Which Route?

Hi there - I’m heading to Acadia on October 12th from Vermont. I have a few options to drive there - northern route or southern. Wondering if anyone could recommend one over the other? We are heading to the Boston area afterwards so I’m leaning towards the northern route. Thanks in advance!

Inoperable Liver Tumor on my Girl

Hi all - I posted a couple weeks about a liver mass that was found on my 6 year old girl, Rosie.

She had a CT scan Friday and today we found out she has a bagel-sized mass on the right side of her liver. Because the right side of the liver has a main artery, we have decided to not do surgery.

Now we just have to take things day by day.

She is currently doing well. Pretty much regular energy, blood work normal except a slightly elevated kidney level, eating, drinking, normal bathroom habits. The CT showed the tumor has not metastasized. It’s likely HCC or benign. But the only way to know if it’s cancer or benign is to surgically remove it. So we will never really be able to know.

I’m just heart broken. She is my baby. I’m 33 and she is my first dog that I got on my own. I thought we’d have many more years with her and even had a roadtrip planned with her this fall. I feel like so many years of loving her have just been pulled out from under me. She’s had a great life. We taken her with us when we’ve traveled, and she’s always stayed with friends or family when we couldn’t take her. She gets tons of affection and I tell her 1000x a day how much I love her.

I’m just having such a hard time right now and need my community.

Just found a mass on my girls liver

My Rosie girl got sick on Tuesday and after many vet trips, they found a mass on her liver. We go on Tuesday to a surgeon to see what our options are. She’s only 6 years old. Her bloodwork was all normal except a slightly elevated liver value which didn’t raise any concerns initially. Her chest X-ray came back clear and the ultrasound my local vet did on her kidneys, stomach and a couple other places didn’t show any signs of additional masses.

Until Tuesday she was totally normal. Happy as a lark and active. On Tuesday she vomited and had labored breathing. Since then she has been on pain meds and an anti nausea. She’s eating and sleeping normal. Still wants to go on walks but is slow and uninterested in squirrels and bunnies.

I’m just so distraught. I thought I’d have and hope to have many more years with her. 6 is just still a baby.

I guess I’m just looking for comfort or encouragement. It’s been a very sad couple days around our house. We’re trying to remain positive and give her lots of love and cuddles to make her potential last days good ones. I honestly just can’t believe this is happening. I keep thinking it’s all a bad dream.

My vet tech actually said “it’s always the collies. The gentle giants.”

June vs. September

Hi there - planning a trip for 2027! I’m debating going in either mid-June or September. I’d also like to go to sequoia and kings canyon for a day each. Any recommendations for one over the other?
