[OC] Katara artwork for my Avatar card game

I'm making a fan made card game based on avatar

I've completed the first artwork for the Katara card

This is still a work in progress, but I'm pretty happy with how it looks so far!

Next up is Zuko, Toph and Aang

[OC] Initial sketches & prototyping for an original Avatar card game I'm making

I've had an idea for a card game set in the Avatar universe for a while now, and I'm finally making it

I've already figured out all the rules, I just need to make the cards...

The cards in these images are initial prototypes for the 'Hero' cards. You select 1 hero card at the start of the game

Every card will be a hand drawn illustration by me. This card game is a passion project, and 50% just an excuse to keep drawing Avatar fan art :D

This project is also motivated by you guys! All the positive feedback on my last couple posts here as super encouraged me to keep making avatar fan art

I'll post each finished artwork to my Instagram too if you'd like to follow the project :)

[OC] You guys liked my Katara artwork, so I gave Toph a shot!

All the feedback on the last piece inspired me to do draw another Avatar character!

This was the last one, if you're curious: here

I tried a few new things in this one based on feedback from the last piece. I'm not amazing at backgrounds, but tried one with a bit more detail. Any feedback is appreciated! :)

Which character should I do next??

u/ben_cav — 17 days ago

Can't figure out the composition. None of them feel quite right...

I've never been good at doing backgrounds, but I'm really struggling to figure this one out...

Any feedback is appreciated!

[OC] Did a second Katara artwork today... Feedback is appreciated!

Last post was here

I read all the feedback from the last post and adjusted my style a bit

I chose a more powerful pose to better represent the character. I also tried a new method for doing highlights, and attempted a stronger edge light.

I rendered the water in the same way as i did before, but I think it makes more sense here. I think the sharp crunchy look works better at a larger scale

Let me know what you think :)

How would we feel about being able to kill the xenomorph in Alien Isolation 2?

Me and my buddy were talking about this, and going back and forth on whether this would work…

It’s a natural evolution of the game, and might follow a similar step up of intensity like we see in the first 2 movies

If it were possible, how could they do it? Obviously no one wants this game to turn into an action shooter, but having some limited options (if done right) might make the intensity of the game even greater…

Imagine situations where you need to place traps, set up turrets, or otherwise defend yourself with limit resources. The levels could be far broader and larger, requiring you to set up mechanism to monitor map. You could view motion detectors, turret ammo, trap status etc. The aliens could be much less forgiving if you’re able to fight back

This is something they could introduce slowly….

Early game: no aliens can be killed
Early-mid game: you manage to trap and kill one as part of a major plot beat in the story. The game has revealed to you that they can indeed die
Mid game: you have access to traps and turrets you need to use to get through certain missions. They have a limited capacity to kill, and you can monitor ammo / activity in parts of the map
Late game: you have a limited access to bombs, or a powerful gun that could kill or wound the aliens
Final act: Only now you have a real opportunity to properly fight back against a swarm. Potentially get access to the mech suit. End the game in more of a blast.

What do you guys think? Could this risk ruining what made the first game so good? Or could the ability to kill them actually make the sequel more interesting?

EDIT: I agree that ever introducing a "gun" that can kill the xenomorph is a big NO. Killing would be limited to traps and turrets only, and maybe some final act tool

I've been working on a Crusade management app for over a year... Is there still a point?

The app is called Crewhammer

I've spent many weekends and afternoons building it. I've run 3 crusades with dozens of people using the app. It's come a long way. It's still a work in progress, but it has a lot of working features, and I have a LOT of ambition for where it could go...

I've continued working on it with the hope that I could one day make it public. However, with 11th edition coming out, is there still a market for this? The app is tied tightly with the concepts in 10th edition, and is still not feature complete.

I didn't expect to post anything about it at this stage, but...

If you'd like to try the app..

The app is live at crewhammer.com

Please keep in mind I run a single tiny server from Sydney Australia, so it will be slow. I can easily scale out the server for more people over more of the globe, but this costs money and I need to know if there is interest in doing this.

The app will have issues and incomplete features

If you'd like to talk about the app..

Feel free to message me over reddit, or leave a comment, but I've also made a discord server where we can discuss and track the app's progress here: https://discord.gg/EPebpnmKAR

My ambition...

My ambition for this app is to eventually become a kind of Warhammer social media app. You can run crusades or tournaments, upload images of your armies, streamline narrative campaigns with game-like visuals and custom rules, and track stats across various elements of Warhammer .

However, 10th edition rules has been the focus, and it will still take a lot of work to finish that aspect of the app. I'm not sure what to do at this point, and my motivation has been hit.

So, let me know what you think... should I keep going with this? Is there a market for 10th edition crusade rules? Do you want to try it out now, as is?

I still can't get over how PERFECT a crossover this would be!

Cyberpunk 2077 x Overwatch

How’d I do? I reckon most of this was pretty spot on

Only sad part is I didn’t commit nearly as much money as I should have to intel

I’ve noticed this happening twice. What’s up with this? Both times within the span of a week.

For a predictive language model, I can’t imagine any scenario when an Arabic character or word would be the next mostly likely thing to say…

I’ve never spoken to GPT in Arabic of have had any conversations that would feel related
