I was wondering if there is any SPECIAL technology that protects the Volvo PHEV ICE when the engine wakes up during sudden acceleration and pushes the car to 3-4kK RPM with turbo boost. If I am not mistaken the car has a mechanical oil pump with nothing extra.

The idea that a "Cold" ICE wakes up and it is asked to Rev up to 3-4K RPM in 2-3 seconds under boost gives me shivers and makes me wonder how much worst this is versus starting the car and letting it idle until it warms up.

I understand that there could be ECM failsafes that prohibit the car from revving above specific RPM or the Boost pressure is limited until the engine warms up but I am also wondering how much wear happens when the engine wakes up and takes 2-3 seconds to lubricate the internals.

We moved from the city to our Summer vacation spot for the month and since I started driving

I noticed that the Ensimated Electric Range changed from 72km to 60km on a full battery.

Also note that we have to drive down from the mountain for about 10km which means the car usually picks up 5-7 km of range downwill and it consumes 18-20km uphill (for the same 10km distance)

I am guessing the Range is calculated based on the driving cycles we have to go through and usually going upwill consumes a bit more based on the range.

Is this an actual value or it is derived based on the driving changes over the last few weeks?

So I am assuming when we move back to the city(where almost everything is flat) the EV Range will return to the original 72km of full charge.

Is this correct?

I have a 25m extension cord with housing (Black and Decker) that has an integrated thermal switch which is supposed to trigger at 58c. I was able to charge the car over a few times and at first it would trip the housing thermal switch during the day with the sun fully on and now it has started to do this over the night which probably means the switch is failing. It has gotten to the point that I have to reset the switch every 5 minutes.

The Cable is supposed to be rated at 16 Amps and I am using the OEM 10Amp Volvo cable. I inderstand that the Volvo cable can detect over-temperature and adjust the charging rate accordingly. Also the power socket is on a 16Amp circuit and the circuit Breaker has never been triggered

I have ordered a single phase EV charger with adjustable current and a "plain" extension cord.

Has anyone experienced similar issues and do they have any recommendations?

Are there any concerns/tips when driving on mountainous roads on a PHEV (XC60) with the ERAD?

In our vacation place we have to drive a 10km mountainous road.

On the downhill road the car is driven on B mode and it picks up 12-15km(very surprised since the road is only 10km ) of electric range however on the uphill it consumed 3.7Kwn (37km/100km) which means double power use. The car seems to be handling fine and the ice kicked in for 2 minutes (probably to help cool the ERAD/battery)

The 140Hp ERAD motor seems to be doing fine uphill and when I parked the car I noticed a message popping up showing a spinning cooling fan and about Cooling something (can't remember since I only glimpsed a little.)

Then the Cooling fans kick on after the car is parked to cool down the EV / Batteries.

I could understand that the older weaker 87Hp ERAD-1 could have some issues with the car weight.

Are there any tips or concerns anyone can share?

Does anyone know if there are plans for Volvo to introduce the Bird's Eye view for the 360 Camera Owners with the newer Infortainment systen?

A few days ago I got prompted to install the Latest software and surprisingly enough it clear most DTC errors.

Before I got 4 IHU codes that would come back after every reset and 1 BCM2 error about performance and degraded operation.

Now I only get a CCM error regarding a Missing message.

The whole process went pretty smooth except the fact that the car lost internet access after the upgrade but was restored after I pressed the "rear defroster" button for 10-15 seconds that resets the modem.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Does anyone know what is the latest Polestar Engineered Bading in the newer cars.

I have seen the 1-inch Blue/White badges that go in the trunk. Some of them say Polestar Engineered and I have seen 1-2 that have the Polestar Star. There are also badges for the front grill which probably go for cars that have the Polestar Engineered badge on the grill.

If I am not mistaken the latest itteration has the big 2inch white polestar badges.

Is there any online info that explains the badging changes?

It is a little bit confusing.

Assuming you get a completely dead 12V main battery can you "wake" up the inverter if the main 12V battery is flat? My understanding is that even with the EV battery having juice you still need a somehow operational 12V battery for all the car modules to work.

Or you have to dig out the 12V from the trunk and trickle charge it?

It seems like your MY27 Volvo will start "watching" you. If I am not mistaked this is supposed to be mandated for 2027 US Cars and might be coming to the EU sooner than later

I am wondering how unreliable Volvos are compared to BMWs, Audis, Mercedes, Land Rovers etc.

I have been watching a few TikTok and YouTube Videos where people have been complaining about their "Luxury" cars and I STILL haven't seen a single person complain about their Volvo. It this because Volvos are Niche cars and not many people drive them or because all the millennial and Gen Y are into social media and complain about everything.

The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

I have observed this issue already 2 times where I noticed the car creeping (while in B Mode) after a full stop. I am also using hold mode

In both cases the "Creep Mode" was turned on by it's own and I had to turn it off both times.

Has anyone noticed anything like this?

I don't know what the issue is but for some reason the prices of the items I added in the checkout changed noticibly after the payment was made. Also trying to do a price adjustment doesn't work.

For example:

Item 1: 7.76 E to 8.16 E

Item 2: 2.27 E to 2.73 E

Item 3: 10.75 E to 13.17 E

Basically I was charged 43.14 E instead of 37.73 E which comes to around 5.41 extra. I don't know how this trickery works but it seems like they are trying to recuperate some monie from previous refunds I got without returning the item.

I have a planned trip in Southern Europe and the boat transport company requires 40% charge level. I don't want to empty the battery completely but they are VERY strict with the charge levels.

If I need to drain the battery without driving the car around is there an easier way to drain the battery like turning on the Heat or AC with the remote climate function?

The distance to the port is about 6-7km and ABRP estimates about 2Kwh of energy to the port so I need at most 7.2Kwh of charge left when I board the boat.

I was wondering what happens to items that haven't been delivered yet but the orders were placed before the July 1 landmark date with the 3€ surcharge. Isn't the surcharge supposed to be collected directly from Aliexpress during the order process
