Saturday Afternoon with Rainbow Magic! 🌈

This was easily the biggest haul I've done in a day!! Not only did I get almost every plushie I went after, but then the Castlevania Marble of Souls machine was on fire. I won 5000 tickets out of it and almost a complete set of the regular rarity cards. Then when we went to leave, we came outside to double rainbows!!

Just crazy magical. Such a good time. I rode that high all the way home.

Dad threatens to hit his kid at hobbit sealed event

I was at a pre release event for the hobbit at my LGS and this guy who was drafting next to me brought his kids. I over heard him complaining about how this is was a last minute decision since mom was busy and he was clearly annoyed by this. Kid looked like he was about 4.

The entire time he was drafting he was telling his kid to sit still and be quiet and to stop playing with the cardboard box the cards came in. The dad didn't bring anything for him to do so he was just messing around with whatever he could put his hands on him.

I try not to judge other parents since I dont have kids of my own and I dont know this guy or what he is going through but the way that the only time he talked to his kid was to tell him to sit still and be quiet really bothered me. Like couldn't you have brought something for him to do or play with? Its a four hour event of course this kid is going to get bored and want to play with things inside a game store.

Anyway the reason I wanted to post this rant is what this guy said to his kid during the third match. The Dad was clearly sick of his kids shit after telling him to sit still after three hours so he starts to raise his voice. This is making everyone around his pretty uncomfortable. The kids get grounded by his dad for playing with his dice (not sure if he was using it as a life counter) then the kid knocks over a plie of cards. (Not sure if it was the deck he was using or his side board) but then loses it shouts at him to pick up all the cards then says he is going to spank him when he gets home.

This really ruined the event for me and put me in a shorty mood. I just can't imagine hitting anyone I know over cardboard let alone a small child. I wish I had said something but im not sure what I would say. Maybe dont be a fucking loser and hit your kid over pieces of cardboard. I just needed to rant about this and get it off my chest. Don't know what I should have done but I wish I did something.

The Gothic Market was like 50% AI slop

What's up with that? It really ruined my time there. Sucks because there were a lot of really talented artists and crafters there, and I hate that they had to be elbow to elbow with 3D printed dragons and AI gen slop.

The Colorado Sun's Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Forum

I know the article was already posted, but I think it's really important to see the stark contrast in responses throughout the whole recording of the June 13th debate between Phil Weiser and Michael Bennet.

Electrical fire at Littleton CO

Was anyone at Round 1 in Littleton last night when it started smelling awful and filling with smoke? We had no idea what was going on but thankfully a good Samaritan started shouting "FIRE! EVERYBODY OUT!" and we all filed out. The fire alarms were going off but the sound was so quiet compared to all the games!!

Does anyone who was there know what happened after that? We ended up leaving because I didn't want my car boxed in if there were fire trucks coming.

P.s. thank you to everyone who was there, it was so orderly and everyone was super helpful finding people to get them out of the building!

Ridiculous pulls from one of those walmart chaos boxes

I swear, only way this could've been better is if I got an Aetherspark or something.

Truly at a loss here. I want to make a discard deck, but as soon as I make anyone at the table put anything into the graveyard, I have to deal with them getting upset.

"GREAT! You made me discard my Sol Ring!"

"Anyone else want to play with all their cards? The best removal is player removal am I right?"

"I wish your mom discarded you when she found out she was pregnant."

It's honestly terrifying. I really can't handle commander players being this mad at me. What do I do? So far, I've got some ideas for placating the table:

  • Bring a bag of Hershey kisses. Every time someone has to discard a card, they get a lil kiss :)

  • After I make someone discard, I'll apologize profusely and let them swing with one creature 5/5 or under for each card I made them discard. It seems only fair.

  • If they seem super duper upset, I'll bow my head in shame and just take back the game action. Hopefully there are other players in the pod that are ok with it.

Any other suggestions? Maybe I can offer to buy them a pack after? I'm just not used to this level of interaction and I don't want to get a bad reputation at my LGS for playing a commander deck that does mean things to my opponents.
