how to ask a doctor for zofran

my GERD gives me occasional extremely bad flares of nausea that last days on end and cause a lot of fear and pain for me . the only thing that helps is zofran, but up until now i've just been using some we had left over in the house, with no actual prescription. i need to ask to have it prescribed for the first time, and i'm nervous. i've heard doctors are hesitant about prescribing it, but it's the only thing thats ever helped my flare ups.

any tips on how to not sound like a desperate drug chaser?? i don't know what i'd do without it. i keep dreading having another flare.

(any reccomendations for alternative perscription drugs for extreme nausea are appreciated too. yes, i know the risks of zofran, and i am not at risk. thank you.)

nausea on lexapro

i'll try to keep this short, but i have a bunch of chronic illnesses that make my stomach sensitive and make me nauseous all the time. i also have extremely bad OCD focused around health and specifically emetophobia, which is why i need to start medication.

i already take hailey-fe, which occasionally causes bad nausea, but i just took zofran for that. i obviously can't take zofran on lexapro, so i'm really nervous about the nausea/vomiting side effect.

did anyone experience vomiting on lexapro? is there any way to stop the nausea from getting so bad?

pantoprazole results?

i'm just now waning off 40mg pantoprazole after a short 3 months, and i feel like it didn't do anything but lower my ability to digest food and make me bloated. i feel so, so much better now that i'm off it. gaviscon has been a lifesaver, but that's all that helps me. the pantoprazole has almost felt like a placebo pill or something, it literally didn't do anything. has anyone else had a similar experience??

difference between pills being perscribed

why do doctors treat zofran like some horrifying poison when they freely hand out almost every other medication? i've been warned about the side effects for zofran even though i'm not on any of the affected meds and don't have heart problems, but my doctor didn't even mention side effects when i was perscribed multiple GERD medicines, and they can cause just as many issues. i've been suffering a lot more from pantoprazole then zofran. so why do they treat it so carefully?? this is a genuine question, even though i phrased it like a complaint lol.

awful doctor experience

sorry this is so long, i'm just very upset.

i've been dealing with chronic nausea and stomach issues my whole life, which has just been dismissed as "anxiety", and finally saw a doctor this year. it was awful.

for some reason he kept insisting that nausea couldn't be attached to any chronic illness. he said only pain causes nausea, and i MUST be in some kind of horrible pain to be nauseous all the time. i don't even get nauseous when i am in pain though, and am most definitely not constantly in excruciating pain. he told me to just stop taking any antiemetics, without offering any kind of substitute or help for my symptoms. i've also been told by my main doctor that i'm fine to use antiemetics.

he also kept pulling up completely wrong information on his computer, like that i'm taking 20mg of zofran (i take 4mg a few times a month) and a bunch of other insane statistics of the amount of medication i take. all the doses were off.

i felt like i was being brushed off and treated as stupid the whole time. a lot of the nausea was blamed on my period, despite it being constant. i did have gastritis at the time of my visit and was taking pantoprazole for it, which he barely even mentioned, and then proceeded to give me the completely wrong dose for the pantoprazole.

after a few tests that came out normal, he just discharged me. none of my symptoms were looked into at all. i didn't even get a guess at a diagnosis. just "the tests are normal, nausea isn't a conclusive symptom". and i couldn't get an h-pylori breath test ordered because it's apparently not trustworthy. of course, my main doctor ordered it almost immediately.

all my suspicions about possible things i could have were ignored. all my other symptoms were ignored or brushed off as being part of my period. all i got was a negative celiac test. great.

it was all just a huge waste of money and time. i'm so upset about it, and now i feel completely lost. that was my first time seeking help, and it ruined my perception of doctors in that field.

recovery?

does anyone have tips on recovery? it just keeps getting worse and worse for me. i'm on some medications that make me nauseous, plus i have about a hundred chronic illnesses, including RCPD. i'm so tired of being afraid to throw up. i go to a therapist already, but i'm terrified to even think about the process. i'm just so sick of all this. my fear is also mostly centered around myself vomiting, i'm uncomfortable seeing other people throw up only because it makes me think i'm going to.

tldr; i need some recovery tips, and recommendations on how to make this fear less unbearable.

missed one pill

how long does it usually take for the cramps to stop after missing a birth control pill?

i was at a concert last night, and out until 12, so i didn't get a chance to take it. i've been getting horrible cramps and bleeding ever since. i just took the missed pill, but i'm worried. how long is this going to be?

nighttime nausea?

i'm on hailey-fe, and suddenly in the second month of taking it i've been experiencing horrible, horrible nighttime nausea. my only other symptoms are occasional stomach pain and cramps, but the nausea is driving me crazy. it's so bad i can't sleep until i take a zofran, and it's happened 4 nights in a row. i eat every time i take birth control, and i make sure to eat enough to hopefully prevent nausea.

i don't know why it's so awful. is this normal in the second month? should i switch? it's working extremely well with little side effects otherwise.

tldr, is severe nighttime nausea normal even if you ate while taking the pill? and if not, what do i do?

am i overusing?

i have had extremely severe emetophobia since i could think, as well as OCD. i'm starting to get really worried that i'm abusing antiemetics, even with my chronic nausea.

i try to only take zofran when i really believe that i am going to vomit, but lately i've been having nausea attacks at night due to birth control. i literally can't sleep or move, it's so bad. i usually take zofran twice a month, but it's been like 5 this month. other then that i take nauzene a lot, almost every day. dramamine or bonine maybe twice a month.

i know its a compulsion i shouldn't give into, but i literally can't function when i'm nauseous. i'm especially worried about the zofran. my OCD isnt helping this. i really don't want to develop any concerning symptoms.

zofran dosage?

how much zofran is ok to take per month? i have GERD, rcpd, and possible IBS, and i have occasional awful nighttime nausea attacks that stop me from sleeping or doing anything. zofran is the only thing that helps, but i'm afraid i'll develop a resistance, or bad side effects.

all of my doctors have given me a different answer. some say i shouldn't ever take it, some say a few a month is fine, some say i should take it every time i'm nauseous. i'm lost.

nausea on hailey 24 fe

i literally just took my first pill yesterday at around 7pm, it is now 3am and i have genuinely never been more nauseous in my whole life, though no vomiting. i've used every method i know to stop the nausea, but none of them worked at all. can anyone recommend ways to make me less nauseous while my body adjusts to it?
