My Ranking on Who Needs More Skins.

My Ranking on Who Needs More Skins.

Explanations of the Tiers: (( from the top down ))

  • I think we can all gather the reasons for this tier
  • " Was I supposed to pick up my kid from having good skins school? no ... I don't think I have a kid."
  • I think they deserve not only More, but Good Skins
  • Lower on the amount of good skins , but I don't have strong feelings on them getting more.
  • Good skins, good amount of releases.
  • like the other category but in the other way.
  • OKAY YES THEY'RE POPULAR - COOL IT FOR A MINUTE.
  • WE CANNOT EAT ANYMORE - GOOD LORD - ENOUGH !!!
  • Luna Snow.

THIS IS FOR FUN AND SILLY / PLEASE DON'T EAT ME ALIVE.

Need advice on getting over something.

Hello,

First post here.. and I wanted to ask for a little bit of advice on something I’ve sort of struggled with a lot. Admittedly it’s gotten better just with time and getting older but something that comes up for me every now and then. I promise this relates to dnd of course.

Comparison is the thief of joy as they say… and both myself and my really good friend dm for essentially the same group of people. And this nagging plaguing fear I have is that, well of course they prefer the game that my friend runs over mine. Case in point; is that we try and switch off and on who runs on the weekends (since that’s our only time to play really) - and whenever we manage to schedule for the other game there’s a lot of fanfare and excitement in the discord for that game. Compared to mine when we schedule it - there aren’t cheers or celebration. And I’ll admit, that gets to me. it makes me bummed out.

A couple key points of context is that - this other game has been going on for much longer and is closer to finishing. Mine is a newer game and I believe everyone hasn’t entirely fallen in love with or got to know their characters as deeply as the other game. So I can rationalize and reason out that they’re probably just more excited to play because that means we get closer to a conclusion and a finale and all that good stuff. I get that-

I guess I just wish I felt like I make my game as exciting of a prospect to play as my friends game. When I frame comparison in my head that way, that’s what always comes up. That my game must not be fun, and my friends game is.

At the end of the day, I just want my friends to have fun. And when I compare myself (now and in the past) it’s lead to some pretty bad mental health spirals for myself. Fortunatley I’ve matured past the point of DM-ing being SO tied up in my personality now that it doesn’t hurt as much whenever I think about these things… but there is an element of it that stings still. I think probably because I care at the end of the day, if they’re having fun, if they want to play, if they’re invested. I care about that.

Perhaps what i’m looking for is a solution for communicating how I feel with them without it becoming a situation where I’m not running or playing in either game (not that I think it would come to that- I just worry)

Apologies if that was long winded and too whiney … I just - dunno what to do with these thought patterns.

EDIT!!

!! EDIT !! THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR REPLIES.. Your sage wisdom and words of kindness - I really appreciate it. I’m taking it all and and reflecting on what triggers my insecurities about running games. And - fortunately, I think I’m gonna be okay. :) and it’s in no small part to how supportive you guys are - thank you !!

I don’t know how Reddit works entirely - but I chose to make an edit to the post rather than reply individually. But- just know I read every comment! Thank you!

EDIT !! ^^

first hate comment?

I spoiled the post for death threats.

some crazy work on something that I only just posted and - i'm wondering if it's honestly not just a spam / copy pasta ... because what genuinely would warrant this kind of reaction... mind you on a fic that isn't even finished - and my very first work on the site ...

Friend (who lives in Central Indiana) sent me this photo of a weird bug, my preliminary guess is some sort of fly or bee ? (No stinger though)

Many cheers. Thank you!

For context,

Also on the rare chance that you're either of my two players ... Shoo !! Away with you !

This is a one shot turned two shot- which centers around two bewitched fey twins that awaken in a prison of their mothers making, getting their memories of a happier life back when they steal back their rightful swords. The players come to find out that a scorned hag sought revenge on their mother by stealing the heart of her husband.

The insult leaves her (the mom) to turn the land frozen (very The Snow Queen folktale) and the hag installs herself as the ruler of this dominion.

I've run this story premise for about 3-4 groups now. This one went so differently that it turned it into a two shot. With the resolution happening tonight. (Lol)

Basically they got caught by the hag WAY earlier than any other party. Polymorphed her. And with no clear resolution to the story. (Cause she would just fly away - they turned her into a duck) - and a final confrontation being in game - an hour away - they opted to strike up a deal with the hag. She gets to test them.

So, comes to my question.

I want to design almost a Coraline-esque maze / game / puzzle where they have to secure the heart of their mothers once more. But I'm struggling to come up with the actual design / gameplay elements of that.

Any help would be so wonderful.

Ps. If anyone is interested in running this premise for themselves. And wants to know more about the set up let me know - and Please do. I've always found it so fun !!

Edit:
TLDR: A HAG IS CONSTRUCTING A LABYRINTH FOR THE PLAYERS- I NEED HELP MAKING A FUN ENCOUNTER IN SAID LABYRINTH, WITH A CAROLINE FLAIR.
