Can anybody confirm or deny if the £7 slice of cake from Tesco is worth it?

[Wales] Evri delivery driver dumped parcel, now being summoned to interview under caution under the Environmental Protection Act.

EDIT: not a police interview, council interview under PACE.

Asking on behalf of mother.

At the end of May, we were waiting for a Next delivery through Evri. As it was both a birthday present and holiday clothes, we were quite anxious it was to be delivered on time, so when the first attempt at delivery failed, the following day we waited by the front door tracking the driver. Again, no delivery, and as we were stood at the front door we got the notification that delivery was attempted and failed, no sign of any car pulling up or anyone going anywhere near our drive. Cue the start of an email thread with Evri and Next regarding this. The following day, exact same situation, waiting by the door, no one shows up, delivery attempted and failed with no sign of anyone. Evri and Next were being kept up to date over email about this and another order was arranged which we swiftly cancelled in order to just place a separate order to collect from the Next store in person.

At this point we get the email that it's been three failed attempts so it's being returned to Next.

The following day, the driver arrives with the Next package, along with a separate Amazon package for another member of the household. Annoyingly, my Dad answers the door, is swiftly handled the Next package and photographed receiving it, before my Mum can rush to the front door to demand that the driver take the Next parcel back, refusing delivery of it, citing that it should already have been on its way back to Next and we had already replaced the order and that having to return this delivery would be more hassle for us that we don't need (she was going on holiday the following day).

The driver tries to claim that isn't allowed, and after a heated confrontation where he got rather threatening he takes the parcel explicitly saying that "he's just going to bin it". Me, my Mum and my Dad were all witnesses to this. A few hours after that, we get an email saying the delivery was successful, with the photo of my dad holding the parcel. Next and Evri were both made aware of this in the email trail.

Fast-forward to this week (mail only checked today) my Mum has received a letter calling her for a police interview under caution under the Environmental Protection Act because the Next parcel has been found dumped on the other side of the city with her name and address on it.

My Mum works in a regulated industry, so she is naturally incredibly stressed by this development as she will have to inform both her employer and regulatory body about any police investigations into her.

We have the paper trail of correspondence to both Evri and Next which we are forwarding on to the police as part of the form she has had to fill out, but I'm just wondering if there is any other action she should be taking? She's not helping herself by further stressing herself reading articles about people falsely convicted in similar cases and losing everything.

Thank you in advance.

What’s been your worst bloody disaster?

Merker Futur and Feather blade have been providing an amazing shave but I clearly got too arrogant as when I went to adjust the razor my thumb slipped along the blade and has sliced right open and it looks like a dead animal in here.

Then once I had plastered up I rushed my shave and made a pass when I shouldn’t have and nicked my neck, so even more blood!

What’s been your worst?

Shoutout to the postman parked on the double yellows as I was trying to turn right into the road 🫡🫡🫡

Just extremely frustrating to fail because I’m not used to having to turn sharper because someone’s taken the space on the corner using the double yellows. Double shoutout to the big white truck oncoming who didn’t fancy slowing down as I was trying to straighten up after the turn.

Driving was literally for turning back into the test centre at the end lol.

Examiner ended it by acknowledging it was a difficult situation and said there wasn’t actually any area of my driving that I need to improve on.

Double extremely annoying is now the wait for a resit is twice as long as I’ve been learning start to first test.

Oh well, live and learn and come back stronger December or whenever I actually get one and ££££ on lessons later.

These sweets are not vegan/vegetarian

Just had a very narrow miss when I read over the ingredients, especially given Chewits are usually vegetarian.

The “Plant Pack” labelling comes across as intentionally misleading.

Update on plans for the future of Doctor Who

Presumably if it’s going out for competitive tender then BBC Wales or Bad Wolf aren’t interested, a shame to likely be losing something that has become such a big part of the identity of modern Cardiff.

(UK) Exact same latency spikes every 8 hours daily

Hi, ask you can see above, for whatever reason my home broadband seems to be stuck in a pattern of latency spiking every 8 hours on the dot.

This spike is noticeable for a couple of minutes when it happens.

I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do or if it’s just part of my ISP’s (Vodafone) process, but it’s annoying. Have tried unplugging.

Thanks

The Great Cardiff Hail of 2026

What on earth was that about???

For about 5 minutes I’ve never seen anything like it.

My street, garden and drive currently look like a snow day!

What’s up with road rage?

Why do people get so angry on the roads lol

Just finished a driving lesson, so to finish I pulled up outside my house. Did it all properly: indicated, left the correct room from the curb etc.

As I stopped, the car that was behind me pulls up alongside me, window down and starts hurling unintelligible abuse at me.

My instructor insists I did nothing wrong but I can’t understand why someone would get so angry? You’re allowed to pull over on a road; no less outside your own house, so I don’t get what the problem is?

Is anyone else getting fed up of spending a fair amount of time writing fairly long answers for questions such as scenarios, past experiences etc at the same stage that you’re submitting your CV.

I wouldn’t mind answering such questions if I know that a human has read over my CV and thinks it’s sufficient, but it’s a bit insulting to take the time to answer those questions when someone might just dismiss my CV first and not even read them.

Just a vent sorry.
