Picking technique and rhythm practice.

Hello everyone i am a primarily fingerstyle player, i can play with a pick but my technique is not sufficient enough because i can feel tension on my wrists, even if only a little. Furthermore i struggle with counting what i perceive to be difficult rhythms like a bar of music with eight note triplets that only play on second and third beat of the said triplet or first and third for example. Anybody have any youtube links that is like a guitar rhythm workout? Things like Dotted quarters, eight notes and triplets and trills? Essentially what good solos are made up of?

For whatever reason i am unable to count or play properly the rhythm when i play the solo or try to learn it, eventually what happens is i approximate the rhythm once it gets in my ear. Sometimes i can play exact but sometimes its off by a bit. I want to drill these things. Thank you!

Anybody else loves deep conversations about art?

Hello everyone. As an lifelong introvert, i have always preferred to read a book by the lake looking at doves, than spending my time partying in bars. I love the sounds of the city and the country, mechanized hums and industrial chatter to the soft gentle swaying of leaves. As you can perceive this has made me crave only two things in life, the pursue of arts and someone who finds the beauty in small things like i do. People who get irrationally happy after unearthing rare music in foreign languages for example and who cant wait to share it.

That and someone who prefers the quality of conversation over the frequency of them, i would much prefer to send a long message that takes a day or so than the frequent pressure to keep being in contact for chatter. I really cannot do extroverted stuff, but i am a writer so perhaps i can write something that makes it worth reading ?

We are here for a small amount of time on earth, might as well give in to our temptations and surrender our soul to the pursue of creation. Could be a song, a poem, a painting or a simple conversation. Thank you for reading

I am somewhere in my twenties, and a man. If this interests you perhaps we could have a talk. Thank you lovely folks and take care.

Art focused accountability buddy?

Hello everyone, I am someone who is deeply into the arts, i have been playing the guitar for a couple of years now and i am a writer, love reading books and play chess. Needless to say, these things are something i want to push myself to be as better as i can be. This is a journey that i am on. I am looking for someone who is so passionate about their art, or love some form of art so much that they want to begin, that this love, in turn causes them to be restless on unproductive days.

I am looking for someone to whom i can share my progress to and who will share their progress to me, It doesnt have to be daily upkeep, it could be weekly, we could have deep conversations if you want, or none thats fine to. But i am in it for a long term, i actually began a week ago and have stuck to it. So be assured that i will hold my end of my bargain and wont let the partnership down.

If this is something you are down for then hit me up. Remember this is not for some exam, or some course, it is for self improvement, so i'd rather go slow and steady than fast and burn out.

Take Care Lovely Folks!

Need a friend to send a poem a day to

Hello everyone, does anybody here love poetry? I am very fond of it, poetry can act like the window to ones soul. It allows me to understand how other people perceive the world. Also poetry acts like a voice of resistance, as an political statement in an oppressive regime.

I am looking for someone who loves poems, short, long doesnt matter. And someone who i can send a poem a day to and through which we share our analysis of it and how it makes us feel

I believe the best way to understand someone is through a shared analysis of art, because art is what unites us all in this world. Let me help you in helping me understand the world better.

Also because poems are very short, this could be like an extra added bonus on your daily reading goals that will keep you accountable.

Books on Jazz Theory/Chord Substitutions?

Hello everyone, i am someone who is just finding my way around the guitar finally after years of struggle. I can play barre chord shapes, i can play shell voicings, i know theory enough to know chords of a diatonic key, extentions and have around two voicing in my fingers for all the quirky 11 and flat 13 chords. Recently discovered Ted greene and his books and voicings are blowing me away, his books may be my desert island books.

However like most i have no formal theory training and i know basic ii-V-I progressions but i want to know how does one reharmonize a basic jazz progression? How are the cool slash chords used? What can i play as a passing chord? All these things i dont have any idea about.

So i am looking for a theory book that focuses on this, i want to play progressions and reharmonize them, any book of theory would do it doesnt have to be a book based on guitar. I am not the most smooth when it comes to reading staff notation but i can read it.

Need an annoying line against the Kings Gambit

Hello everyone, i currently play the falkbeer countergambit move order against the Kings Gambit because it was the only thing i learnt. However i find myself not enjoying these positions because i get them rarely and the opponent seems to know them much better. For context this is the move order

  1. e4-e5 2. f4-d5 3. exd5-exf4 4. Nf3

I am looking to switch it up and was just looking for perhaps a more annoying variation against the Kings Gambit, i dont mind if its a sideline and i dont mind if you suggest me the absolute mainlines of Kings Gambit accepted, i am open to all as i have no experience in this opening

Training Partner for Endgame/Calculation and The Joys of Chess

Hi! After years of obsessing about openings, playing too many games when tilted and feeling the highs and lows of this game we all love i decided to embark on an journey of actual improvement.

I am finally at peace somewhat about my opening explorations, i figured out (as we all do) that i was getting myself into good comfortable positions and yet losing a lot of games. Because my weakness lay in my lack of ability to calculate over a long game (because of fatigue) as well as a lack of decent endgame knowledge for my level.

So the short of it is, i figured out there is no single opening where im gonna do a "gotcha" on my opponent into a corner. And that i need to build up actual core skills like chess stamina, defending better, spotting basic tactics faster and knowing trading into which endgame will be favourable for me.

I have come here for help, in search of a friend who can accompany me in this quest for eternal knowledge (uhh surely thats 2000 fide right??). I am looking for someone who'd be interested in a similar thing and thus we could spar endgames, i could play a game once a while with , perhaps we analyse an old capablanca or alekhine game and share our notes and analysis to figure out the mistakes in our thinking process.

I am like super into the nitty gritty and small things, for me this journey is as much about the joy of discovering how certain variations of najdorf came and were refuted as it is about getting better and stronger. Aagard said the best training is what you enjoy and thus coming back to and wanting more. This is what i want to apply in my life.
