Marseille, you were such a wonderful surprise

Thank you for allowing me to be a guest in this warm city

Since day 1 the people of Marseille went out of their way to help me and make sure to understand me and my broken French. Thank you for letting me enjoy the same hospitality I am used to growing up in a Turkish family. I expected a bit of cynicism towards tourists and was instead met with a genuine appreciation for my interest in this city. You have a bad and undeserved reputation for being dangerous, but this is the judgement every city faces where poverty mixes with migration.

One week was genuinely not enough and who knows: maybe I will spend my honey moon here.

Truly the jewel of the sud. Vous avez été merveilleux.
