Best way to watch downloaded files on TV?

Hi there! I just stumbled upon this sub, so sorry if something like this has been talked to death, but I couldn't find anything.

I've been using a program called Audials to record streaming content, which is 100% legal in Germany, where I live, so long as it's only for personal use. Right now, I have everything saved to a hard drive which I can plug into my Samsung Smart TV, but the UI is just awful. The files are weirdly out of order, and of course, there's nothing showing you which episode you left off at.

I looked into sideloading my Fire TV stick but that seems risky to me. I feel like, given the time, I could cook up a program that would work kind of like an offline streaming service, but as far as I know there's no way to run something like that on a TV or Fire Stick beyond certain versions. The best thing I could come up with was connecting my TV to my PC and use a wireless mouse/keyboard as a remote, but that's clunky and just wastes electricity.

Does anyone have any recommendations for how to emulate a streaming platform, or at least have the "Continue Watching" tab automatically? This is also for my mother, who sometimes struggles with technology she's not used to, so any user-friendly recommendations would be much appreciated! I myself am a CompSci student, so I'd like to think I can also handle more complicated solutions.

Thanks in advance!

First time DM here - Player wants to play a Fairy

I already feel like I've flooded this sub with questions about running my first game, but here goes another one!

I recently recruited another player for my Lost Mine of Phandelver campaign. I'm a first time DM and all except one of my players have never actually played before, and I heard that this campaign was well suited for learning the ropes.

One of my players wants to play a fairy and is very excited to do so (already sending me ideas for homebrew spells), and I don't wanna dull her excitement, but I'm a bit worried about running a game with one PC being much much smaller than the others. I'm not sure if I'm overly worried here, but with everything to keep track of already, making sure to design encounters, puzzles, prison cells etc. in a way that can't be solved by her going "I'm tiny, I just fly through that hole and unlock the door!" or similar feels pretty challenging.

I do really wanna make this work for her, but I also can't let it throw the game out of balance for the other players. Not to mention, with literally zero experience of designing encounters, I'm not sure I could actually think of everything.

Can anybody with more experience tell me if my worries are justified, or if there's a way to keep her as a tiny, flying menace without breaking the game or giving me a ton of extra work? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Help for a newbie

Hey everyone, just stumbled upon this sub in the search of a reliable downloader!

I haven't played around with it, and a few years back had to pay a fine for piracy, so I'm trying to steer clear of anything like that, so I have a few questions:

Is yt-dlp legal?

I'm aware that this is a stupid question, but I've seen a lot of people talk about it in the official YouTube subreddit, and I can't imagine YouTube coming after everyone who downloads videos, or even caring tbh.

Should you use a VPN?

From what I gather, you should almost always be using one, but is it strictly necessary/strongly recommended for yt-dlp?

Any specific system requirements?

I just switched to CachyOS not long ago and I'm still learning the ropes, would that be an easy setup or does anything clash with Arch Linux (might also be a stupid question, but It's all still pretty new to me)

Thanks in advance for any help!

My friend vented to me about her relationship, then blocked me

I honestly still don't know what to say. A few days ago, a friend of mine (26F) randomly texted me, saying she needed to vent a bit, which I'm always down for. Not to go into too much detail but she had plans with her girlfriend (27-ish F) and two friends, and apparently it was nearly impossible to form a solid plan between the four of them. My friend "Cassy" ranted about how her girlfriend and their friends kept arguing about things like how they'd get to the location, how/if they'd get home that night and where to sleep if they didn't. Cassy, the designated driver who also organized a place for them to sleep if they decided not to drive home that night, was getting understandably frustrated. From what she said, the group were more "go with the flow" type people, which left all the actual planning to her. Her girlfriend was apparently no help in all this, but shifted the blame towards Cassy who, at that point, was considering just staying home, so she also complained about things like that. From what she told me, her girlfriend was behaving pretty unfairly towards her, but that may not be the full story..

I'm not gonna go into too much more detail about all that because it's not the main topic of this vent, it's mainly context. So, we chatted for about an hour or so, I vented about my future roommates, and eventually she was off. I didn't really think about it afterwards, because we often just send voice memos back and forth, to talk about our days, vent about things that piss us off, etc. which I think is a healthy thing to do. Both of us understand that sometimes you need to let off some steam before you can think rationally about the stuff you just ranted about.

So, the next day I got a voice memo from her where she sounded pretty shaken. She told me that she felt disgusted with how she talked about her girlfriend the day before and that she scared herself with that. I was honestly a bit bewildered so I re-read our chat, and I'm still confident that there was nothing unusual, unfair, or personal/insulting towards her girlfriend. The main topic was the planning for that evening, and yes, she vented about some things her girlfriend did specifically, but those also didn't cross any lines imo. But Cassy was pretty shaken and told me, in her panic, she'd deleted the entire chat and asked me to send her screenshots and the voice memos. I started to respond, but she texted something along the lines of "I don't wanna think about this anymore today. I don't want any input on this.", so I stopped and sent her our chat.

A few hours later, I get a really long text explaining that she specifically went to me to vent because she knew it wouldn't work with her other friends (not exactly that but it's hard to translate what she said). She also said that she deliberately spun the truth, left certain things out and added others in, so she essentially lied to me about that evening. She went on to say how she really messed up and is about to lose the most important thing in her life, and how I had no right to just jump on her vent while only knowing her side of the story. She said she needs to change something and she can't have people around her who support this kind of behavior, so she's distancing herself from me. She finished her message with "I know you probably don't understand, but that really doesn't matter.", and blocked me instantly.

We've been friends for 2 years and she's honestly one of my most valued friends, and used to be someone I felt incredibly secure with. I had some really great talks with her about trauma and all sorts of things, and she always had some amazing insights that showed she's been in therapy for 10+ years. So I'm incredibly hurt by the fact that she deliberately didn't even give me the chance to say anything as well as the fact that she's putting the blame on me.

She came to me, stressed out and pissed off, literally saying "I need to vent", and I obliged. During our chat, I asked if she wanted to change topics to get her into a better mood before she had to leave, I asked her if she could talk about all this with her girlfriend, and urged her to do so if not that day, then the day after. And now I find out that Cassy purposefully lied to me, changed the story but is still blaming me for going along with it? And telling me I had no right to do so, because I only knew her side of the story?? (I've met her girlfriend twice, and one of those was randomly on the street when I was on my way back from a breakup so we never really even talked)

I thought about messaging her on Instagram or something, but for one thing, that would be crossing a boundary, but honestly I don't see a point in chasing a friend who treats me like this. We've both shared some of our deepest stories and issues with each other, helper each other through really tough times, and even if I agreed with everything she said about her vent, I still deserve more than a fucking text message and just getting blocked before I even get the chance to say a single thing to all this.

EDIT: From how I understood it, she asked for the screenshots and willingly showed them to her girlfriend to come clean.

Need help finding a Sith Lord

I saw a video a while ago about a Sith who technically achieved eternal life. The story was that he traveled to a relatively undeveloped planet, pretended to be their god, tasked them with finding a way to live forever, then cryogenically froze himself and checked on them every few hundred years. As time went on they eventually stopped worshipping him and didn't wake him fron cryosleep anymore so he's still technically alive, but stuck in a cryopod in a cave somewhere.

Does anyone know who this might be or where I can look up more of his lore?

I'm planning a Star Wars DnD campaign and I'd love to have my party stumble upon him. Any help would be much appreciated!

Danke schonmal!

Either I haven't noticed before or it hasn't been an issue, but my game drops to like 5fps when I let bots dismantle a bunch of chests (with items inside). Even after destroying my starter base so there was nothing but chests built on Nauvis, when I marked them for deconstruction, my game basically froze.

Is this an issue for anyone else? Does anyone have suggestions on how to deal with this, apart from deleting the chests one by one?

The title basically says it all, but let me explain:

From what I understand, Batman is all about doing things "the right way", meaning that even the worst of the worst get put into Arkham, only to escape soon after.

My question is: If Gotham had the death penalty, and Joker had gotten a fair trial, and been sentenced to death, would Batman respect that decision or interfere?

Additionally, if he knew that a villain would almost certainly get the death penalty, would arresting them break his no killing rule?

Obviously with comics, there would be some way to get out of this dilemma, but I'm genuinely curious to hear some of your takes, or if you have source material that explains this!
