Is triathlon as a participation sport contracting, seems like a lot fewer events these days and smaller fields

So I recently came back to this sport after having done it in the 2010's , but when I looked around most of my local races here in the Carolinas are no longer around, all that's left are bigger branded events closer to major metros .. what happened ? Is the sport and interest waning?

The last local race (Sprint) i did back in June only had like 250ish participants, I recall in the old daysl most races having 300-400+ folks regularly , is this just my imagination or have things changed .

Swimming, when to wetsuit or not? In wetsuit legal events.

So I'm doing a 750m lake swim it's wetsuit legal, but the last two events I probably blew 30-40s trying to get the stupid wetsuit off in T1 (it bunches around the ankles, yes I tried triglide) , the wetsuit buys me maybe -5s/100yd so for this event it seems like break even..

What's your strategy for when to wear a wet suit for performance vs.. not

How long do the stock tires typically last on a 24 Sportage Hev?

Curious how many miles folks are getting out of their stock tires , I have 40k miles and tread depth appears bit worn but still within the yellow measurement stick.

Why leave the US for halfway around the world (SEA) when moving on smaller rural towns is easier ?

Genuine question, why does everyone want to runaway from their home country when from a cost of living perspective you can generally retire AS cheaply in smaller , more rural towns in America as moving to developing parts of the 🌍 world ? In addition if you buy properly here you'll have a tangible asset to live on and possibly sell later on.

I get why most Americans don't favor rural lifestyle while their working (lack of opportunities) but once you're retired , that's less of an issue and you can find a community that's not just rural but smaller towns or cities you don't have to trade away your culture , language and familiarity for a cheaper quality of life..

Now I know it's not all apples to 🍏 , you still have expensive healthcare , crazy US politics, but I think a lot of things are less of an issue in smaller communities .

(Clarification, I misspoke by rural I did not mean maga infested backwaters, which is what everyone is assuming...I mean towns or smaller cities in more affordable local...places like • Northampton, MA • Asheville, NC • Flagstaff, AZ • Ithaca, NY • Missoula, MT • Iowa City, IA • Olympia, WA • Burlington, VT • Taos, NM

)

Curious to hear thoughts.

First 500+ mile range tankful , '24 Sportage Hybrid

So I finally got over 500 miles on a full tankful from the hybrid, how far have you guys gotten in this thing..

Here in NJ it was , $53 for 12.3 gal ⛽ fill up, which means about 1 gal was left .. So I suspect running this bone dry you could get 550.

Still sucks gas is so high but at least knowing I can get decent range out of 13 gallons is comforting

Considering a Razor inflatable. edge Pro https://razorkayaks.us/ I think this is a new company to the US but originally an Australian company but their boats seem on par with something like Sea Eagle drop stitched , does anyone have any reviews experience with them.

I know Tesla models have FSD (Full Self driving ) that allows you to choose a destination and have the car mostly autonmously drive you there .

Im wondering is there ANY OTHER EV ADAS that even if it requires human intervention can follow a route., even things like exit off an roadway... from what I've seen nothing following a route ...

So i'm looking for a QUALITY inflatable tandem kayak , by quality I mean something with hard shell like performance, decent storage for multi-day kayak camping and quality comfortable seats with foot pegs . I know this is a lot to ask for an inflatable but unfortunately I don't have the space for a hard shelll tandem... I've narrowed it down to these models... Curios to hear folks experience or recommendations.
