Acceptance of pederasty in 20th century gay communities
Hello, I have a question about the general acceptance of pederasty (Relations between an adult man & a post-pubescent boy) in early to mid 20th century queer communities. I understand it was common (at least commonly written about) in the Greek/Roman times, but the casualness with which gay authors from the 1920s-50s mention it is surprising.
Jean Cocteau , Jean Genet , William S. Burroughs, etc. They all wrote about grown men having relationships with younger men. I don’t mean just large age gaps but, like, 30-40-something’s dating or having sex 16-19 year olds. I’m just curious about the acceptance of this at the time, and how gay authors who are generally seen as very respectable & talented, also indulged in and wrote about relationships that are today very inappropriate/illegal.
I can’t over-exaggerate how happy I am for Zach
With Zach working with Midsommer’s music producer & on the new JD Beck album, it’s been hard for me to not think about how far he’s come.
From dropping out of highschool & pretty much playing drums nonstop for 15 years, experiencing homelessness & probably drug issues, for him to now be in a position to comfortably help out on producing mainstream-ish albums & working with big names is really inspirational & I’m just very happy for his success.
He seemed to really find footing with DG and I’m so glad for it.
Women in McCarthy books
Has anybody else noticed how women in McCarthy books are always benevolent? Like, always. At most they’re unstable, but they’re usually good to neutral characters. They’re usually contrasted by the horrible men who accompany them.
Joyce - Probably the “worst” one, but really just broken & probably has BPD or something similar.
Rinthy - Desperately searching for her son, birthed from an, in my opinion, non-consensual act with Culla. Polite and shy. Not accosted or hurt in anyway during the whole novel (except by Culla, the bastard).
River Woman (Blood Meridian) - Don’t remember her name, but her and her friends are the only people who care about the Idiot. She scolds the gang for treating him how they do, she then bathes & clothes him.
Carla Jean - Hapless victim in the middle of everything. Calls Anton out on his logic at her death.
Alejandra - Teenager who is in a hopeless romance with John. Catalyst for John’s path of revenge on the way back to the US.
To be fair, I haven’t read every single one of his books, so feel free to point out malevolent women. It’s just that women are usually not only good, but a ray of light or an example of innocence in a world full of sadists.
Outer Dark - Riverside Fire Talk
Holy shit. Just finished Outer Dark. First and foremost: Poor Rinthy.
The fireside chat between Culla & The Triune was the most intense thing I’ve ever read. Culla being ignorant of the immense weight of the encounter here. The slow prodding of the Bearded Man‘s statements, “If something ain’t got a name it don‘t exist” (paraphrased). Them slowly stealing his boots. It’s like Culla was finally made to face the consequences of his actions, but they're so abstract all he can do is walk away dumbfounded.
Tropic of Capricorn - Henry Miller
I read Capricorn before Cancer because I had simply found it first. I had an advantage because I’d read Sexus before, which was a while ago but I understood that Capricorn took place in nearly the same time period & shared some characters.
I think a lot of the lengthy surreal sections blew over my head. I could piece together some symbolism, like the skyscrapers & the black hole, but I think a lot of it I just didn’t get. I enjoy Miller’s writing, though, especially the surprisingly bittersweet last few pages.
I did pick up on a lot of the themes though. Being reborn as an artist, sexual liberation, American decay, etc.
Pretty good, just wish I had a more imaginative mind for the surreal sections, would probably make it more fun to read.
Quite possibly the only picture with Ride & Andy with a fan. Japan 2017.
This form of execution should be standard
Painless , cost effective, quick.
Never understood why in the US execution is such a theatrical event with an audience & everything. Also how lethal injection is apparently painful & very expensive. If we’re gonna have a death penalty then make it as easy & as much of a “transaction” as possible, I guess.
Hunter S Thompson driving Jimmy Buffet’s boat around looking swag as fuck.
Jay ‘Chef’ Hicks reading Sexus by Henry Miller. Apocalypse Now.

Photos of Death Grips with Japanese fans
Hello. I’m looking for photos of Death Grips with Japanese fans, they would’ve been taken around ~2017, when they played Fuji Rock. These photos are mentioned in Reddit comments from around the era, and would’ve probably been just of Zach & Andy, no Ride.
According to comments from the period they were in Death Grips’ & Zach’s insta mentions, but they’re so far down the rabbit hole of Insta @‘s it’s hard to find.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Fuji Rock 2013 - Red Marquee. Zach playing with no pants on. Love these photos.
FYF, August 2013 - Los Angeles. Death Grips is scheduled to a play a show after numerous no-shows earlier in the year. They showed up.
Love this video, so noisy. Zach rips off his jacket & shirt, takes one last drag & fucking rips.
