Rib cap on right and eye on left on cutting board

My nice dishwasher’s auto-open feature keeps scaring the crap out of me when it cracks open in the middle of the night and I think someone’s breaking in.

How’d I do?

Typically I reverse sear but this time I went with the frequent flip method for a better sear and I think it paid off. It tasted great!

Weird stuff happening at my neighbor’s house

Hey everyone, I’ve had two incidents in the last week that have me a bit creeped out and I’m hoping you can help me figure out if I’m being paranoid. About a week ago around 11pm, I was in my backyard and clearly heard what sounded like a woman singing. The sound was coming straight from my neighbor’s yard, and it honestly spooked me pretty badly. I ran off and when I came back the sound was gone. Then tonight I went outside again and saw a flashing red light coming from their backyard. I tried to get a closer look, but then I saw what looked like a person (or something) moving in the distance. I noped out of there real quick 😂 Some extra context: I moved in about a year ago. I always assumed their house was either vacant or occupied by an older person/family because the yard and exterior are pretty run-down and unkempt. In all this time I’ve never once seen anyone actually living there, just gardeners who come by occasionally.

Dang holding oven turned off middle of night, brisket still safe?

Need a sanity check from the BBQ pros here. Yesterday I smoked a brisket to 193, then put it into a holding oven set to 150 around 3:30pm.

Apparently the oven has an auto shutoff I didn’t know about, and it turned off at 3:30am. I checked the brisket at 7:20am and temps were reading anywhere from 127–140 depending on where I probed.

I immediately put it back into the holding oven at 165. Was that the right move? Think it’s still safe to eat?

Is it normal for these avocados to turn purple/black?

I’m noticing a few avocados on my tree changing to a darker color and I’m not sure if it’s a bad thing. Moved into house recently so I know very little about little about this tree.
