If there was a well-organized blind date event in the city, would you actually show up? me and my friends wanna arrange something like this

not talking about the cringe speed dating stuff you see in movies. more like a comfortable event where people around the same age can meet, talk, play a few icebreaker games and maybe leave with someone's number if there's a vibe.

I keep hearing people say it's impossible to meet new people in Varanasi unless it's through college, work or mutual friends so I'm curious whether there's actually demand for something like this.

Thinking of hosting a small blind date/social mixer at a cafe in Varanasi.

The idea: 5–10 matched couples, fun games, icebreakers, good vibes, and a chance to meet someone new without the awkward dating-app energy.

Registration fee would only cover the event. Food/drinks would be up to you so everyone can order what they like.

I grinded insanely hard for JEE and somehow made it into a good IIT for Mechanical. But the moment college started and I got full freedom with no supervision, I lowkey lost the plot and got way too comfortable enjoying life.

A lot of seniors kept saying first year acads are chill and clubs/networking matter more for “overall development”, so I blindly trusted that and didn’t take studies seriously enough. End result: 5.68 SPI in first sem, 6.85 in second sem, and my CPI rn is around 5.69. Haven’t even told my parents yet.

Ngl I’ve been feeling super demotivated lately. Even during vacations, I can’t focus properly on skills or coding or anything because thoughts about internships, placements, and my CPI are constantly in the back of my mind. Feels like I messed up big time and now I’m scared I’ll stay unplaced if I don’t fix things soon.

I genuinely want to turn things around though. My goal is to somehow push my CPI to 8+ by the end of BTech and get a decent intern + placement. I’m ready to lock in and do whatever it takes, but rn it just feels like I wasted my entire first year.

If anyone else has been in a similar situation and managed to recover academically, please share your story. I could really use some advice rn.

Applied for grade change since I was expecting a better grade. Couldn’t check my endsem marks earlier as I was back home.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for the final grade to get updated after a grade change application? Also, has anyone ever gotten a grade change without seeing their marks first? And is there any chance they can lower your grade too if the paper goes through review?

I got below 7 CPI after first year and honestly, it’s been bothering me a lot. I know I messed up academically this year, but now I keep thinking about whether I’ve already ruined my chances for internships and placements.

What’s making it worse is that I can’t even focus properly this summer. I’ll try to study or learn something useful and then suddenly start thinking about my CPI again and lose motivation completely.

Would really like to hear from seniors who were in a similar situation and managed to recover from it. Did things get better later on? How much did first year CPI actually matter in the long run?

Right now, it just feels like I’ve fallen too behind and I think hearing real experiences would help a lot.

quick doubt if you get a back, how does it show in the final marksheet? like does it mention backlog/attempt or just updated grade after you clear it? also is “Y grade” shown in the final degree/grade sheet or nah?

also fr, does this mess up placements/interns or is it overhyped? do companies actually care about past backs?
