More than 20 years have passed since changes were made to the original 1991 Law. Have any of you settled in Romania and learned Romanian? Do you feel any connection to Romania? Have you met Romanians where you live? Do you go to Romania for vacation? was the reacquisition process difficult?
Are there any of you (non-eu) living in Sweden affected by the changes? Now that the income requirement is strictly 1) employment income 2) run your own business. Will you stay, open yourself a business or leave?
Was my grandfather an anomaly having his records match exactly in Bulgaria and Turkey? Why's everyone else having or had problems matching their grandparents birthday? and why did everyone take extra Turkish last names? Were they forced at the border? People were not forced to have Bulgarian last names at that era. Was my grandfather an anomaly because he knew how to read and write and from a city centre?
Doing some reading into this and apparently due to the border closure between 1974 and 2003 Turkish Cypriots were unable to get ROC passports. Was this also the case for t.cypriots living in UK or Australia? Were they turned away if they went to ROC consulates abroad before 2003? Or they didn't bother because Cyprus wasn't an EU member?
