I'm curious to know what kind of side business, freelance services or completely different trades Graphic or UI UX designers are involved in apart from their main design jobs.

I'd love to hear real examples, especially from experienced designers who built additional income streams alongside their design career.

I’ve been working in UI design for many years, but I still see companies using the titles “Product Designer” and “UI/UX Designer” interchangeably. From an industry perspective, what actually separates these two roles in terms of responsibilities, thinking process, and business involvement?

Would love to hear how designers, recruiters, or product teams define the difference in real-world projects.

How have you experienced UX in your everyday life?

My friend worked as a UI Designer for around 16 years but unfortunately lost his job last year and hasn’t received any offers since then despite applying continuously.

He is very good at English typing, documentation work, and computers, and is now thinking about opening a small English Typing / Documentation shop.

We would really appreciate suggestions from people who have experience in this field:

Is this business still profitable in 2026?

What services should he offer besides typing?

What kind of investment is required?

Any good shop name ideas?

Any advice for attracting customers initially?

Should he also continue freelancing in design side-by-side?
