Best way to customize denim jumpsuit?

I bought two jumpsuits with the intention of crafting them into more unique pieces for my city’s upcoming Pride festival. One is white (pictured) and one is dark denim but hasn’t arrived yet. Originally I’d envisioned getting iron on letter decals to spell out something on the back, but now I’m considering other options.

Does anyone have experience or advice either

  1. Painting on denim? Ideally at least letters, but also likely a background behind the letters and maybe something on the pockets

Or

  1. cutting out fabric letters and gluing and/or stitching them onto denim with embroidery thread or regular thread?

I’ve included pictures of what kind of inspiration I have for the slogan I want. Thinking of something more country inspired for the darker jumpsuit and something more femme for the white jumpsuit.

Thanks!

Does anyone know why the lights at Windsor and Almon are blinking most of the time?

Is it construction? It doesn’t seem like it would be effecting it because of where the construction in the area is

Forested area close to the city for a Photoshoot?

I have an idea for a self shot Photoshoot that would be done in a forested or wooded area. I would like it to be close to the city as I bus around, but also not so public that it would be impossible to find an area to not be disturbed. I’d thought of point pleasant and long lake, but wondering if anyone else had any suggestions! Thanks

First bookbinding project complete! 2x books and custom bookmarks for a birthday present

1st ever bookbinding project complete! 2 paperback to hardcover rebinds of Heated Rivalry and The Long Game for my partner’s birthday + a couple cheeky custom bookmarks using the chiyogami paper I used for the end pages. Also custom stamped on one of the end pages saying they’re in her library!

So far from perfect but I went from idea to final completed project and all the learning in between (including learning how to use a cricut only to not actually use what I made with the cricut) in under 4 weeks! Very proud

First project done! A birthday present paperback to hardcover rebind x2!

They’re done! Two books + 2 custom bookmarks for my partner’s birthday!

I am of course my harshest critic and see all the many mistakes that happened along the way, but I am so proud. I didn’t realize what a project I’d taken on in truth, but I made many covers, end papers, practice books etc. this isn’t just having made these books but that I dedicated myself to learning so much in less than a month!

I don’t know if I will ever use HTV with or without a cricut again, it gave me endless grief, I accidentally put the wrong end papers on each book block, but I had to pivot, learn, be patient, and that’s worth a whole lot.

This project has been something I’ve had to keep secret from my partner and it’s been a little isolating as a perfectionist when I am stressing the little stuff. It often felt like I could never do enough or know enough, but this was my FIRST project and everything I learned this time and will improve upon next time. And there will be a next time.

Thank you to everyone who helped by answering my questions over the last few weeks, and those who have posted in the past. You all, and many different YouTube videos made this possible!

Best way to glue end paper to itself to increase structure and add design on both sides

I have some gorgeous Chiyogami paper to use for a paperback to hardcover rebinding gift project, and I made a test book with it as the end papers to see how it would behave, and realized I would like it to have the design on both sides. Now, it could also help to make the paper thicker if I pasted it to itself, but the questions I have are:

  1. how to best glue the paper to itself. Wheat paste, PVA, something else?
  2. should I only double over the paper where it will act as a page, and single layer where it is pasted to the cover, with enough of the double sheet for the hinge
  3. is what I’m describing not advised and I should just leave it as a single sheet and just be okay with it being white and unadorned on one side.

Thanks so much!

Found the perfect deal on the perfect Doc Marten sandals on Facebook Marketplace!

I’ve been searching for the perfect chunky black sandal for years but said to my partner just last week that I refuse to spend Doc Marten money on them. Cut to finding a Facebook marketplace listing for these normally $210 plus tax sandals for 40! Asked if she would take 30 expecting pushback, but she said sure, and two days later I have the perfect sandal!

Help! How to remove small bit of PVC/wheat paste from book cloth

I got the tiniest little bit of 65-70% PVC and 30-25% wheat paste on my The Long Game cover for a gift and I don’t know how to go about removing it if it’s even possible. if it isn’t I’ll make it the back cover and hope that it the decals will mask it, but if I can get it out I would like to!

Movie theatre perks/discounts when visiting

Hi friends!

I am visiting family in Wichita in June, visit yearly, and am from Canada. I always try and see a movie when I'm in town, and this time I'm wondering if there are any discounts or deals I could get by joining a free membership. Here in Canada we have Cineplex, but I know there's a few different theatre companies around town (Regal, AMC, and Boulevard in Old Town). Just wondering if there's one or multiple that I would benefit from joining their free membership program more than the others.

We have discounted days on Tuesdays here in Canada too, wondering if there's a similar day for any of the Wichita theatres!

Thanks in advance!

How to stylize cats similarly

Hi! I want to create a felt family photo for my partner and I. I’ve been able to find inspo for people felt portraits and separate inspiration for cat felt portraits, but when I tried to make the cat match this style last night it was not a success. Does anyone have any suggestions? One is a tabby and one is a calico. It looked clunky and not like the same styling at all

Ways to practice binding before making books as a present?

I am acquiring resources to re-bind the paperbacks of Heated Rivalry and The Long Game for my girlfriend in June. I am doing a lot of research to make sure I have all the odds of succeeding in this project as my first one, but I would like to make a couple practice covers first. The problem is, as we all know book cloth is expensive, and the rolls I’ve ordered I don’t think are going to have enough to make a cover to practice first.

I can’t afford to buy a whole bolt of book cloth or get all the supplies to make my own just to practice with, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for materials that I can practice with first. I could use paper, but I’m afraid it will behave differently to fabric. I’m not planning on using these practice covers so I could just use random fabric, but again I don’t know if it would behave similarly enough for it to work as practice.

I don’t want to mess up these books as they’re a gift and I’m investing a good bit of money into the materials, so any suggestions would be so very welcome!

Thanks in advance friends
