Signed up for text alerts, package instantly delayed.

I’ve ordered a Lenovo package that requires a signature and doesn’t allow digital signatures or redirection to a local UPS store. I’m not sure anyone will be home today (the package was supposed to arrive Oct 12, but yesterday this was updated to arrive today Oct 8 by 9pm) so I signed up for text updates on my package. Instantly my package changed from “on the way” to “we have your package” with the delivery date changed to tomorrow. I absolutely will not be home tomorrow.

Is this because I opted into texts for this delivery? Is there any way of undoing this?

Elizabeth Arden retractable lip brush

Anybody familiar with this? I’m curious when it was sold. My mom can’t remember when she got it, or if it was a gift or a hand me down etc. Google isn’t helping much tbh!

Either way I thought this little beauty might be appreciated on this subreddit.

ID on these red Mary Jane’s from the Candy L’eau ads?

I’ve been wondering about these shoes for 13 years. They feature prominently in the commercials Wes Anderson directed for the Candy L’eau campaign in 2013. I’m not super familiar with Prada tbh, so I hoped somebody here could give me more info on these shoes? I love them so much and my search always leads me to shoes that are similar but not the same. I’m assuming they’re Prada shoes, because I figure everyone in these commercials would be clothed exclusively in Prada?

Which doctor diagnosed you?

I’m hoping to get an official diagnosis so I can get a management plan. I’m not sure what type of hypermobility I have — I score high on the beighton scale and I do not find the EDS symptoms I see listed online resonate with me

I’ve heard rheumatologists are the doctor’s best suited to diagnose hEDS, but since I’m pretty sure I do not have that, I’m not sure where to go. Do I still seek out a rheumatologist, or an orthopedist, or…? Who is best qualified?

If yoga is a no-go, how to fix muscle stiffness/increase flexibility?

I’ve recently come to understand that I’m hypermobile, and all the ways it makes me bendy. But my back is always stiff, all of the time. I find this can cause me pain in my every day life and it gets in the way during Adult Activities (no arch in my back, if you get what I mean). There’s seriously no give. I also carry a lot of tension in my thighs and have really tight hamstrings, and this poses problems in my daily life too.

The usual solution would be yoga but I know that’s not wise for those of us who are hypermobile.

For reference I do work out four times a week, usually an hour or so of strength training/lifting and 30 mins of cardio. Currently I’m focusing on my deep core to help with my posture/pelvic tilt. I’ve never given my flexibility much thought because I always confused my really bendy joints for flexible muscles.

Edit: To clarify my main issue isn’t the back pain ! I have much less back pain when I’m actively strength training as I have been this year. But man my back is stiff!! And when that stiffness faces against a need to move a certain way, soreness ensues.

Wedding Cake recs?

If anybody has a fave wedding cake, I’d love to hear about it. I usually go for edibles but the person I’m hanging out with is into flower and I really don’t know which companies are selling good flower or at least good wedding cake. I always see such mixed reviews for NY companies.

I hear pre rolls aren’t as good as whole buds but I’m down for either or.

Alternatively, if you have any recs at all for good flower to smoke when you’re gonna fuck, I’d love to hear it. I always hear wedding cake is the best but I really wouldn’t know.

Linkbuds Open low audio in one ear

Hi. I’ve got low audio in my right earbud, even when I push my phones balance all the way to the right and amp up the volume. With normal balance, my left earbud dominates. They’re both clear of earwax and I’ve tried factory resetting and disconnecting and initializing etc etc. Anybody have any idea what’s going on?

These were a gift so I’m not sure how the warranty works, and even so trying to find help on the Sony site seems impossible.

How do I save this ZZ plant

Hi all. This plant I’ve had for many years was never the most beautiful but her stalks were upright and green. I think my grandmother watered it several times while I was away from home and when I came back it looked like this. A search on this sub tells me it’s root rot, how do I save it? I want to repot it but is there anything I can do to save the stalks that haven’t turned fully yellow yet?

It sits indoors and gets indirect bright light, right next to a huge pothos that is doing just fine. It has lived in this window for years. I think the issue must be overwatering. Is there anything I should know about repotting this to keep it from getting any worse?

Can IIH come and go? Does this impact diagnosis?

Hi all! In 2018 I started experiencing really severe pulsatile tinnitus. Doctors told me these things can just happen. In 2022 I saw an ophthalmologist because I would sometimes lose vision in one eye when I was in dark rooms. He told me to see a neurologist about potentially having IIH. Life got extremely overwhelming in other ways, plus my PT faded away and the vision loss became inconsistent. So I put it off until now, when I noticed my vision issues returning. Occasionally I have mild PT, but it is no longer constant and overbearing.

My question is can this come and go on its own? My neurology appointment is in October and I’m concerned that because my symptoms are inconsistent and currently not severe, I won’t get taken seriously or properly diagnosed. My pulsatile tinnitus was dismissed for a long time and I was shocked when the ophthalmologist told me it was likely tied to my vision issues. My understanding is diagnosis involves measuring the pressure inside my skull — will it be below the proper threshold because my symptoms aren’t incessant anymore? I really want a proper diagnosis and I regret not seeing a neurologist immediately in 2022.

Lower Hudson Valley NY

This tiny thing has been going along the perimeter of my room for a few days now. He just keeps running along my crown molding and stops now and then to rest.

I saw it made a very small and not at all pretty cobweb in one corner. I cannot stress enough that it is TINY. I had to stand on my bed and stretch my hands as close to it as I could and zoom in to get this photo. It might be dime/penny/nickel sized?

I’m rather arachnophobic but I want to lessen that fear. An ID on this spider would be so helpful!

Before —> After, Before —> After, and one current unposed picture. I can say with confidence that my butt never had a crease/curve at the bottom like it does in the last photo. I always disliked that lack of volume at the bottom (most notable in my left leg in photo #3) and that’s why I have no unposed before photos. Before my butt was very top heavy with very little bottom shelf unless I twisted myself into a pretzel trying to flex and pose. I tried my best to recreate the before photos as closely as possible!

I started working out January 7 and took the after photos today. I skipped the gym for about 3 weeks in April and today was my first leg day since April 13 so my progress has stalled a bit. Planet fitness app says I’ve gone 45 times this year, and about half of those were lower body days meaning this is progress after about 22 lower body days!

My glute routine, 2x a week:

Abductors (seated upright with my back against the seat): 4 sets of 8

Back Extension machine: 4 sets of 8

Seated leg curl: 4 sets of 8

Single leg press: 4 sets of 8

Incline treadmill walk for 30 mins at the end of the workout.

I make sure to go until form failure and do progressive overload. I stick to machine exercises as I’m mildly hyper mobile and struggle with my balance. I don’t track my exact protein intake to avoid making myself crazy, but I have made sure I’m getting more protein than before by adding daily 50g protein shakes and more cottage cheese/tuna/etc in my diet. I’ve also cut down on frequent high calorie snacks.

This is all part of a body recomp. In early January none of these pants would have fit me as I’d gained weight.

*edit: sorry about the typo in the title!
