Sometimes i feel the direction of the anime is intentionally made unhinged, ive read lns and i know its in character of some characters but moments such as this, Minoru's Va in anime, and those extra gags.. it feels intentional, for the sake of comedic relief.. then again this is teis, even a brutal scene can be treated as nothing serious here, 0 tension but i aint complaining.

Because that could explain the similarities and why Seelies/crystalflies are accessible to use/inhabit them temporarily to travel inside ToS and Outside the temple, around sanatorium..
