I cried today
I cried for as long as it took
I felt it so deep within me
An intense aching in the core of my being
Working it’s way up into the centre of my face
So much pressure until the seal broke
The energy finds a way out
Tears pool up into my screens of perception
Allowing sorrow to exit my body
Evaporation eventually takes that pain
Moving it into the unknown

Where were you this late afternoon?
Where were you this late afternoon?
“Oh, I just went for a walk.”
“A walk? Did anything interesting happen?”
Well, let’s see…
As I started my walk, I happened to have two separate encounters with these tiny red squirrels.
The first seemed to think I was much too close to her tree. She loudly announced herself, scolding me as she followed my every step from the trunk to the branches above. Eventually, I left peacefully, and she was satisfied.
The second was different. More curious than defensive, it slowly made its way to a short, stubby branch directly in front of me and began nibbling on a small pinecone. I admired its quiet presence for a moment, then continued on.
The trail curves gently, almost too close to the lake’s edge. As I carefully walked, making sure I didn’t accidentally slip into the water, I noticed a patch of thistles in their final stage of life. Their seed heads had burst into soft white puffs, slowly surrendering themselves to the wind. I stood still, examining the quiet beauty of a cycle coming to an end.
I paused and looked across the lake toward the valley. There stood the mountains—Pyramid Mountain on my right and Edith Cavell on my left—a masterpiece no artist could improve upon.
As I moved closer to the forest’s doorway, I noticed a massive old pine tree lying across the trail, its roots torn completely from the earth. It was too grand to climb over, so I walked around it. Its exposed roots revealed the hidden underworld beneath the forest floor.
The smell of burnt wood grew stronger.
A few more fallen trees barred my path.
Charred trunks stood upright like obsidian spears piercing the landscape, their blackened surfaces shimmering ever so slightly in the evening sun.
I thought to myself, Life is fleeting, and change is inevitable. Whether we welcome it or not, it is always coming.
I kept walking along my favourite path—somehow unfamiliar, yet deeply familiar.
Then I found a perfectly good Adirondack chair resting quietly off the path and at the water’s edge.
I sat.
The grasshoppers applauded with the rhythmic clap of their wings.
Large dragonflies buzzed through the air, having their supper while graciously removing the mosquitoes from my personal space.
Then a small, wet weasel emerged from the tangled roots of an old fallen log that stretched halfway into the lake. It cautiously approached my foot, moving forward, then backward, trying to decide whether I could be trusted enough to cross my path.
Finally, it committed.
It darted past me, then stopped. It turned to study me one last time, lingering just long enough for us to acknowledge each other’s existence before disappearing back into its own journey.
What a special moment in time.
Two lives intersecting for only a heartbeat.
A loon drifted onto the lake, perhaps to fish, or perhaps simply for an evening swim. It filled its lungs with fresh air before releasing its unmistakable call. The sound echoed across the water, soothing my restless soul.
The cool evening breeze reminded me that autumn is near.
And somehow, after witnessing so many endings, I left feeling more alive than when I arrived
A Teal Stone Thrown
While walking through the woods on a warm sunny autumn afternoon
A teal stone caught his eye
Picking it up with curiosity and feeling it’s pull of intention
Holding it for a moment and exploring it’s every dimension
“Maybe this stone was not meant for me” he thought
He than threw the stone with conviction off the beaten path
A mere moment pasted
A teal stone catches her eye
She picks it up and admires it’s uniqueness
The colour so bold and a shape defined as it should be
“This stone was not meant for me” she pondered
Maybe it’s meant for him
Passing the stone of quantum entanglement
Holding it carefully
“Maybe it was meant for me”, he considered
She looks at him with admiration
“Whatever was meant for you, will always find a way back”
It doesn’t mean anything without a ring…..
I often think about all the times you use to propose to me in the middle of the street
In the early hours of the morning
I will always hold a place for those memories
Us, drunk holding hands and stumbling home, after leaving the old English Pub
You, loud and silly
laughing about our shenanigans throughout the night
Nostalgic songs played while we swayed to the rhythm with our youthful bodies
Our understanding of each other’s soul ran deep into our blood
A Cosmic occurrence, if you’re so lucky
A groundhog night
Getting down on one knee, so traditional
The street light creating a stage for your foolishness
Will you marry me! will you marry me!
Me laughing
Get up, get up
It doesn’t mean anything without a ring……..
No One’s Man
You are no one’s man.
You choose to stay free,
taking what you desire.
Charismatic to a fault,
a jester’s mask
hiding unhealed childhood anguish.
Driven by an unquenchable thirst,
never truly satisfied.
Or maybe…
you’re just a narcissist.
Your need to be worshipped
should have been my first clue.
Yet I loved worshipping you.
I played along with your games,
never realizing
they were designed for me to lose.
And I did.
Because you are no one’s man.
Duality
Hello light
Hello my love for you and everyone
Wanting to spread kindness, harmony and joy
Giving you as much as I can
with out losing myself
Unfortunately sometimes I do……
I can go without many things
especially when seeing that I can bring
so much happiness to your life
by giving as much as I can to you
Please tell me anything you feel comfortable sharing
It’s usually more than you expected, and that’s okay
I will be here for you as long as you need me to
until I’m not…….
Hello Shadow
Hello my deep ocean of sadness and uninvited pain
Where were you hiding all this time?
I never see you coming and I never know how long you’ll stay.
Why do I feel you in dark sensual desires in my mind?
Why are you under my skin
like silk softly caresses
until it’s tightly pulled around my neck
I know you’re there
but you still surprise me.
You break my heart
until my light
puts it back together.
One Word
I asked you just one word
and you said Sunshine
The sun was shining that beautiful afternoon by the water
We skipped stones and enjoyed our feet in the sand
The dock was a portal to our little world of mountains, the lake and nature
Rescuing bees, dragonflies and mice became a purpose
Laughter will always be the gateway to joy
I asked you just one word,
and you said sunshine
A moment I hold in my heart forever
What a beautiful word
