Built 150+ tools

Hi, my name is Javier and I "program" by describing what I want in plain Spanish/English and hoping Claude understands me. It compiles, therefore I am a developer. That's the whole résumé.

Started this because my brother needed something visual to study chemistry and physics. One tool became a hundred and fifty. I have never written a line of code that wasn't first written by an AI and then broken by me trying to "just tweak one small thing."

It's apexapro.com. Free tools, no sign-up, and yes, some of them still have bugs I found out about via Reddit comments, which is a special kind of pain.

If anyone here also vibes their way through a codebase they don't fully understand, would love feedback (or solidarity).

ApexaPro — 150+ free interactive tools, no sign-up

What it is: a growing collection of free, interactive calculators and tools covering everyday stuff (unit/currency-adjacent conversions, finance, health), science (physics simulators, chemistry, astronomy calculators), and a kids/learning section. Everything runs client-side in the browser, no account needed.

Who it's for: anyone who wants a quick answer without digging through ad-heavy sites or creating an account just to convert a number. Also useful if you're a student, since a chunk of the science tools include visual simulators, not just plain calculators.

Why it stands out: built solo by a non-programmer using AI, so the whole thing grew organically based on real needs rather than a pre-planned product roadmap. That means depth varies across tools (still actively working through that), but it also means new tools get added fast when there's a clear use case.

Made a free tool site to help my brother study. 100+ tools now, looking for honest feedback

My brother's in high school and needed something more visual to study chemistry, physics, and math. I used Claude to build him a simple site with interactive calculators and visualizers. I'm not a programmer or from a tech background, so without AI this probably wouldn't have happened, at least not this fast.

It ended up helping him a lot more than I expected, so I kept expanding it. Added a bunch of other free calculators and tools along the way (finance, science, everyday stuff). Now trying to figure out if it's worth growing into something bigger, or if I'm overextending it, so genuinely looking for feedback here, not just upvotes.

Everything's free, no sign up, runs in the browser. What's useful, what's broken, what would you cut or add?

[East Harlem] Anyone else hearing a constant 24/7 mechanical squealing noise around E 119th / 120th St? Near to 1st Av

Hey everyone,

I recently moved to East Harlem (around the E 119th / E 120th St area) and there is a constant, incredibly loud, high-pitched mechanical squealing/chirping noise coming from outside. It sounds exactly like a failing exhaust fan bearing or heavy industrial ventilation equipment from a nearby roof or alleyway.

It runs 24/7, day and night. It’s penetrating the apartments in the area and it's so loud I literally have to wear noise-canceling headphones just to get some sleep.

I’ve already filed a 311 noise complaint so the DEP can send an inspector with a decibel meter, but I wanted to ask:

  1. Is anyone else in the neighborhood hearing this right now?
  2. Does anyone know exactly which building or business this failing equipment belongs to?
  3. Has anyone dealt with something similar in this specific area before?

I have videos of the sound if anyone needs to hear it to help identify the source. Any advice on how to get the city or the responsible landlords to fix this faster would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Lease expired, old management ghosted, new management took over. Never signed a new lease. Can I move out July 1st without an automatic renewal penalty?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice regarding my apartment situation.

My original 1-year lease ended in April. Back in March, I reached out to the old management to renew, but they completely ignored me. Then, in April, the building switched to a new management company without any prior notice.

It took a while for their new payment portal to get set up, but I am now 100% caught up on all rent payments. However, I have not signed a new lease. I told the new management that we never finalized a renewal with the previous administration.

I am planning to move out to a new apartment on July 1st. My main fears are:

  1. Is there any NY state law or "automatic renewal" clause that could legally bind me to another 1-year lease?
  2. Since I am assuming I am currently a month-to-month tenant, what are the actual consequences of giving less than 30 days' notice to move out by July 1st?

Any advice on how to handle the new management or what my rights are would be greatly appreciated!

How much of your net monthly income do you pay in rent?

Im planning to move to another area in NY because my daughter will start High school next September in East side.

Im looking for a 2 or 3 BR but its hard to pay no less than 50% of your net income just for rent... I dont know how all of you are doing with this economy

I dont wanna pay 50% in rent but probably this is the avg, is it?
