was given this today as a gift, not sure what variety it is. if anybody knows please lmk!!
yesterday this new leaf was totally healthy and happy, today it looks like this. soil is still moist moist so it’s definitely not under watered, and i checked the roots for rot and think it looks good? i don’t have the most experienced eye for this stuff tho. i also thoroughly inspected the entire plant for bugs and it’s completely pest free. thinking maybe some sort of fungal infection or maybe i overfertilized it? and help would be super appreciated
this new leaf was totally healthy yesterday and now looks like this. i thoroughly inspected the entire plant and it’s completely pest free. thinking maybe some sort of fungal infection? it’s definitely not under watered, the soil is still moist from being watered a couple days ago(gets watered about once a week or whenever the top layer of soil dries out). doubt it’s sun damage either as my NE facing balcony barely gets any direct sunlight. feeling kinda lost rn, any advice would be super appreciated
replanted my colocasia today and separated this little plant from the big one with intentions of gifting it to my mom, big plant seems fine but this little guy instantly started drooping all his leaves and now looks like he’s dying/severely underwatered. just yesterday it looked perfectly healthy and happy, even before repotting i thought it looked fine. he had a good little root system going on but maybe i messed up when separating them and didn’t get the corm/bulb with it or something? still kind of new to all this stuff and trying to learn as i go, any advice would be super appreciated. sorry for the bad pic all i had was a video i sent to a friend, tried to take the best screenshot off it that i could.
only $25! was actually very impressed with their plant selection. they had a variety of colocasias, calatheas, monsteras, begonias etc. had a nice thai con in my cart til i saw this guy
Picked up this beautiful alocasia bisma platinum i found on FB marketplace today, it’s rooted in a sphagnum/leca mixture at the moment in a clear plastic pot with no drainage. i’ve never used leca or sphagnum, and have no experience with semi-hydro setups. didn’t get a good pic on my own yet, so just using the pic from the listing, but it has a solid root structure and you can also tell that there’s some significant algae growth in the pot which i’m not sure is a good thing. wondering if i should keep it in its current setup, or if i should repot in a soil mix. if i repot in soil, is there any precautions i should take as not to shock the plant? i have a good soil blend i use on all my monstera/alocasia/colocasia so i have that covered, but any advice in either direction would be super appreciated. thanks!
i miss the metallic looking soft sprinkles, these patriotic ones are rock hard and hurt my teeth to eat. hoping they go back to the old ones and things just a temporary fourth of july thing
