I posted about a UI builder (AppGrape studio) for Supabase in this sub last week - and a lot of people reached out to ask about the security aspects of the connection, specifically RLS and service keys. So, I made a detailed video explaining these. In short,

AppGrape Studio
- doesn't ask for service keys or API secrets for the connection
- connects to supabase through standard OAuth handshakes
- respects RLS, RBACs and policies from the get-go
- only allows supabase auth users
- allows no-code UI building without AI

For context, we built AppGrape Studio for internal use within our agency because we wanted a deliberate, deterministic UI builder to run clients' businesses. We care a lot about security and first principles, so we want to make the code open source - we are working on this and will release the repo shortly.

In the last couple of years, I have built several business applications that run on supabase data. Eventually, to make life easier and not repeat the steps every time, my colleagues and I started automating parts of it - and now we have something solid.

I know that there are a few great admin panels / AI UI builders out there - but we wanted something more: business dashboards, native handling of views and foreign keys, data security without transferring client data anywhere else and more importantly, ability to integrate custom scripts, functions and automations.

I would love to know if this is something that is useful for the community. We are internally debating whether to open source this project (maybe AGPLV3 or BSL license, haven't figured out the details yet) because we are obsessed with security, and we ourselves wouldn't trust something new or vibe coded for client data.

Please let me know if this is something that maybe useful to you.

So, when I press the volume up or down button on the TCL tv remote, instead of increasing/decreasing by a single unit, it increases/decreases by say 8 units. This happens randomly, and the quantum of increase/decrease also changes every time.

I ordered another remote thinking the remote button (hardware) had a problem. But the new remote also had the same problem.

I have the latest software update. I have restarted several times. Nothing seems to fix this. Any idea how to sort this?

I own a small tech company that builds custom softwares, ERP systems and automations for businesses. I started 3 years ago, and I am afraid I still do not have clarity about my niche / vertical.

In the beginning, I was naturally doing small projects for people in my network - just anyone who wanted to save time from mundane work. And I ended up doing softwares for accounting, pdf parsing (like PO / invoice automation), real estate, construction and a few more verticals.

I didn't restrict myself to a vertical because I was focussing on getting my first clients and cash flow in place. Now, I feel like my business has built softwares for simply every single use case out there that it is getting difficult to grow / market / sell.

If you are someone who got stuck in this loop of being a generalist, how did you break free from it?

I am not seeing any single vertical being more profitable. My clients are generally happy and keep coming back to me for more work - but this still means that my team's resources are spread and I am stuck in the experimental phase of saying yes to projects that are vastly different from one another. That I haven't identified THE gap is probably a succinct way of summarising the whole post - please advice.
