EU (2024/1799) Right to repair will kick on July 2026 - Will Volvo open VIDA access to EU Consumers like in the US;

I heard that a new EU Directive for Right to repair will kick on July 2026. According to the info car manufacturers will have to provide access to diagnostic tools.

I am assuming Volvo would allow Vida access. This will be really good news and I hope Volvo will comply.

Some apps cannot write to Storage anymore. Android 16

It seems something might have changed over the last few weeks, probably after an phone update. The phone is a Samsung S24 Ultra with Android 16.

For some reason I have multiple Apps that fail to write to Storage. For example Car Scanner used to be able to write data in the device storage and then it stopped without any errors. I didn't know what was causing this.

Then a few days ago I tried to use and FTP Client and I realized I couldn't download any files due to being unable to write to the storage.

I then observed that these apps have somehow lost permissions for file access.

Is there any settings I could modify to allow use OR somehow these need to be updated by the developers?

Anyone has seen this issue.

Thanks

Volvo Engine changes and Euro 7. Looks like "significant" drop in Power is at Play.

I have been following news relating to the adaption of Euro 7 by end of 2026 and it seems that most if not all manifacturers including Volvo are introducting Miller cycle engine changes.

One recent article I read a few weeks ago mentioned but somehow the math doesn't add up:

The 2.0-liter gasoline engine now operates on the Miller cycle. Its power has dropped from 253 hp to 179 hp, and torque has decreased from 350 Nm to 280 Nm. Meanwhile, the electric motor gains strength, outputting 156 hp instead of the previous 145 hp. Combined system power now stands at 335 hp, down from 350 hp.

It also looks like the Miller Cycle engines were starting to appear from the 2025 Mild-Hybrid Models

Max charge rate for XC60 PHEV (EU) on single phase 220V

I was wondering what is the MAX charge rate you can get from a "Home" Charger assuming you have a 220V single phase Service.

On a public charger I get 6.2Kwh and as far as I know these are 3-Phase. On a single phase I suspect I won't be able to use more that 16AMps (3.6Kwh) even if the charter is 7.2KWh capable (32Amps).

Volvo includes a 10AMP charger cable just to not have any liability for house fires in inadequate wiring situations.

Is this the right assumption.

Ansible AAP Doesn't find collections but running the same playbook from the execution environment directly finds them

For some reason when I run a playbook for accessing Huawei Network Devices through APP DOESN't find the collection (community.network) and gives the following error:

"ERROR! Couldn't resolve module/action 'community.network.ce_command'. This often indicates a misspelling, missing collection, or incorrect module path.

However when I run the same playbook from the EE Pod directly it finds the collection.

192.168.X.X> ANSIBLE_NETWORK_IMPORT_MODULES: enabled

<192.168.X.X> ANSIBLE_NETWORK_IMPORT_MODULES: found community.network.ce_command at /usr/share/ansible/collections/ansib                     le_collections/community/network/plugins/modules/ce_command.py

<192.168.X.X> ANSIBLE_NETWORK_IMPORT_MODULES: running community.network.ce_command

Even the Redhat engineer mentioned that the collection is not loading but I showed the "ansible-galaxy collection list" from the EE and it showed the modules.

Is there a way to find out why the collection is not found when the Playbook is executed from the AAP? Are we missing any settings?

It seems that there are 2 versions of the Oil filter housihg and also the Oil filters are different. Has anyone's had an issue with Oil filter mismatch. I am planning to do an oil change in my 26' XC60 but I am afraid of what aftermarket filter to use. I have a Purulator (L21350) and an STP but none have the "Relief" Slots of the newer Oil filter.

Has anyone have had any comcern with this.?

I was wondering what are the oil filter/housing changes over the years for the SPA Series (2.0L 4-cylinder). It seems there are 2 filter housing parts (31321084 32140027) the newer one has some kind of diamond indicating the newer filter/housing.

I was watching a youtube Video a few days ago and the person tried to fit a UFI 25.VCC.01 in the newer housing(with the diamond) and it didn't fit.

If there a way I can get a cheap replacement aftermarket oil filter housing for the newer style (Diamond)? I always like to have spare oil plugs and probably in this case a filter housing.

I was reading that the PHEVs need a special procedure for replacing the 12V Aux Battery.

According to the info I gathered it seems that the PHEVs are either charging or draining the battery when the vehicle is not in "Sleep Mode", while parked, which could cause a "spark" that could damanage computer modules while the battery is disconnected.

The idea is to monitor the 12V battery Drain rate to determine when the Vehicle goes to "Sleep" mode before the Negative terminal is disconnected.

Is there any procedure listed in Vida for the Replacement to avoid damanging any of the car modules?

Maybe that's why the dealer wants to charge $600-$700 to replace the battery?
