Eggcellent Forest Cafe - Edmonton - $7.99

2nd time getting this bag. Most items seem to be from Paris Baguette, which has a few locations in the city. The value of all this at retail 100% exceeds the $24 value the bag is set at, the cookie alone is $4.

When you go to pick up you get to choose between a number of bags and boxes with a mix of items. I chose a bag I could see had some savory options, but there is boxes that seem to have all sweets. Pickup is easy, just make sure you to go the Wyndham, not the Marriott lol.

I recommend everyone snag this when they see it.

Old Beverly Cafe - Edmonton - $5.99

Very pleased with this. One of the sandwiches was smoked salmon, one was cucumber, and there was a 1/4 piece of egg salad. The pancakes were still warm, and the scones are fresh. 2 plain, 2 cranberry. Overall very good value, imo.

Presotea - Edmonton - Bubble Tea - $7.99

3 large bubble teas for the cost of 1 (with extra stuff) isn't bad. One was a slushy type, the other 2 seemed to be standard milk tea. The add ins were the part I struggled with lol, mango chunks in my milk tea isnt something im a huge fan of. But, if you enjoy Boba drinks with more than just plain pearls, then this could be nice for you.

I was sad I didnt snag any bubble waffles. :'(

Best way to go about fixing this?

I've fixed tears and holes before, but this rip seems tricky. I need to somehow stop the fabric from fraying and then attatch it to the blue fabric with the button. the tear extends upwards and is causing the fabric to unravel more and more.

I can hand sew and have a simple sewing machine. I dont mind if the repair is visible.

Retrieval of older (1978) court records, all avenues failed so far

Im hoping this is still acceptable to be posted here, its not traditional legal advice per se but more on courts and record keeping. My hope is someone with some insight has had to do a similar process and can advise me.

I have a research project im doing that involves a landmark (imo) criminal case that originated in Alberta and eventually went to the SCC. The original case was in 1978-1979. It was appealed from the Queen's/Kings bench to AB Court of Appeals, then finally to the SCC.

I have a lot of information about the case, and I also have everything I could possibly have as a member of the public from the appeals court and SCC. Unfortunately, the original case was 3 co defendants, but only 1 appealed the verdict, so Im missing most information pertaining to the other 2 defendants.

I have been working with the KB for the last 2 months trying to get the records, but they are unable to find it even with me providing a lot of information. It was suggested to me that this means the records I need were either not digitized, or have been lost/destroyed.

The KB finally told me to reach out to the COJ after they couldnt find anything, but they just told me they couldn't help. Appeals court already sent everything they have to the provincial archives (which I have obtained). The Archives only have QB/KB files up to 1976, and they dont know when more will be sent over.

The records are not on Canlii either. I do live in the city where this case occurred (Edmonton) but its hard for me to get any time off work to go to the courts, especially for a personal project like this. I will go though, if it seems like the only option.

I feel like ive exhausted all avenues I can think of. I feel like there must be someone I can escalate this to who has knowledge about these historical cases, but every email or phone number I try either never contacts me back, or can't help.

Im hoping someone here has some advice on what I can try next. I know that there must be something.

Thanks.

Fuel in vapor canister but replacement backordered

2019 Kia Soul. About 65k on it. Canada.

I have a situation. A person who has been putting gas in the vehicle (friend who my partner has been driving around, not me a s2g) was topping up the vehicle after the pump clicked off. After a few weeks of this I noticed I couldnt fill the vehicle, it would click off after a few seconds.

I take the car in to dealership (warranty very recently expired which i didnt realize lol) and they said they found fuel in the filter and vapor canister. they replaced the filter, but said the canister was backordered with no ETA. Got the vehicle back, and while I can fuel for a little longer, its still clicking off after around 15 seconds.

I go to a Canada OEM parts online store and try to order the canister but likewise they tell me its not in stock. seems no OEM new canisters exist anywhere in my country.

The way I see it, I have 4 options, I just dont know the ramifications of each.

  1. Drive vehicle until the part becomes available in the future, could be months

  2. Try and buy the part from a USA site (if its available in the states even) but im having trouble finding one that ships to Canada and might need to use package forwarding

  3. Buy aftermarket part (im hesitant)

  4. Buy used from car with low mileage (also hesitant)

I can't just stop driving unfortunately, but I can drive less now that its summer and not cold.

Im just struggling to balance factors like cost, time waiting (can my vehicle get damaged if I drive with saturated canister?), reliability of aftermarket/used parts and could use some advise on what to do. Mostly on if my car will be damaged if I drive with current canister.

Thanks yall
