I got my Gurlain Shalimar Extrait today

Christian Dior Poison EdT question

I found this bottle locally and bought without sampling it because I couldn’t open the stopper. I finally managed to open it and omg it’s so potent and feminine floral bouquet but a piece of history regardless. Just one tiny swap on the skin and the scent is in your face. Now I get why people were banned entering cafes in Paris if wearing this fragrance. However, I’m curious if knowledge people can help me in identifying its production period? I suspect it’s from the 80s.

Diptyque secret sale

I got an alert from Diptyque about a secret sale that went to my US associated account while the sale is for European people Lol

I saw Christmas, perfumes, and recently discontinued candles along with kitchen and candles accessories such as plates. I didn’t know Diptyque is in the kitchen business. Thought I don’t know how Diptyque can possibly ship candles in high heats blasting Europe!

Vintage Estee Lauder Youth Dew Cologne

I bought this cologne and it smells so good. I didn’t know what to expect when placing an order but I was intrigued. I’m a dude and I can pull it off, I think. Ambery, woody, musky with something a bit spicy. Though I don’t know if guys can wear perfumes or Eau de perfumes. Advice on that? Also, what other women marketed perfumes guys can wear as well? I’m digging vintage fragrances.

I bought Guerlain Shalimar Extrait and EdT I think from 70s/80s and they smell terrific and totally unisex.

How would you clean up this mess?

I got my Ssence order and Trudon is very messy. Luckily I only got one old Trudon (labeled as Cire Trudon) and this is fresh but messed up. How would I clean this candle? Any advise? Thanks.

What are your recs in Ireland and and Morocco

Hi, my friend is visiting those counties and can pick up few things for me. Any recs what I can only buy there, pretty unique and awesome that people stock up and also where to buy them? Also, can you get VAT refunds if showing a US passport like in South Korea? I was thinking Diptyque Feu de Bois or Essence of John Galliano home sprays or Trudon Mary but idk if sold there.

Diptyque wannabe

So I was browsing my local discount store today, I spotted this highly suspicious candle and started thinking. (Insert a Carrie Bradshaw voice) “As I stared at a shelf of the discount store, I saw this candle practically screaming from trying so hard to be a Diptyque dupe. And I couldn’t help but wonder….in cities we’re living in obsessing with status, can you really manifest luxury? Or am I trying to dupe my way into a life I can’t afford in this economy.”

I crashed my budget again last night with the Trudon amazing sale and so I passed on this lol

Skin penetrating ingredients and products recs

Hi there, can knowledgeable people share what constitutes skin penetrating ingredients to deliver actives and associated products recs please? I think La Prairie/Chantecaille/Eu****n/Ni**a are under Beiersdorf with their thiamidol products, so I’m hopeful (I know trusting a brand is so 🙄) they’ve got delivery systems in place but again I don’t know what those delivery systems consist of and how they works exactly.

I wanted to buy a La Prairie white caviar light concentrate down the line but don’t know what to look for in its ingredients list. I don’t want buy an expensive product to be disappointed that it didn’t do meaningful improvements. SkinCeuticals (under L’Oreal), Alastin (under Galderma), Estée Lauder/Clinique (under Estée Lauder which I no longer support) presumably have something similar.

Do you have a preference what candles to burn to match the weather outside?

I’ve been trying to organize my current stash in terms of what weather is like in a given day. Today I’ve decided to burn a Kobo Sacred Leaning Lily (lily, lavender, rose, clove, and cedar) because the weather is grey and gloomy but not rainy. However, burning it didn’t match the weather condition for me. I’m getting cedar and clove mainly, a tiny bit of rose and no lavender. I should have gone with Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir instead I think. Do you think it’ll be a better fit?

If it were a rainy day I’d have burnt a FieldDay Apothecary Rain candle in a heartbeat. If it were a sunny day, then I’d have chose Kobo Opal Basil, Trudon Salta (hate burning), Dada or Tuileries, DS and Durga Holy Ficus, Linnea Sea Salt or Aquisse Luxe Linen (unsure what it’s supposed to smell like, I’m smelling something sweet). If it were a dark gloomy evening, Trudon Althair or Bayonne, the Maker Rose Room, Boy Smells Vanilla Era, Hinoki Fantome, Woodphoria, or Cedar Stack. If it were a kinda grey afternoon, I’d burn Boy Smells Red Hot, Hi:Fire, DS and Durga Concrete After Lighting, Trudon Cire, Byredo Bibliotheque and Malin and Goetz Leather under a candle warmer only.

In the morning, I hate burn the Maker Cafe and Boy Smells Roasted. Both are not my faves. Cafe smells like a dense dough or pastry shop (so strong that I burn it outside) and Roasted smells like a sweet leather, woods, and a bit coffee combo. I’m thinking of trying a Fvith Velvet Moon or Cantrip Coffee candles. I need to burn an Overose Chocolate Croissant first though. Anyone tried those two in the meantime?

What kinds of candles or scents do you gravitate towards depending on weather?

I have a few strong scented candles that I don’t like burning inside my apartment (small size) cause I get overwhelmed with scents and can get occasionally headaches BUT I love burning right outside my living room window. I get whiffs from candles mixed in with outside breeze inside the living room and it’s so much better and pleasant. It’s a better version of “hate burning” for me 😆

Boy Smells Fantome line, Cafe by the Maker , Trudon Salta, and Monterey Pine by Aquiesse are my outside designated candles. It’s also super nice to step outside the patio and be greeted with scents while enjoying a drink or tea/coffee. If you have better or interesting alternatives, please do tell.
