Ather Rizta won’t start because BOTH brake switches failed — and RSA was basically useless
I’m honestly just frustrated right now and needed to rant / see if anyone else has faced this with their Rizta.
I have an Ather Rizta, and today I had to quickly run an errand. I went to start the scooter and… nothing.
I tried the usual stuff, including rebooting, but obviously that wasn’t getting me anywhere because the scooter wasn’t even responding properly.
I eventually contacted a mechanic I know who works with Ather, and after speaking to him I found out that the issue appears to be the brake switches. The ridiculous part is that both the front and rear brake switches have apparently stopped working.
So basically, the scooter thinks the brakes aren’t being engaged and won’t start.
I then contacted Ather Roadside Assistance, and honestly, that experience was incredibly frustrating. I explained that I had already tried rebooting the scooter, but I was still told to reboot it. Then I was told to put it on charge.
At that point I thought, okay, I’ll just get Roadside Assistance.
I’m a student, so obviously I’m trying to save money wherever I can. I found the cheaper Ather RSA option and purchased it specifically because I needed assistance right now.
Only AFTER purchasing it did I find out that there is apparently a 15-day waiting/cooldown period before I can actually use it.
What the actual fuck?
If there’s a 15-day waiting period, why isn’t that made extremely clear before purchasing the service? I wouldn’t have bought it if I knew I couldn’t use it for the exact situation I was buying it for.
I’m now stuck with a scooter that won’t start because both brake switches apparently failed, RSA can’t help me because of a cooldown period, and the official support experience hasn’t exactly helped either.
Maybe I’m missing something here, but this whole experience has been incredibly frustrating.
Has anyone else with a Rizta had both brake switches fail? And is there any way to get this resolved quickly without having to pay out of pocket for something that should arguably be covered by Ather?
Because right now, I’m honestly just thinking: fuck Ather service.
