Really need help with my 5 year old’s eye eczema,or help with a more accurate diagnosis

We have been battling this for a year now. Picture one shows what it typically is on a good day, and the other two are when it’s worse. Also a picture of his torso spots, which look the same but are always crusty when his eyes are sometimes just red.

So a year ago he got a ton of red, rough patches and spots on his torso. And around his eyes. They shows up together so I guess we thought they were the same thing, but I am doubting that.

We tried of course normal over the counter eczema recommendations. His torso spots are easily managed with steroids, and once they go away they can stay away for a time. But his eyes aren’t different. Hydrocortisone will manage it and almost make it disappear but the second you stop using it, it comes back.

And it’s not from overuse, I began using it directed for 3 days, it improved. then I stop also as directed and the next day it’s really red. Some creams would make the rash react really badly. Plain Vaseline is best, but anything else makes it angry. Then we just waited, to see if it would go away. It didn’t.

Next we finally went to a dermatologist and she gave us some steroids for his body spots, and a non steroid cream for his eyes. The steroid for the body spots works even better than hydrocortisone.

But the cream for the eyes, the non-steroid cream, doesn’t work at all. I have tried it for 3 weeks at this point just to be sure. Does absolutely nothing. We use Vaseline, and I have even gone back to hydrocortisone for a few days this is past week, but once I stop it’s back.

He doesn’t itch it, is the only good thing, he doesn’t seem to mind it at all.

We have another appointment in August. I’m just so frustrated that his eyes aren’t responding to anything and wonder what it could be.

Nightweaning

I just nightweaned my third baby, at 2.5ish just like my older 2. And guess what….she still sleeps like crap. I was really hoping this would help her. 😭

My first child did sleep through basically immediately, but she was also the hardest one. The other two dropped feeds at night pretty naturally and it wasn’t that difficult to stretch it to the whole night. Those were the kids whose sleep didn’t change.

So sometimes night weaning does nothing. 🙃

Just wanted to share because I am sad.

Child getting shark teeth pulled

My 8 year old has shark teeth and back in December the dentist said based on the x-rays her tongue should push them forward/out.

At this point, one is slightly wiggly, and the other one is still pretty stuck.

In December the dentist offered to freeze the area (I think?) and yank them right there. I declined at the time but we decided to get them taken care of in a few weeks.

My question, well really my 8 year old’s question is “will it hurt?”

Can anyone walk me through what will happen in what order and how long it will take and if patients say it hurts? Even if the answer is yes it’s fine, my kid just wants to know what to expect. She likes to walk through things and be very prepared and I’m sick of her asking me because I don’t know. The dentist used the word “uncomfortable.” If we could have that elaborated upon it would help a lot!

Right now my daughter (8) sees a unique provider, a former pediatrician who opened this new office to exclusively deal with ADHD. She is retiring at the end of the summer so I’m a wondering what would be best as far as managing my daughter’s care.

I asked the retiring doctor where we should go and she just said “oh nobody does what I do,” and continued to give me information for our regular doctor.

I am willing to travel- a few hours away from us I a large children’s hospital with some doctors who seem to deal with ADHD. My daughter is actually doing really well, but she has some anxiety and I just worry about her struggles entering puberty in a few years. I want us to be with a doctor who can connect us to the right resources.

So who does your child see? Is it worth driving further for a children’s psychiatrist or something like that or do you manage meds through your regular pediatrician?
