Any way to turn off Athlete Intelligence?

I hate knowing that AI computing and data storage is being wasted on providing me “insights” that add zero value.

When I look at my heart rate zones I can SEE which zones I was in, I don’t need the bot to just reiterate that. The regular math already tells me my average and peak HR. I can see that I “started at x pace and settled into y pace” - none of this is useful even a little bit.

Absolute waste of resources.
Also it’s just annoying, I don’t want it, it takes space, it’s not useful.

Keep missing my distance goals during hm training, what to do?

I’m 7 weeks into training/ 10 weeks away from race day and finding I can’t quite hit my distance goals from my training plan - ie if I’m scheduled for 12, I juuuuust manage 10.
I manage to hit the distance maybe once a week and then can’t quite make it on the other days. It’s a combination of muscle exhaustion and nervous system fatigue.

At this point I don’t know what to adjust with my training to make sure I’ll be ready for the half marathon and won’t bonk a few kms shy of the finish line. I also don’t know if I should be attempting to pick up the missed kms in some way (adding them to the next run, adding an additional run with the missed kms?)

I can’t see a pattern to what’s causing me to miss or make the distance - it’s never the same day of the week or after a certain eating pattern etc.

I’m getting about the same amount of sleep every night as I have my whole life- 7-9 hours depending on day.

Eating has been variable as I’ve been trying to see if this was caused by food, but as I mentioned no rhyme or reason. One night I’ll have a big carby dinner and do well the next day, but then I’ll have the exact same meal two days later and bonk by 4K. I take a gel around 5k into runs that are in the 10-15 distance. I start most runs with a pop tart or a gel and a coffee. I drink lots of water on the run and refill so I’m drinking about 100mls per km.

I do a walk/run so I’m running sections 60-120 seconds around 7:00 or 7:30/km and then walking for about 60 seconds.

Should I roll back my training plan so the distance I’m capable of is how much is expected of me? Is there a glaring obvious change to my food/hydration that’ll fix this? Something else?

ETA: thanks for all the responses everyone, way more responses than I expected and a little overwhelming. A few general things before I start responding to individuals:

- I am not JUST fueling with a pop tart or one carby meal, I just didn’t detail my full meal plan here. I have a powerlifting background so I’m comfortable with fueling for sport - if anything I’m eating too much considering how much weight I’ve gained. Approx 60/20/20 macros, maybe 2500-3000 cal per day, more on longer run days. I am completely sedentary when not running. I always fuel post run.

- I have been running on and off since Jan 2024. I’ve been largely consistent since January 2026. My best times were when I started running, and I’ve been gradually getting worse at running every year with more training. Go figure.

- I’m currently scheduled to run about 50km/week across 5 runs, and achieve about 20-30.

- I’m following the beginner version of the Canada running series plan, but I’m running every run as an easy run because I’m struggling too much to do speed work right now.

- just checked my Strava and my average speed per run including walking is anywhere from 8:30 - 10:30 min/km, I’m no speed demon. Faster speeds are runs where I don’t bonk, ironically.

- I leave the house with my bottles(500ml) with half a liquid IV dissolved in it. Subsequent waters are plain water from public fountains. I’m not a heavy sweat-er.

Support after EI runs out

Hello! I was wondering what resources are next in line after EI allotment runs out.

I’m still actively searching for work but am having very little luck gaining employment in my field. I’m unsure when exactly my EI will run out but I’m sure it’s soon. I don’t believe I would qualify for ODSP, and I’m otherwise fit for employment.

Are there support programs or community resources for post-EI support?

Rocket pop flavouring everywhere - why?

Did the flavour house that owned the og rocket pop flavour lose their patent or something? Or release a new cheap version of it?

Just wondering why in the last 6 months the I’ve seen every possible product release a popsicle flavour version.

Frustrated by the air quality because you can’t run?

Then might I suggest redirecting those feelings towards helping?

One way is by providing a donation to a cause that is supporting both immediate relief and future fire prevention, such as the Canadian Red Cross. Or towards any of the communities directly affected, requiring disaster relief. I found this list for a good spread of groups helping: 7 organizations needing immediate help

Another way is writing to politicians to let them know we want better ecological protections (emission standards, water usage, etc) to prevent fires like this happening in the future.

I’m not affiliated in any way other than being a Canadian in the province the fires are happening in.

Just a quick edit to add this is regional agnostic - lots of Americans have posted about the poor air quality, because that’s how air pollution and smoke travel works - there are places to donate and politicians to write in all countries, and provinces/states within them. I just provided perspective tied to my area because that’s what I know.

How often do you register for short races?

My area has lots of races throughout the year, many 1/5/8k distances. You can usually find at least one of these every month or so. There’s one company that hosts many of them and specializes in offering themed medals along with event shirts as the finisher prizes. The registration is typically around $60-$80.

Does your area offer these kinds of races? Do you sign up for them? How often?

On one hand I am very externally motivated, so running for a shiny against other people has some appeal, but it also seems silly to pay $75 for a medal that has no function and a race shirt I might not even like, so I’m often on the fence with signing up.

I’m curious how other people decide what races to sign up for and how often they do this.

DIY Gels and Electrolytes for long runs and first HM, can someone check my math on doses and fuel plan schedule?

Hey folks, training for my first half marathon and my boyfriend is working on his 3rd marathon, and we're coming close to needing to take out a line of credit to keep paying for gels and electrolyte powders.

I've done some reading and research (NO AI thank you very much) and have come up with a couple of recipes for diy supplements but wanted some eyes on it before I go ahead with them and potentially make myself sick or have a heart attack.

This is based on a low/average-sweat runner, 155 lbs, running in the summer/into fall.
I anticipate running the half in about 3 hours, so fairly slow pace.

The gels were designed witha 2:1 glucose:fructose ratio, and include electrolytes portioned for hourly replenishment needs.

Base Gel, taken every 30 min:

maltodextrin powder |10 g
fructose powder |5 g
sea salt |.5 g
lo salt |.25 g
magnesium malate |1/2 caplet

This should yield the following nutrients:

carbs |15 g
sodium |223 mg
potassium |88 mg
magnesium |39 mg

Super Gel (higher carb):

maltodextrin powder |30 g
fructose powder |15 g
sea salt |.5 g
lo salt |.25 g
magnesium malate |1/2 caplet

Nutrients:

carbs |45 g
sodium |223 mg
potassium |88 mg
magnesium |39 mg

Caffeine Gel:

maltodextrin powder |10 g
fructose powder |5 g
sea salt |.5 g
lo salt |.25 g
magnesium malate |1/2 caplet
matcha powder |1 g

Nutrients:

carbs |15 g
sodium |223 mg
potassium |115 mg
magnesium |79 mg
caffeine |15 mg

My personal fueling plan is as follows:

Pre Race - Unsure yet, but some kind of carb + caffeine. Race is 8am and I don't want to wake up at 4 to fuel, so it will need to be something fairly simple about 1-2 hour pre race.
00:00 / Start - Base Gel? Depending on Pre Race plan.
35:00 / 4 km - Base Gel
1:00:00 / 7 km - Caffeine Gel
1:25:00 / 10 km - Base Gel
1:40:00 / 13 km - Super Gel
2:10:00 / 16 km - Super Gel
2:40:00 / 19 km - Base Gel (optional)
Post Race - Recovery drink (80g carbs, 550 ml water), unsure of format.

The fuel plan is based on carbing up every 3k (about 25ish minutes apart) for ease of remembering. It also assumes I'll be drinking about 100ml water per km, including with each gel.

I haven't calculated additional carbs or nutrients for flavouring, but I'll likely keep that minimal to reduce complexity - likely citric acid for the Base and Super gel, maybe vanilla powder for the Caffeine gel. I might explore freeze fried fruit powders if these taste like absolute shit. I'm not 100% sure about texturing either, but will likely go with Xanthan and/or Gellan, as that's what sin Gu and SIS, which we currently use.

In the fuel plan, the Caffeine gel is timed to give a boost about an hour later, for the final 4k stretch. The Super gels are to boost tapering glycogen stores mid-late race, again timed to kick in for the final stretch, and the final Base gel is just to scoot through the finish line in case I need the push.

Thoughts? Any glaring errors or problems I'll run into with either these recipes or fueling plan?

Thanks for any help at all with this.

Account mixups - wrong email and can’t figure out how to reset

I downloaded the app on my phone and signed up for an account but accidentally mistyped my email. It didn’t ask for a password. I then went to sign in via the website via the app, which I did with the right email. It’s since sent me a “set your password” email to the correct address but I haven’t done this yet.

I can’t delete the misspelled account because when I click “delete your account” in-app it auto signs me in to the correct account in the webapp website, and logging out there doesn’t work.

I’d like
- the app to transfer run data to my correct email address
- to ensure I have a password protected account with the correct email
- delete the incorrect account to reduce further login errors
Or, worst case scenario, wipe both accounts and start fresh with the right email address.

Any advice? Thanks.

Where to buy Morinaga Choice and Moonlight cookies?

Popular in Japan, but not carried at Nations.
Wondering if anyone has seen these at a grocery store that isn’t an “Asian” grocery store but maybe has a robust international aisle?

First time in town for a long time, where’s the best food, drink, and weird stuff?

Hello! Coming from the GTA, I'm really interested in good food and cocktails, weird stuff to see (think "Atlas Obscura" type folk art or outre history), and other notable stops. I'll have a car and about three days, in June. I haven't been to Ottawa in probably 15+ years.

I'd love for some suggestions for "best in town" as well as hidden gems. No idea really where to go for breakfast, lunch, or coffee, only have one fancy dinner spot picked, and no notable weird things.

So far from friend recommendations I've got:

FOOD
- Arlo

DRINKS
- Rabbit Hole
- Moonroom
- Poa

COFFEE
- Little Victories

STOPS
- Nordik
- World of Maps
- Antique Market
- House of Targ

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Does anybody have herbs in their garden to spare?

I don’t have a garden of my own but love to cook with garden and forage ingredients.

I’m wondering if anyone has any of the following growing in their yard and would be happy to share enough for a few recipes worth:
- lemon verbena or lemon balm
- lilacs
- sweetgrass or sweet woodruff
- serviceberry / Saskatchewan berry (when they’re ready of course)

Happy to trade back some of whatever I cook with it :)

Hey folks, looking for some eyes on this one please.

Currently the bar does no regular inventory tracking, does no meaningful waste/loss management beyond discounts in the POS, and orders are placed by the bartender sending a slack message once a week based on their folk knowledge of what's usually needed.

As you can guess, there's no real management for margins or insight into where loss is happening, so margins are getting melted away. Bar sales have gone down, up to 50% from baseline per week, but the bartender is still asking to order about the same amount of bottles. Not sure what's going on. We've got TB and Peachtree but they don't feel user friendly and this sheet system makes a lot more sense to my brain.

I've toyed with a few inventory sheets approaches and am looking for feedback on V1 please!

Sheet 1 is a Bar Data reference sheet, with the "immovable" numbers. Here's an example row:

Product Type Name Vendor Cost per bottle Inventory Value Par Inventory Count Bottle Size (L) Cost per oz
i.e. Vodka i.e. Grey Goose (Inventory Count * Cost per Bottle) (Automated from sheet 2) (Price / Bottle Size * 33.814)

This sheet also has a total inventory value sum at the bottom.

Then Sheet 2 is an Inventory Count sheet for the bartender/bar manager to use:

Product Type Name Vendor Par In Stock Suggested Order
(Automated from sheet 1) (Automated) (Automated) (Automated) (Par - In Stock, rounded up)
  1. Bar manager needs to spend a day doing the initial inventory data entry into Sheet 1 "Bar Data".
  2. Once a week someone is responsible for doing an end of week inventory count into sheet 2 "Inventory Count". This can be printed out for record keeping.
  3. The bar manager reviews and approves this sheet and passes it along to place orders from.

I've also made a different sheet system where the inventory and suggested order are on the same sheet as Bar Data, and there's just a filtered at-a-glance Order Sheet of what needs ordering, but that exposes things like inventory cost to the bartender and is harder to protect from errors, but I like that it ties the inventory value to data on the same sheet to reduce potential errors.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Next steps? This system doesn't really speak to the loss aspect yet but I figure inventory management is the baseline root that needs to be established to even begin anything further. I'm also not sure how to track the MoM changes to actually find root cause issues.
