Tips on moving and starting over on preps?

Hi everyone! I’ve been stressed lately because I have a big move coming up and I’ll basically be starting my preps from scratch and I don’t know where to start. I feel the world has changed so much and I’m feeling so overwhelmed. Food shortages, oil prices, extreme weather events, AI, etc. I delete my apps and turn off my phone every few days just to give my mind a break.

I’m a SAHM of two kids who are not in school yet. I am an American that is currently living in a village in the Middle East (lived here for one year) and spent the past few months super stressed about the war and protecting my family. Rockets going over our house a few months ago, daily sirens and loud booms, nuclear threats and now we are getting extreme heat and minor food shortages and gas price increases. I have extensive preps in my home here and made many connections in case SHTF.

Anyway we couldn’t leave sooner because we simply didn’t have the funds or a place to stay in the US and we were not sure if it was safe. My husband is a truck driver. But now we are coming back to the US in 2 weeks and have a nice house to rent with a small plot of land. We are moving to Michigan.

I don’t want to spend a ton of money buying stuff right away but I want to feel prepared as I feel this summer and fall are going to be very hard on everyone with some unprecedented events occurring.

What would you prioritize if you were starting over with young kids in a new place? Not just “stuff” but skills and knowledge as well.

Thank you so much!!

Moving to Dearborn. What’s the best neighborhood/area to raise a young family?

Salam everyone! I see this question gets asked sometimes but I would love some input for our situation.

I’m an American who’s been living in Jordan for the last 12 months with my two kids (4 and 2). They speak Arabic now and I would love them to continue to improve their language skills as I only speak English and it seems like Dearborn would be a nice place to settle and raise a family.

My husband is a truck driver and before we left the US we lived in northern Virginia. It was way too expensive for the income he has so we decided to stay in Jordan so he can save up. With his trucking job he can live anywhere but just needs to transfer his license. We want to move to the Dearborn area to have access to Arabic language programs/preschools and affordable Islamic schools if possible. He is going this week to check out the area but doesn’t really know where to start.

What neighborhoods or streets would you recommend that is close to good schools and where we can affordably rent a home and possibly own in the future? Thank you! :)

Moving back to the US after time abroad. Any tips on doing it all on my own again?

Hi everyone
I’m a SAHM of two. With a 4 y/o and 2 y/o. For the past 10 months I’ve been living abroad in my husbands home country and pretty much have 24/7 help with cooking, cleaning and childcare because I live above his family in our own apartment. We decided to try this lifestyle so the kids can learn his family’s language and culture and so I could get a break. My kids always have someone to play with and I always have someone to sit and talk to. It’s exhausting sometimes as an introvert but it’s seriously amazing for my kids and their social development.

My husband works as a truck driver so he’s been in the US this whole time and has visited us about 3 times since we moved here. However, we are ready to come back to the US and be reunited as a family. I’m so worried about doing everything on my own again and to be alone for days or weeks at a time with no support system. My family is not supportive or helpful and also live about 8 hours away from us. My oldest just turned four last week and neither has been in any daycare or schooling. I don’t think he will start school until 5 or 6 anyway. Do you have any tips for me to keep them busy and engaged and SOCIAL? I’m not social usually and don’t have many friends so I would love some ideas please!!! 🙏

Thank you ❤️❤️

Has anyone stayed at 0.5mg for the majority of their journey?

Hi everyone I’ve been on semaglutide for 11 weeks now and I’ve lost 23 lbs so far. I did 4 weeks of .25mg and I’ve been on 0.5mg ever since. I have very minimal side effects and I feel great.

I would love to stay on 0.5mg for as long as possible. Has anyone kept losing after 8 weeks of 0.5mg or did a time eventually come when you had to move up? I’m asking because I have a limited number of pens as I’m getting them overseas.

Thanks

Unsatisfied housewife that feels stuck

A woman that seems to have the picture perfect life but feels different from everyone around her. Disconnected from her home life. Longing for passion and desire. Bonus if she does something crazy, has an affair, runs away or is hiding a second life/inner world. Maybe one where she’s in love with a neighbor or another unhappily married man.

What should I bring back to the US?

Salam everyone! Happy Independence Day 🇯🇴⚔️🦅

Sadly, I’ll be leaving Jordan after living here some time to go back to the US for one year. I will really miss living here and was wondering what are things I should bring back to the US?? Anything medical I should get done? I have about 3 months before I leave 🥲

Right now I have on my list:
Contact lenses
Tretinoin cream

Hijabs and abayas

Zaatar
Zalatimo sweets
Tea pot
Coffee and coffee pot

What else would you bring to remind you of home? 🥹❤️

Leaving Jordan with ozempic medication?

Hello everyone. I’ve lived in Jordan some time now and I have been taking Ozempic while I’m here and it’s helped me lose weight and control my blood sugars. I feel much better. It’s a life saving medicine for me.

It’s really cheap here compared to the US and I want to take 6 boxes back to the US with me. Will I have any issues leaving with this much medication? I know technically 3 months supply is ok but I really want to take 6 with me. Has anyone done something similar and had any issues at Queen Alia? Thanks

Airplane travel with multiple boxes of ozempic?

Hello everyone. I’ve been living outside of the US for some time and started taking ozempic in this country 6 months ago. It’s available over the counter here and only about $80 a month for me. I’m seeing great success at .5mg and would love to continue taking it.

However I am moving back to the US soon and want to bring 6 boxes of ozempic with me on the airplane. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can keep all the boxes cold for a 12 hour flight and if I will have any issues entering the US with this much medication? Anyone who has done the same before??

Thank you !
