My husband and I met when I was 18, he was 20. We’ve been together for a decade now, and married for 5 of those years. When we first met, we created a 10 year plan for ourselves. People told us things like - “that will change”, “you’ll both change so much throughout your 20’s”, etc. Here we are a decade later, we followed that initial 10 year plan to a tee, and we didn’t change. We’ve both grown, matured, and accomplished many things, but at our core we have not changed - at least not in the way that people seem to reference. We’re madly in love, obsessed with each other to the point of being mistaken as newlyweds, and love the life that we’ve built together.
Is this common for other couples throughout their 20’s and beyond? If you met your partner at 18, did they change throughout their 20’s? I’m curious to see how many other couples can relate to our relationship. I’ve had a pretty sheltered upbringing and haven’t had any exposure to situations different than mine, so I’m just curious.
