Is Using potassium citrate as an alkalizer for kidney stones for patient with ACEI drugs could be deadly in five days course twice daily?
So I started working in a community pharmacy about a month ago and I noticed that the college didn’t provide me with enough knowledge when it come to does of the drugs and drug interactions and so on…..( you might’ve noticed me asking in this group) so I want a way to learn all this information that my college didn’t provide
I am from Iraq we don’t get the patient number so the second he leaves the pharmacy we can’t contact him so there is no room for error si please help 😅
Does this does make any sense
A patient came to me suffering from a diarrhea
He doesn’t have fever or need to vomit he is 27
He go to bathroom 7 times today
I gave him an ORS and lopramide 2mg each time he went to the bathroom
I told him if he doesn’t get better today he should go to the hospital
Is this the best treatment or could I improve it ?
So I asked about antibiotic does and I noticed that in my country we do things quite differently than the rest of the world
Were I am from as a pharmacist if patient came to me and told my he has throat infection and a fever all the pharmacist will give him azithromycen without going to the doctor and probably some NASID ( some even give pressilon)
If he has an UTI we must likely give him levofloxacin or something similar and diclofenac and Ural ( an alcalizer)
Must times we don’t send him to the doctor for these kinds of problems
Even the doctor will not do things differently like taking a culture for the bacteria
We do this because going to the doctor is really expensive
So can we call the work we do in my country as a pharmacy profession?
A patient had an acute UTI and he was on ciprofloxacin for 2w
He came back and the doctor described uvamin but didn’t say the does
I accidentally told him to take one daily
What could realistically happen to the patient?
And I can’t call him in my country we don’t take the patient info
It’s my first month after graduation by the way
So do I have to remove it and will it hurt + or is there another solution
