Player Usage & Impact Assessment: PBKS
Based on MVP stats published after each game in www.espncricinfo.com
Total Impact Points for a player in a match is a numerical value which is the sum of his Batting and Bowling Impacts. These Impacts are calculated based on the context of a batting/bowlingperformance. Context is based on an intelligent algorithm that quantifies the pressure on the batter/bowler at every ball of an innings. The Impact is thus a factor not only of the runs scored/wickets taken/economy rate, but also of the pressure under which these performances happened.
Some observations:
- 6 players played all games and 9 players played 10+ and overall used only 19 players.
- PBKS spent 81% of their auction purse on players who played 10+ games which is the highest in the league.
- PBKS relied mostly on their big name purchases overall. The highest ROI is Shedge who is #18 in the league in terms of ROI.
- Arshdeep had a taper down towards the end of the season. On average, he along with Jansen, had higher impact per game than Chahal/Shreyas Iyer.
- Unfortunately, Omarzai who had the best average impact, was only brought in late into the playing XI
- Nehal Wadhera was the biggest disappointment of the season having played half the games and contributing close to nothing.
