1962 Kenmore Oven Features

Hello! I recently moved into a house that has this 1962 Kenmore oven. All 4 burners and the main oven work, but there are some quirky things I'd love some advice on before trying. For example, there is a missing knob 3rd from the right and we have no idea what it controls/does. The one next to it (3rd from the left) turns on the center griddle.

There's an "electric left oven" with a rotisserie in the bottom. Has anyone used one of these before? It would be cool to get working, but also don't want to burn my house down 🙂. I'd love to connect with someone who has a similar oven to ask questions.

What size cracks warrant repair?

I've recently started plaster repairing my walls and it's incredibly satisfying to do RIGHT. The problem is that I'm now seeing cracks absolutely everywhere in the house (only bought recently). It's like my superpower is seeing cracks. There are no foundation issues, so these are natural cracks from just being old (built in 1910). Walls are all plaster and lath.

How big should a crack be before I do my thorough repair process (open it up more, fill with mud, tape, 2 mud layers, then dust control)? Is the picture here too small a crack to even worry about for the time-being?

I'm not afraid of the work, but also don't want to go all OCD on it.

Hardscape/ Stone Suppliers

I'm looking to pick up some pallets of stone for a wall that I'll be building myself. Lud's was my go-to, but they're just not responding with a materials quote (blows my mind- I'm ready to buy). What other hardscape providers are local to the area that I should reach out to?

Surprise Time Capsule!

I opened up a solid nailed bench (turning it into a storage bench) and found 100 years of random items that had fallen behind it over the years!

Oldest appears to be a letter woth a 1 1/2 cent stamp, which i believe puts it in the 1920s. Next is a playing card from the 50s (I think) and a receipt for a mink coat getting cleaned in '56, mail from the 60s, records from the 70s, and a plastic necklace piece from the 90s.

I'm tempted to put it all back under the new compartments I make and add to it!

Prep before painting advice

The rot looks worse than it is (just surface- wood under is fine). What surface filler do you recommend I use before priming?

Fixing door closing issues with lead paint

I have about 6 doors that can't close due to a combination of paint layers and interference from settling. I will need to take some material off part of the top. I tested for lead and the exterior paint is fine, but one of the layers underneath has lead on some of the doors. I have kids, so I dont want to sand and create any super fine airborne lead dust.

Is my best option to use a manual planer and just scrape off thin slices to minimize small particles? Does anyone have tips or tricks?

What cutting tool to use?

I'm going to put a hinge on this bench top, but the cut I need to make is at the corner, so I can't use a circular saw or reciprocating saw.

What do you recommend? Maybe a large dremel and working slowly? I want a clean cut and I'm afraid I can't get that with an angle grinder.

Where to keep soap and shampoo?

I have a free standing tub and single piped up shower head. I can't attach anything to the walls pr tile at this time. Anyone come up with a clever solution (or product) for holding soap and shower items so that you don't drip into the floor reaching for them?

Restoring Original Wallpaper Design

The previous owner stripped down 7 layers of wallpaper to find this gorgeous original. It's pretty fused to the plaster and while having some wear marks, in remarkably good condition. How would I go about restoring it? Hand painting?

Cash App disputes used to almost be guaranteed to be won (in my favor), but lately despite evidence with emails from the customer literally saying they wanted to cancel the dispute (and that Cash App wouldn't let them) in addition to all standard server usage screenshots of my service, we're losing automatically within about 5 minutes of submitting evidence.

Does anyone know what this new increase is from Cash App? Is it just a change in their policy where they're going to rake in dispute fees no matter what to offset some of the fraud their customers clearly are likely to commit (I've had some customers literally say they got the dispute returned and canceled the attached card)?
