is playing with cashback actually healthier or am i just fooling myself

anyone else have that weird moment where you sit down to play and realize you're basically gambling with money youve already spent on groceries

hard to explain what i mean. last night i was bored, opened up my usual slot, and before depositing i checked my coverd and threw the little cashback pile i had built up into the account instead of pulling from my bank. felt completely different than depositing fresh money. like i didnt care as much when i lost a few spins because in my head it was already gone weeks ago when i bought gas and whatever else.

is that a healthier way to play or am i lying to myself? because part of me thinks im just dressing up the same habit in a nicer outfit. but the other part is like, no, this is genuinely house money, i already lived without it.

curious how other people think about this. do you treat rewards/cashback/points differently when you gamble with them or is money just money once its in the account

Got kicked out of the Hard Rock Casino for Collecting Abandoned Cash Outs

Well todays the day I learned how much Hard Rock differs from other casino groups. Typically when I gamble on slots or a machine and someone leaves a balance of about 20 cents, I just cash it out and use it when I'm playing the next machine. Me and 4 other friends were out at the Hard Rock casino playing slots and along the way we went around the casino playing with our own cash and cashing out abandoned machines for 5 cents to 50 cents. Eventually we caught the eye of Hard Rock casino employees and while cashing out he asks if this is my machine. I say "its not" because I am not a liar but it is abandoned and he knows it is. He takes the cents ticket and just says "thank you" and another colleague comes and says "they are in a big group of 7 doing it together". He tells us that we cannot cash out like that and we apologize and say we won't do it again. We also said they can check the cameras because we are spending money and just did it for fun. We move on and a few minutes later, a sheriff and 2 employees come and tell us to leave for the night and we do with no questions of hesitation. We cashed out a total of $2 - $3 and spent a loss of $30 and this all happened within 15 minutes of entering. We were only going to spend more and buy drinks but it just shocked us that they would kick us out over that but we figured its because the employees like cashing the machine out themselves and using it as a tip since thats how I have tipped with tickets in Vegas. Never had a problem with Caesars entertainment or MGM with this and they never cared but Hard Rock did. I guess I'm just surprised that they escalated it to kicking us out even though we told them we wouldnt do it again. Sucks because I did like the casino but I dont think I would play at Hard Rock casino again. Its like when you make a mistake, its a big deal and illegal. But when they make a mistake, its just a my bad. In reality, I think its just the casino staff mad that they couldn't collect that change for themself and they might have to wait a certain period before they can do it.

do comps count as winnings or am i just coping

Genuine question for the degens here. Do you count comps and cashback as "winnings" or is that mental accounting nonsense?

I got into a semi-heated thing with my brother-in-law over Thanksgiving about this. I had a pretty rough month at the casino (down like 4 figures, don't wanna say exactly because it makes me feel worse typing it). But when he asked how I was doing, I said, "Eh, basically break even," because I factored in host offers, a comped steakhouse dinner for me and my wife, a free room for two nights, and some random cashback stuff I had going on from my regular spending outside the casino. I had a couple of purchases earn cashback that morning, which put me in a decent mood before the conversation started.

He lost his mind. Said comps aren't real money, they're a marketing expense the casino writes off, and that if I wouldn't have bought the steak dinner on my own, then getting it "free" isn't saving me anything, it's just the casino paying me back a fraction of what I lost with extra steps.

And like... I hear him. I do. But I also genuinely would have taken my wife somewhere nice that weekend regardless, so to me that's a real ~$200 I didn't spend. Same with the room. The free play I agree is fake money until it's cashed out.

Where do you guys draw the line? Do you track your yearly P/L with comps included or strictly cash in, cash out? Because if it's strictly cash, I have to admit I'm a way worse gambler than I tell myself I am, and I'm not sure I'm ready for that lol.

What is genuinely the best casino rewards program for out-of-state luxury perks?

I’m getting to that age where I’m ready to be loyal to one casino, so I can start earning status and getting VIP perks, rather than bouncing between multiple places. I’m looking for a place with a good rewards system that has one main casino within a days drive from LA, but also has sister locations for when we want to take trips a little further out. Any recommendations? I’ve been to most of the casinos within 5 hours of LA, but never really paid much attention to their programs.

Jackpota will not allow me to redeem $2000

Been playing Jackpota for alomost a month. I was able to cash in winnings from $300 to $800 without issues in the first few weeks. Then I won $2200 and all of a sudden they wanted verification. They have repeteadly rejected all attempts to submit my bank statements and proof of address. When I ask what was wrong with what I submitted, they said it is invalid. Nothing else to guide me to fix what is "invalid." I tried phone calls, the chat feature, and sending emails, and all I could ever get was that my documents were invalid. I found out their company is completely automated and EVERYTHING is run by AI. They do not answer the phone number given, but after they call they send an automated message saying to contact customer service through the email they provide...which of course sends you through the automated system once again. The chat feature is the same. Completely AI. All questions are answered using AI. Anyone have an idea of what step I can take next (other than sucking it up and taking the loss)?

Is it true that casinos "use the same techniques in state-of-the-art animal husbandry to make the cows and sheep feel comfortable"?

>Dim lights, soft music, a maze of passages that lead you back to the pens, or the slots, depending.

>There’s no windows or clocks anywhere so there’s no passage of time. Low priced alcohol is poured down you by attractive young women.

>Oxygen is pumped in to keep you awake, and the constant bells and sirens make it seem like someone’s winning all the time.

Has anyone actually made decent money using casino bonuses?

Seriously, the playthrough/rollover requirements on most bonuses are insane. You have to wager the amount like 35x just to see a dime.

The most I've ever managed to cash out from a bonus was $20, mostly because of the max win limits. Has anyone here actually beaten the odds and walked away with a big win using a bonus, or are they just a total trap to keep us playing?

Dealer break time is such a bitch

If a reliever is delay, it shaved my break time. So fuk'in ridiculously. Why doesn't pencil make a straight rule. No matter how reliver is delay, it's on that 20 mins break for the dealer and the reliaver. It's simple, don't make it a mess out of it. Now I have to set my phone to certain break time.

Which Online Roulette Sites Do You Trust?

There are so many online roulette sites available today that it's hard to know which ones are actually worth using. I'm interested in hearing from people who regularly play roulette for real money. Which platforms have you had the best experience with in terms of fair gameplay, reliable payouts, good customer support, and overall trustworthiness? Do you prefer live dealer roulette or standard online tables? Also, have you found any sites with particularly good bonuses, promotions, or lower house edge options like European Roulette? Looking for genuine recommendations based on real experience rather than marketing claims.

Any real tips for finding the best slots?

Does anyone else feel like choosing slots has become way more annoying than it should be?

Every casino lobby has thousands of games now, but the top and new sections don’t really help much. Half of it looks promoted, and a lot of best slots lists just recycle the same titles without explaining why they’re actually worth playing.

When you find a slot you haven’t tried before, what do you usually check before giving it a go? Provider, RTP, volatility, bonus features, demo mode, game mechanics, reviews, or do you just open it and see how it feels?

I’m trying to get better at filtering out games that look good but turn boring after a few minutes.

Freebies and monthly offers from casinos

I've recently started visiting three casinos near me. One is 30 minutes away, one is an hour, and one is about 1.5 hours. They all send me lots of mail now, and of course offers of free play, free food, and free rooms. My girlfriend and I visit these places multiple times per month, and I typically get better offers than her, presumably because I spend more on my account. I get offers of free things too, like blankets, tote bags, or kitchen gadgets. I get those, but she does not. She also gets lower free play amounts and barely any food credits.

Lately, I usually get $20-$25 per week in free play, and about $20-$40 per month in free food credits. 2 of the casinos have been offering me weekly free rooms also. Then 2 of them also offer free giveaways (blankets, totes, etc). She usually gets only $5 weekly free play, and no food credits, and none of the free giveaway items.

So the question is - anyone know approximately how much we need to spend to get the various levels of comps per month? I am sure there's no exact answer to that question, but maybe there's some general knowledge out there that I just don't know. I'd say we run probably $2k per month through my card (ok, sometimes I go without her lol) and maybe only $400 through hers.

Our thought is that instead of playing so much more on my card, we could split it up and play more on hers, and maybe she would get offered the free goodies more often too.

My initial thought is that the freebie items probably aren't worth the hassle of trying to figure this all out lol....But, some of the things I have got are kind of nice actually. Some have been junk though too (I'm looking at you Firekeepers fan/speaker combo thing from last week!)

(The casinos are in Michigan and are Firekeepers, Gun Lake and Soaring Eagle, if that makes a difference)
