[Nehm & Amick] League sources say there is a great deal of interest around the league in Herro, and the Bucks will consider the prospect of sending him elsewhere.
The Bucks will receive Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, three first-round picks (No. 13 in 2026, 2031, 2033), a 2030 first-round pick swap and a 2033 second-round pick, while also sending Bobby Portis to Miami. ESPN was first to report the deal, though it remains to be seen if the deal expands in the coming weeks, as it can’t be finalized until July 6 and could evolve. More specifically, league sources say there is a great deal of interest around the league in Herro, and the Bucks will consider the prospect of sending him elsewhere. The Bucks, per a team source, are also considering keeping Herro (he has one season left on his deal at $33 million).
[Iko] There’s an increasing sense that, not only is Jaylen Brown open to leaving Boston and playing in Milwaukee, but a resolution within the next 48 hours is preferred.
Given that the Celtics' offer is contingent on Jaylen Brown's inclusion — despite a denial that has amused rival executives — there's an increasing sense that not only is Brown comfortable with the idea of leaving Boston and being traded to Milwaukee, but is hoping to find a resolution over the next 48 hours, league sources said.
And, for much of how these last months have gone within Milwaukee's front office, the buck (no pun intended) stops with them. Do the Bucks prefer the Heat's package, with the likes of Tyler Herro, young talent and draft capital, or the Celtics' package, which would land them an All-NBA two-way superstar in his prime? The clock is ticking.
i paused at this trade idea: 21, ron and caris for tyler herro. would you do it?
not my idea. i'm not even sure what i think of this yet, which makes me think it may be fair. i'd hate to lose ron as he will be a beast under spo, as i'm still very high on ron. i think in 3 years he will be strong, with a reliable shot and ability to attack close outs. but i could also be wrong. and herro fits the second scorer archetype pretty perfectly.
26 years old, listed at 6'5, can't really play defense, but the heat almost always still had good team defense with him out there. jb can likely compensate for what he gives up on that end as well.
career 38% 3pt% on high volume. is a serious playmaker, initiator, iso bucket getter. thrives off ball and can be a movement shooter for cade. his advanced analytics (e.g., WS/48) spiked these last two years as he's entered his prime. he always smokes us. is clutch as hell (at least vs us)
33 million for one more year. he would probably want an extension. i dont think he would be that much more expensive given how much his archetype (score first guard) has become devalued in the last few years. making it somewhat comfortable to pay duren and ausar
he has a bit of an injury history. game totals throughout his career are: 55, 54, 66, 67, 42, 77, 33. i dont know much about the details but looking at the injury history there is a good amount of foot and knee stuff listed (i'm not sure if its same knee/foot or completely unrelated incidents). he was an all-star in that 77 game season.
what would you do? i'm genuinely curious as this is one of the first i've seen where i didn't have an obvious answer right away.
EDIT: you all are probably right that the deal as mentioned favors the pistons too much. it is mostly the structure of the deal that is intriguing me. 1-2 more firsts and any number of seconds is probably where the negotiating happens, with the version i put in the post being the best possible outcome for the pistons with this structure.
JB was scapegoated in Cleveland and now has his opportunity to truly stick it to his former team.
Say what you will about him, but he fires this team up. You know they are gonna want to win this for him. They did it for Dwayne Casey every game vs the Raptors a few years ago. They are gonna do it for JB too.
GO PISTONS
