This vs Vraylar?

Has anyone been on both? I’ve been on Caplyta for something close to 6 months now (including titrating). It’s definitely helped with my depression, but I’m still experiencing a profound lack of motivation and anhedonia. I’m thinking about asking my psych about it. Any experiences?

Has anyone tried maizinol for sleep?

Came across this at the store, but havnt heard much about it.

Ive been in search of a supplement that

  1. Keeps me asleep
  2. Doesn’t leave me feeling groggy in the morning
  3. Promotes deep / restful sleep

Melatonin works for 1 but not 2 or 3. Glycine hits 2 and 3 but not 1. Magnesium works the best (though doesn’t always hit 1 either), but I already take it during the day for anxiety, so don’t want to go over the upper daily limit.

I was hoping maybe this would work, or any other suggestions?

How did this work for schizoaffective?

Hi all. My wife was recently diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder unfortunately. Her doctor prescribed her this as it has low side-effects among SGAs. She has improved compared to before, but is still not completely stable (going on 6 weeks now). For those of you with schizoaffective / schizophrenia, how well and for how long did it work? I would appreciate some perspective, thanks

Does this med help with rumination?

Rumination has been a very persistent symptom for me, no matter what medication I take or techniques I try (yes, Including mindfulness). I havnt been able to stamp it out. Had anyone found this med helped with rumination, more than other antidepressants? I’m currently on vilazadone fwiw

Is this normal behavior, or should I find a new psychiatrist?

I recently had a very horrible, humiliating experience with my psychiatrist of several months. She seemed very annoyed when I told her that I was still depressed and anxious, and would like to either add another medication or switch one of my current ones.

For background, I do have severe treatment-resistant depression and anxiety, along with complex grief and PTSD (these aren’t self-diagnoses, they all come straight from my therapist). I know I am a difficult case to treat. In fact, she made it very clear, and downright said she wished I was an easier patient.

When I mentioned that one of my current meds for anxiety wasn’t working, she told me it was (dismissing my personal experience) and refused to consider changing it. She then mocked me by impersonating me acting anxious if I did come off the med.

She then insinuated that I just loved taking medication, which made me feel like a freak, as no one loves taking medication, I just want to feel better.

She also accused me of not working on myself and basically that it was my fault I’m still depressed, even though I practice mindfulness, eat healthy, go to therapy regular, spend time outdoors, etc. she said she couldn’t fix me and was sighing the whole time.

I know im difficult but when I came home I was crying and felt so humiliated and dehumanized. I’m afraid to switch as I do need to keep access to my current meds, and I’m afraid another psychiatrist would treat me the same way.im thinking of just sticking it out and telling her the meds are working so I can just keep on my current regiment even if I still feel like shit

Don't buy from Sports Research

Hey all, thought I'd share a very disappointing interaction with Sports Research I had. I thought they were a reputable brand, but apparently not.

I recently bought l-theanine from them. I wanted to verify the lot, so I went to their website. Unfortunately, they have "removed" the ability to check for a COA from their website while it undergoes "updates" (yeah, right). So I went the extra step of emailing them directly. This was the exchange I had:

>Hi, I’d like to request a COA for l-theanine Lot #####. Thank you

Customer "support":

>Hello Stephen,

Thank you for reaching out and for your interest in the transparency of our products.
As part of an ongoing redesign and upgrade of our website, the "Track Your Lot" feature is no longer available (COA), if you were previously familiar with that offered option. We understand this may be disappointing and truly appreciate your patience as we work to improve your experience. We’re actively evaluating new ways to enhance our transparency tools and may reintroduce a similar feature in the future as part of these digital improvements. Rest assured, all of our supplements are third party tested for heavy metals in compliance with US regulations, for label claim compliance, as well as for microbial contaminants.
Thank you again for your continued support and for being a valued part of the Sports Research community.

Me:

>Hi, I see it’s no longer available, which is why I reached out. Surely you should have access to it?

Response:

>Hi Stephen,

Surely we do not have access to this. Thank you for reaching out though.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

So we have a response that is:

  1. snarky
  2. unhelpful
  3. most importantly, shows that their third-party tested "guarantee" is a hoax, as they don't have the receipts to prove it

At this point I no longer trust their claims. Needless to say I will not be buying from them again. Sticking with Thorne it is
