Help with itinerary and where to stay.

I'm from the east coast and flying to Vegas to meet an old friend who lives there. We will then head out to area to hang out for 5-7 days.

I know for sure I want to be down at cedar grove lodge for 2 nights to explore that area and do some longer hikes through the canyon.

But the rest of the time I'm just not 100% sure where the best area is to stay. I know the trees over by grants grove. Moro rock. And maybe some good hiking if you'd recommends some.

This second area around sequoia seems to be the hard part. Finding a decent place to stay that's not a 90-120 minute driving each day.

Prefer lodging with 2 beds and AC. Since I'm sure late sept could still be pretty warm.

And I'll take any recommendations for hiking in the sequoia side. In or outside the park.

Fort Pulaski cannon.

Trying to figure out how often the cannon is fired.

Taking the kids there next week. I would love to have them see everything.

The site doesn't show it. But I've seen videos and picture of them shooting the cannon.

Savannah Georgia, Columbia SC, and Myrtle beach

anyone have a good distilleries that i should check out in this area? I love to find smaller places that sell stuff I'm not going to find around home.

Saw a place in Downtown Savannah. but i'm looking for basic whiskey, bourbon and rye. Most of the stuff they seem to show on their menu are flavored things and moonshine.

Kings Canyon and Sequoia. best places to stay to see it all. 4 or 5 days worth

So I'm just in the thinking stages right now. Next September or October (let me know if OCT is too late) to spend 4 or 5 nights in SEQ/KC area and try to hit all the good spots. some longer day hikes etc.

Quick searches looks like there is stuff at Grants Grove. seems like its in the middle but if we want to go down to the end of cedar grove thats a hike. So i'm thinking we do 2 nights in Cedar grove. Then maybe some where else. where else i'm not sure.

Thanks for any help!

Red river gorge.

Heading there tomorrow. There are soooo many hikes to choose from.

I'm looking for suggestions. Stuff that lasts maybe2-4 hours at the most.

Elevation gains are not an issue.

We have tomorrow and all day Tuesday. Probably getting to the area around 1. Check in the hotel at 4 and then maybe go back out again.

fire officer 1 proboard capable class

based in Maryland. one of my FF's needs to get Fire officer one class completed to take the promotional exam, however all the classes in Maryland won't work with his schedule.

So I'm wondering if there are any online based classes that might meet the requirements for proboard, which can then turn in and get credit for the class.

cost not an issue.

CD player for 2020

So I have a 2020 pilot. Has no cd player. Wondering if anyone has had luck for a temp solution.

My buddy I grew up with is flying in and we are doing a road trip. Last time I went to him and brought the 300 cd case I still have laying around and it was fun listening to the stuff we listened to as kids.

So I was thinking If anyone has bought a small portable cd player and used usb to power it and played it via the aux input.

Ideas on must see stops, hikes, anything between Mammoth Caves and Maryland that is just so awesome its worth the visit.

Hey everyone. My buddy and I are doing a National park/hiking road trip this july. Leaving MD and hitting New River Gorge, then Red River, then Mammoth caves.

We have a day or 2 to get from Mammoth caves back to MD. There is a lot of ground to cover and we are willing to go a few hours out of the way.

What are some off the wall things, or great hikes, crazy museums. just anything in between the two areas that you saw one time and just gotta get the word out and have other people see it.

Bonus points on a cool over night place to stop in.

New River to Red River, to Mammoth caves, Tips and advice.

My buddy and I are doing a 7 day road trip from Maryland to the above locations. I'll take any suggestions on stuff to see, do, hike etc. We are normally out west doing 8 mile hikes at 10,000 feet. so most of the hikes around the area here will be fine for us so I'd prefer the best hikes that have some difficulty and great views at the end.

Saturday to Monday at NRG. Staying at Ace in a cabin. I think this was pretty easy to plan. all trails has a good amount of trails to chose from. Anything else i really must do?

Leaving NRG Monday late morning and driving over to Red River Gorge. Here we rented one of those tree houses. Looks like alltrails has some great hikes to choose from. I want to get some pizza and beer in that climbing area for sure. Not sure what else we really need to see or do.

Leaving Wednesday to head towards Mammoth caves. This is where I really want help. Well above help and tips for New River and Red river are important, but here is where i'm stomped.

Do I rush out of Red River to make a 345 cave tour? or DO we spend more time at Red river and just get to the caves later.

Of the Cave tours, which do you really recommend? What are some of the above ground things we should check out. I guess we have all day here thursday, can maybe do some stuff friday, then hit the road back east.

injured paramedic new job

Wife tore her shoulder up and can never do EMS again. She was a 20 year paramedic and was a shift supervisor for the last 10 years. Considering having her apply for some medical related remote jobs. one job is doing QA for EMS billing. This is just one job I saw after 2 minutes of looking.

Anyone have any other suggesting for mostly remote jobs for a former Paramedic/supervisor that cannot do the job any more?

I guess if you have any suggestions. what is the general pay for said job.

Thanks

Hey. I've got a plan in my head on when to do each step, temp etc.

But I just want to make sure I'm not rushing or messing up.

Its about 11.5 to 12 pounds after trimming. I trimmed and seasoned last night. Plan is to cut and serve around 1pm tomorrow.

Temp plan was 200 initially in the smoker. wrap around 170ish and then turn up to 250.

Just want to make sure i start this on time to allow it to rest in the cooler for a few hours.

Also heck. i'll take any tips. This is my second attempt at a brisket, last one was christmas of 2024. so its been a while..

for some reason any time i search on reddit, it just hangs up. So it might be a repost.

I have an upright Pro Series. The last few times I've used it, the temp is always lingering 10-20% below what its set at. Set to 250, its 215. 300 its around 250.

Today I pulled it out to run it and test it again before i give them a call. This time though, put my probe inside the smoker (the one that comes with it) and the probe is displaying a temp that is almost dead on with the set temperature. So it was set 250 and probe was 248. Right now its Set to 300 and displaying 270 as actual and probe says 302.

So i'm guessing its getting to the right temp. but the display is off. which is odd.

So i'm not sure if its worth the call to their tech services or not.
