I’ve been building an AI-powered checkout system for smart glasses, and here I am testing it in an actual store.

The idea is simple: as you pick up products, the glasses recognize what you’re holding and automatically add them to a virtual cart. No barcode scanning, no traditional checkout flow, no ceiling-mounted cameras, shelf sensors, or complex store-wide sensor fusion.

The goal is simple: make checkout fast and seamless using the customer’s smart glasses, without requiring retailers to retrofit their stores with expensive infrastructure.

This demo shows an early prototype of my automated retail checkout app running on Mentra smart glasses.

The system processes the glasses’ live camera feed to recognize products as they’re picked up and automatically builds a virtual cart in real time. The goal is to make checkout a natural by-product of shopping without requiring customers to scan barcodes, use a phone, or stop at a traditional checkout.

I’m developing software that enables autonomous checkout through smart glasses. The goal is to bring zero-infrastructure, low-friction checkout solution to ordinary stores by making checkout a by-product of the customer’s natural shopping motion.

This is a very early prototype that recognizes products from a live smart-glasses stream.
