Without calling in after thr fact they will not honor the four hour grace period that is a perk of the amex platinum.

I just assumed it was automatic. Never checked before. I use it often. Today just happened to be a one day rental I returned two hours late and noticed double the price I booked.

Also I will say this hertz president circle cars have gone down hill

Returned a hertz 2 hours late today and they charged me for an extra day. I had to call in to get it fixed so if you use this Hertz/Amex perk double check your receipts.
