[Discussion] How to move on?

I’m probably making a mistake posting this here but I’m at the end of my wits. First of all, I want to acknowledge how privileged I am. Never been to war zone, never faced famine, always had a roof over my head.

From a young age, I wanted to study physics. I got obsessed with it, beyond what most would consider normal. Around 2019, I fell into a pretty deep depression around the time I was 20. I lost five years to that. From 20-25, I didn’t get any new experience. For me, life essentially stopped at 19 and somehow resumed at 25. The world I returned to was foreign to me, alien. I couldn’t interact with people. I managed to graduate and got into a masters program. Around February, the reality of losing five years worth of opportunities and experiences hit me straight in the face. I withdrew from society. I barely managed to pass the exams, but not good enough to get the masters. A diploma? Maybe. But not the masters.

Now, I realise I’m rambling. Forgive me, I’m going through some of the worst times of my life. It hurts so badly. I’m 27 now. Yet I’m no different to how I was at 16. I’ve lost so much time. I’m so far behind my planned trajectory. I know that I can never catch up, no matter how much I try but it hurts like hell. A part of me just wants to give up, completely withdrawing from the world and demanding answers that I don’t have, like why did I go through all that trouble? I struggled so much and for what? Just so I am reminded how far behind I am? It hurts so bad. Look, I had clinical depression, but I’m still living with the consequences.

I didn’t choose to lose those years. Yet, my mind throws out these childish tantrums. Life happens, it’s not fair. I understand that. I also understand that there’s no irl karma. Working hard doesn’t have 1:1 translation into success.

But I’m struggling to move on. Please, I’m at my wit’s end. How does everyone else manage to do it?

Blue (L) Joycon2 thumb cap fell off

Hi, I bought my switch 2 last year, in July. The left thumb cap just randomly fell off. It was a bit cracked, the silicone I mean. Maybe half a millimetre in length. Almost invisible, but I still couldn’t get the thumb cap to fit.

I’m not sure what to do. Do I send it back to Nintendo and hope their 24 months warranty saves me? Do I get a new joycon2, (seems like a waste as the rest of the joycon works fine). I’m panicking, so I’m not sure what to do.

[Discussion] I need help

I’ve been in uni for almost a decade now. And all I’ve got to show for it is a crummy graduation.

I don’t know how to word this. I’m probably coming off as a lunatic but I need some advice. Let’s start at the beginning, I started uni in 2017 and I was supposed to graduate back in 2020. Due to a long stint with depression, I had to take a five year hiatus. Which meant I managed to graduate in 2025. I’m doing my masters now. I’ve always loved my subject, and wanted to do a PhD and get into research. But after almost a decade now, after going through hell I’m not even halfway through. I’ve lost my youth, turning 27 this year. I’m just at my wits end. It seems that after everything my future is full of more of the same. Yeah I know the other side of the coin, get a job after my masters. But it’s more of the same isn’t it? More uncertainty.

Being a student isn’t all rainbows and unicorns. I’ve been broke for so long and I don’t know how much more I can take.

I’m such an idiot. One part of me craves stability (or being on the road to it) and the other wants to do a PhD. I don’t know what to do. I feel like I’m being torn apart. I feel like I’ve ruined my life. Id allocated time for a PhD. A decade, but after almost finishing it, I can’t help but feel how little I’ve accomplished.

I don’t even know the purpose of this post
