I really like what You Are Exceptional does to the game but the mod page says it's only supported on the old gen version of the game. For the sake of other mods on my list (and my own sanity) I'd rather not downgrade, but I'd still like to have a good perk overhaul, so is there anything that works similarly to YAE with the current game update?

I love Mega Froslass but last format I really struggled to find good partners for it. The new regulation has shaken things up a little bit but I still feel kinda stumped in the team builder. What pairs well with it?

I want to try and build a team around Dragon Dance/Double-Edge Mega Altaria because I've found that it can actually do very solid damage while outrunning base Aerodactyl after a boost, but I'm struggling to figure out what I should pair it with. Incineroar and Sinistcha seemed promising at first but with both of them it's difficult to cover every meta threat to Altaria that I want to. What would make good partners for Mega Altaria?

I’m trying to build a hard trick room team around Mega Ampharos, and I’ve got decent success with it so far. My main issue currently is my Farigiraf. It sets trick room just fine, but after that point it kinda just feels like dead weight. It doesn’t do a whole lot of damage and I’m afraid to switch it out for something more offensive since it usually gets doubled into from turn 1, which makes it easy for the opponent to stall out my trick room turns. I was considering dropping it for something with more power, but then I run the issue of my setter getting hit with fake out since my usual lead alongside Farigiraf is Kangaskhan, who will pretty much always fail to outspeed enemy Fake Out users. I’m not sure if this is just a skill issue on my part or if I should switch something up. Here’s my team (sorry for text wall instead of photos, don’t have access to my switch atm)

Ampharos w/ Ampharosite

32 HP / 32 SpA / 32 SpD

Centerpiece of the team. 2 moves for STAB and Power Gem for better matchups into sun and snow teams. Stats maximize bulk and damage output

Kangaskhan w/ Silk Scarf

32 HP / 22 Atk / 12 Def

Scrappy Ability

- Fake Out

- Double Edge

- Drain Punch

- Sucker Punch

Kang helps absolutely guarantee Trick Room goes up first with Fake Out. Double Edge is good STAB damage, with both boosted by Silk Scarf. Drain Punch helps into Kingambit, Tyranitar, and Excadrill, and Sucker Punch provides valuable priority. The stat spread allows it to just barely survive a Wave Crash/Aqua Jet combo from scarfed Basculegion and return a KO w/ Double Edge and Sucker Punch.

Farigiraf w/ Mental Herb

32 HP / 32 Def / 2 SpD

Armor Tail Ability

Relaxed Nature

- Twin Beam

- Dazzling Gleam

- Trick Room

- Protect

Mental Herb stops it from getting taunted by Pranksters, Twin Beam one shots Sneasler through Focus Sash, Dazzling Gleam does decent spread damage and it eats the Roseli Berry commonly held by Sableye leads. Trick Room and Protect are self explanatory. The stat spread allows Farig to survive a Kowtow Cleave from max attack Black Glasses Kingambit should Kangaskhan not be able to fake it out. I chose this over Incineroar because Incineroar has a really bad matchup into Kingambit, something I want to be sure I have answers to.

Mimikyu w/ Sitrus Berry

32 HP / 32 Atk / 2 Def

Disguise Ability

Brave Nature

- Shadow Claw

- Play Rough

- Swords Dance

- Trick Room

Secondary Trick Room setter. 2 STAB attacks boosted by Swords Dance if the opportunity for setup arises with maxed out damage and bulk. Sitrus Berry is there to help offset damage taken after disguise is broken.

Tinkaton w/ Shuca Berry

32 HP / 14 Atk / 12 Def / 8 SpD

I shamelessly stole this set from CybertronVGC and adapted it for Trick Room. Tinkaton can be a helpful alternate Fake Out lead, Encore is good for disrupting opponents, and Gigaton Hammer will one shot bulky Mega Floette. Shuca Berry keeps it safe from a stray Earthquake but I’m not sold on it tbh. Mold Breaker also lets it use Fake Out through abilities like Armor Tail and bypass Multiscale but I think Own Tempo has its merits.

Clawitzer w/ Focus Sash

32 HP / 32 SpA / 2 Def

- Water Pulse

- Aura Sphere

- Ice Beam

- Protect

I actually had Primarina in this slot prior for how well Hyper Voice spread damage matched into sand teams, and tbh I’m still on the fence about dropping it for Clawitzer, but Clawitzer has the niche of OHKOing even completely bulked out Archaludon with Aura Sphere and reliably 2 shotting it after Light Screen. I’ve really struggled playing against Arch so I do like how well Clawitzer fares against it, though I am considering dropping Water Pulse for Muddy Water or slotting Primarina back in. Ice Beam is dragon insurance and Focus Sash helps make up for its middling bulk. EV spread is the same as Ampharos for the same reasons.
