Nailtiques has reformulated, removed formalin which is what hardens nails

I keep seeing recommendations for Nailtiques here. I just wanted to share this in case it is helpful. Check your boxes of Nailtiques. If there is no formalin, then it’s not going to harden the nails, help with delamination, etc. You have the new formula if you don’t see formalin. Same with NailTek.

Need reccos for plump, thick, glass-like jellies.

I’ve only just very recently discovered jelly polishes. On a whim, I purchased 3 Essie Studio Glass nail polish colors. It seems like they get a fair bit of hate around here, but I I love them. Formulas a very thick, look like gel polish on the nail, and the transparency is banging, they look deep with three coats. I don’t love the shade range, though.

I wanted to branch out, so I bought 3 Cirque jellies; Fig, Bonbon and Tempest. While the colors are right up my alley, and formula is easier to work with, I’m finding the overall effect on the nails to be thinner, less plump and more opaque with 3 coats than the Essie. These seem more like crellies to me. And, to get them not to be streaky, I’m even using 4 coats of polish and two coats of QDTC.

It’s a like but not a love.

I would love your suggestions on where to get jellies that are thicker more transparent, and look like a gel polish on the nail, thick and plump. There are so many options to choose from, and I’ve been reading over past posts here for days and days in my head is whirling.

Nailtiques has quietly reformulated, removing formalin

They have rolled out a formalin and formaldehyde resin-free new formula.

Photo 1 is the old formula ingredients, and photo 2 is the new formula. Both bottles are Nailtiques Formula 2. As we all know, it’s the formalin that creates additional cross links within the keratin bonds.

It’s very hard to find the old formula in the physical stores, at least, it has been for me. Target only carries the new formula, CVS has both and all the Publix in my area seem to be phasing it out. I’ve bought 5 bottles of old formula from Publix and it never scans at the register, it says product not found. Hit or miss online, too.

Just sharing because I know is product is a favorite in the nail subs. Getting harder every day to find a hardener that contains formalin.

Jo Malone is killing me..

Before a couple months ago, I only ever smelled one Jo Malone that I got as a sample in an order of something else. The longevity and projection issues kept me away from the house.

By chance I sampled some of their colognes at a store recently and now I have like 8 ounces of Jo Malone. Maybe more.

They are some of the most beautiful things I have ever smelled. So absolutely REAL smelling things. I bought 100 ml Basil and Neroli, 50 ml Blackberry and Bay, and I have about 90 ml of Wild Bluebell, 60 ml of Mimosa and Cardamom, and 9ml each of WS&S and Frangipani Flower. I absolutely cannot wear WS&S - that was a mistake. But the rest are just pure childhood heaven. I guess I’m in my innocence/minimalist/midlife crisis era?

I now see why people buy them despite the longevity issues. But my god, I didn’t even get them from discounters, a cardinal sin in my own book.

If anyone’s curious about how any of these smell/perform, let me know and I’ll review.

Hi. Our old GE top load no frills washer would only fill hot water when the lid was open. If we wanted to wash in hot, we needed to leave the lid open during fill.

It died and we replaced it with a new GE top load, slightly upgraded version but still no frills. Installed last night. Yes, the hoses are correct.

Running my second load in it and it’s the same thing. I select hot water get the load started, and when I open the lid to check, the machine is only running cold water. If I leave the lid open, it fills with hot water.

What’s up with that? Clearly it is intentional?
