Big post of my SEKAI lore/worldbuilding, which I have written way too much of.

For the past year or so, I've been writing my own lore for how SEKAI works, since I'm not happy with the way it's portrayed in the game and my OCs kinda revolve around it. This is a big post compiling what I have cohesively written down so far, mostly just copy-pasted from my Obsidian. This is inspired by a post of a similar nature about the MLP:FIM magic system lol. It's going to be very disjointed, apologies in advance. Feel free to ask for elaboration 😅

The Dimensional Planes

In this world, there are three dimensional planes:

  1. The Atomic Plane, where we live. Everything is made of atoms.

1.5: The Virtual Plane, a "layer" of our world filled with code. It helps efficiently transmit emotional energy throughout the Atomic Plane. Not really a true dimensional plane in comparison to the other two... yet.

  1. The Emotional Plane, where SEKAI denizens live. Everything is made of emotional energy.

That's pretty much all the base knowledge you need. How our world works beyond emotional stuff isn't really relevant, given that we live in it, so let's get right into the Emotional Plane.

Emotional Energy

Whenever a human feels an emotion, Emotional Energy is generated in both worlds. In our world, it's capable of directly manipulating how other people feel. It has to be transmitted intentionally by putting it into the form of music, or by immortalizing it in the Virtual Plane (which we only recently learned how to access). In the Emotional Plane, though, it becomes a physical construct similar in concept to atoms - it forms literally everything.

While (or because?) each emotional fragment carries different concentrations of certain basic core attributes, such as joy or fear, no two fragments are almost ever exactly the same.

SEKAI Formation

Just like in our world, the Emotional Plane contains many universes formed from one major source (in this case, emotions). However, these universes - known as SEKAI - act more like concentrated pocket dimensions, with unique rules for each one.

When first felt, emotions will float across the Space Between aimlessly. However, when it passes by an emotion with similar enough attributes, they will group up. This grouping continues each time a similar emotion is felt, until it is eventually able to take unstable forms for short periods of time. As the process continues, the group will evolve into a Fragment SEKAI; the "infancy" stage of a SEKAI, where the group is stable enough to appear as a tiny pocket universe, but not stable enough to hold this form for long. Many SEKAI permanently stay in the early-mid phases of the Fragment stage, but if enough similar feelings are felt consistently and strongly enough, the group will finally become stable enough to create a fully formed SEKAI. This SEKAI, in turn, can form its own songs from the emotions is carries - and more recently, Secondary VIRTUAL SINGERS.

Because of this grouping system, SEKAI tend to orbit around SEKAI with similar emotions. While incredibly uncommon, if the emotions evolve to be similar enough, two SEKAI can fuse into one. This usually only occurs with Fragment SEKAI and mature SEKAI, though. Last note: People whose emotions heavily contribute to the formation and evolution of a certain SEKAI are known as SEKAI Holders.

VIRTUAL SINGERS oh boy

As mentioned earlier, the two primary transmitters of Emotional Energy in the Atomic Plane are music and the Technological Plane. Music is born from the emotions of the writers, and can directly influence the emotions of whoever listens to it. The Virtual Plane is a constant stream that quickly transmits emotional energy across the world without affecting the emotions of nearby people. When you combine the two, you get VIRTUAL SINGERS: beings born through (not in) the Virtual Plane who carry the emotions found within the songs we have them sing. There are two types of VIRTUAL SINGERS: Primary and Secondary.

Once a voicebank is created, its Primary VS counterpart enters a state of stasis. As soon as the first song is sung with this voicebank, they awaken into the body and (sometimes) personality they were given.

VIRTUAL SINGERS can't generate their own emotional energy, despite being sentient. They feel emotions via "borrowing" them from songs they have sung, therefore, human emotions. The more songs they are made to sing, the wider their range of emotions becomes. And as they become connected to more and more feelings, their chances of Secondary VIRTUAL SINGERS being formed in their image increases, due to them "linking" to SEKAI matching their absorbed Emotional Energy.

With this aforementioned linking comes Secondary VIRTUAL SINGERS. The denizens of SEKAI that form naturally feel emotions in a similar way to VIRTUAL SINGERS, but their emotional energy is absorbed from their SEKAI itself, not music. A Secondary VS is formed when a Primary VS becomes connected enough to the emotions of a certain SEKAI. Secondary VS feel emotions through absorbing both those relevant emotions of their Primary counterparts and the SEKAI itself, making them "hybrids" of sorts. Because their emotional states are directly linked to the state of their SEKAI, they are always acutely aware of any issues that may be happening with their SEKAI Holders.

If a SEKAI is formed from feelings directly relating to a Primary VIRTUAL SINGER (eg. a SEKAI formed from the world's combined view of Hatsune Miku), rather than forming a Secondary VIRTUAL SINGER in their image, the Primary VIRTUAL SINGER will become directly linked to that SEKAI, becoming essentially its Secondary VS equivalent. This is uncommon, though.

Because they were born through the concentrated transmission of emotional energy in the Virtual Plane, VIRTUAL SINGERS can directly enter said plane, which is where the name comes from. They have the ability to access and manipulate code, and even directly possess certain machines, as seen in Nenerobo and Adachi Rei - though this, of course, takes practice. Programming isn't easy.

This is also how the whole Untitled thing works: As mentioned before, SEKAI can form songs in a similar fashion to humans. Things from SEKAI cannot be brought into the Atomic Plane without dissipating and being lost to the Virtual Plane, but if the song is converted into a format compatible with the Virtual Plane - an audio file - it can be used as a "portal" into the Emotional Plane. This is currently the only way to access the Emotional Plane outside of dreams.

That was probably entirely incoherent. Very sorry. But also, that's about all the important stuff! This was actually shorter than I thought it would be. Of course, there's actual history to the world too, but this post isn't about that. Extra notes:

  • Strong emotions can affect the electric field, as seen in the movie. In fact, emotions can sometimes be strong enough to break out of their own SEKAI and leak into others... also seen in the movie. The whole movie incident was kind of a massive traumatic disaster that Miku would sell her soul to not have repeated again. It wasn't actually so bad for a lot of secondary Mikus affected, though, as they could at least chat with the other Mikus and learn about other SEKAI until things got sorted out.
  • Ghosts exist! They're the "leftover" emotions released when someone dies, and they exist within the Virtual Plane's non-corporeal field (so no, they can't interact with VIRTUAL SINGERS). The closer someone is to their emotions, the better chance they have of being able to see them.

would it be possible for another magical girl to remember homura's [SPOILERS iykyk]?

disclaimer: i haven't really read any of the spinoffs, including scene 0, so bear with me.

let's assume that rather than leaving the current timeline/universe and entering a new one, homura resets the entire current timeline every loop. could somebody else eventually come to realize that the time loop is happening - and therefore also become "stuck" in it, even if they aren't actively involved in the quintet's lives?

for example, let's say a magical girl made a wish before the start of the loop that allows her to remember timeline resets. (this girl would probably need a lot of karmic destiny to truly pull that off, but this is just a hypothetical.) therefore, homura's wish would unintentionally lead this other unfortunate magical girl to become stuck in the loop with her. and if this girl happened to live in canada or something, there would 99% be absolutely no way for her to know who or what is causing this, so she'd most likely spend the next 8-10 years doing everything she can think of to end the cycle to no avail.

i'm kind of surprised that no spinoff seems to explore this kind of concept (maybe scene 0 does again idk i havent read it), so i thought there must be a reason for that. also i had this idea for a potential fic lmao. i know this is probably a stupid question it's just midnight right now and im excited for the movie 🥹

what's the difference between accomplicing and teaming?

why is one allowed, but the other is looked down upon? in my experience accomplice cases can be just as (if not more) annoying and unsolvable as teaming cases. is there a real difference in strategy or something?? i don't get it.

cosmic NON-horror?

i want to write a story (more accurately worldbuilding project presented through multiple stories) that has themes similar to cosmic horror, except without much horror. more of just the cosmic part... if you get what i mean, i'm bad at describing things. it's kinda something largely incomprehensible/bigger than yourself, but in more of a symbolic, awe-inspiring way than a horrific way.

i was making a read/watchlist of things to study and help influence me, and i noticed there was a lot of horror on there for something that's not very scary, so that's why i'm asking. there also aren't enough books on there in general 😅. i don't have any particular genre preferences beyond what i already described, other than that the story also has a focus on cyber-fantasy type stuff. here's the current list, if it helps:

series:

• puella magi madoka magica

• the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya

• searching for a world that doesn't exist

• serial experiments lain

• kane pixels backrooms

• artiswitch

• ghost in the shell

• ONE.

movies:

• pjsk movie

• paprika

• backrooms

• cosmic princess kaguya

• coraline

• project hail mary.

books:

• literally anything by lovecraft

• the king in yellow

• house of leaves

• project hail mary

• alice in wonderland

• fahrenheit 451

• frankenstein

please format correctly

balancing between discussing important details and overcomplicating trials?

it should always be good to go over every detail of the case before making a conclusion. but every time this actually happens, people feel like the trial is boring or being dragged, and they stop participating. especially when they all have a big suspect or they feel like it was "obvious" (when nobody actually saw it), even when they haven't even gone over their alibis. unfortunately i kinda feel this too and get bored of it quickly. and every time it happens, we end up going completely off the rails and the real blackened turns out to be some random nobody even brought up because we were fighting over a different person the entire time... is there any good way to avoid this and have an actual productive well-thought-out trial?? (edit, im also frustrated because sometimes the blackened actually was the person they suspected from the start and the trial did genuinely become overcomplicated, so i want to avoid doing that too but again its a hard balance to strike)

COMPLETELY stuck...

i have a general idea for a story. i have pretty intricate ideas for the setting, characters, and GENERAL plot points. however, i have almost no idea where this story or these characters should actually go, or how they should make it to their endings (which actually are pretty planned). i change things completely basically every month, i constantly have to take notes on new ideas or else i'll completely forget them and be really mad about it (adhd), i can't decide on what to do with a lot of the character arcs. i legitimately cannot get ANYTHING to stick. i'll have a general plotline in mind, only to notice major flaws or think of something better a week later. Infuriating. i can barely even get myself to actually write it because i'll sit down and realize i have no idea what i'm even meant to be writing. it probably does not help that i've just started writing again after a while of not writing, and am struggling to get back into reading books. this is a really nothingburger post ik but i desperately need some guidance lol

▲ 4 r/OCD

ocd keeps me from talking to my friends...

a lot of my themes center around my identity. a lot of my friends have qualities that relate to these identity-related themes... and part of my ocd is me feeling an uncontrollable urge/compulsion to tell anyone with any qualities related to my themes all of my worries about the subject as a form of reassurance seeking, in hopes that they will say "no [insert thing here] doesnt mean youre [insert theme thing here]!!". this creates an awful outcome where i can't bring myself to speak to any of my friends who fit the bill until the feeling fades, both to avoid reassurance seeking and out of fear that if i do say anything, they'll confirm my anxiety. since i kind of live in my head, rumination is the #1 part of my ocd, meaning that this inability to speak to 90% of my friends can last for Many Days... it is actual torture. and i already have issues with responding to messages!! worse that my ocd causes severe physical discomfort that i just have to sit with and hope nothing triggers it before it can fade away for a while. AAAAGGGHHHHH CANT I JUST HAVE FUN IN LIFE!!!!!!!!

anyone want to help improve the fandom wiki??

ik fandom wikis suck but the only alternative for carnage rn is the trello which.. also sucks. actually it kinda sucks worse imo. fandom wikis can be edited by anyone, and i think 90% of the misinfo new players learn comes from there... so, since they can be edited by anyone, it would be cool if people who know a LOT about the game could start cleaning it up a bit. i've been trying to, but i don't think i really know enough to write comprehensive articles yet, and theres barely any other active(??) editors right now. again i know fandom wikis suck but it could be the only decent resource until they (or someone else) make a miraheze or wiki.gg or whatever so like..

is there a way to transfer pokemon between saves? (pokemon black)

i just found my old pokemon black cartridge from when i was 4 years old. i originally wanted to start a new save, but i would feel REALLY bad about getting rid of my old pokemon that waited 14 years for me (really silly i know). is there a way to transfer my pokemon from the old save onto a new one? my alternative option is to watch a playthrough up until the point where i'm at, but that would take an hour and honestly wouldn't feel the same, i was really looking forward to starting from scratch up until this 😅

edit: my 3ds is modded, but it was modded by the seller, so i don't know much about how it all works. tutorials are appreciated where applicable lol

edit 2: my PC apparently does not have an sd card slot. so anything involving installing new things with a pc will probably be useless :/

this accomplice murder made me Mad.

i was spectating a game after i got executed. as i was spectating, i witnessed The Murder. this one girl went into this guys dorm, chased him out, then stabbed him. then her accomplice came out and mopped up the blood while she cleaned herself up. alright. but then he dropped the mop there. okay whatever... except this was area 2. the static poison area. and one of them took the poison.

if they had just done this in a spot where they couldve hidden the mop, or set up a scene that looked like they were attacked, or tried to find a bloodbag (im pretty sure one was even mm) or ANYTHING, they could have framed it as him poisoning himself and it wouldve been the easiest trial of all time for them. of course since they didnt do that, they got accused immediately.

this was awful. they were SO CLOSE to a perfect murder. i dont remember if the mop drops automatically or not, but if it doesnt, that makes it even worse. HE COULDVE DROPPED IT IN HIS DORM!!!!! take this as a good lesson of how not to do an accomplice murder. at least it was somewhat thought through, if it was a bigger server they probably couldve still gotten away with it... but there were only 4 of them lol

hesh anc battery deterioration?

i've had my hesh anc headphones for probably around 2 years now. at first, the battery could last for almost 24 hours as advertised, but now, they die within 4-ish? hours. i do use them pretty constantly, and the anc is always on, but even then, that kind of deterioration within 2 years is weird to me (especially since it felt kind of spontaneous, it only got THIS bad over the past few months even tho nothing changed in how i use them). this doesn't seem new either - i saw someone who apparently didn't even use anc that consistently experience this. sooo does anyone ELSE experience this? i doubt there's a fix besides replacing the batteries, but advice is appreciated anyway
