Latest .iso can't be made into usb boot?

Hi,

I've tried making the latest iso release "manjaro-kde-26.1.0-260812-linux71.iso" into an usb boot installer, but I can't get it working. I've tried both 'dd' and rufus and in both cases the usb fails to boot.

Any help is appreciated?

Thanks

EDIT_01:

Many suggested Ventoy so I tried that and it seems to work. Thanks.

Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK powers on, but permanent black screen?

Hi,

I have an older Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK that have served me well the last 10 years.

The other day it had a small bump, but it stayed on and kept working (it was connected to a tv with hdmi).

Then when I restarted the machine the screen got lit after reboot, but was just all black and stayed that way.

The PC seems to boot normally and I'm sure the login screen for my OS is just waiting for me behind that black screen.

I've tried to connect a HDMI monitor, but it receives no input from the PC. I've also tried to power it on both with and without power adapter and it's still the same.

I've also had the back plate dismounted and cleared it of dust. There was nothing noticeable wrong looking at the electronics under the back plate.

Since I had the back plate off I also tried to unmount and remount the ram sticks it, but it didn't help.

I've searched for answers and apparently that model has a notorious bug known as "black screen of death", but as I understand it goes black after a login attempt and not just all the time as mine does?

I can't even enter boot menu. The screen is just black, but lit right from power on.

I feels wasteful to just give up on it so I'm asking here if anyone has some suggestions to fix this problem.

Thanks

dolphin recognizes .txt files as shell script instead of plain text?

Hi,

I'm using CachyOS with KDE and Dolphin as my file browser and its behavior is a bit strange. I've installed sublime text 4 and set "*.txt" files to open with sublime.

When I make a new text file and double click it i get a popup asking if i want to launch the file.

If I right click it and select properties it says its registered as a "Shell script" type?

Dolphin is using its default settings.

If I middle click the file it opens with Kate?

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

Help me compare similar SQL tables

Hi,

If i have two SQL tables that are similar as in the have the same number and order of columns, but there is no key column and the order of rows and number of rows could vary between the two tables.

How would I go about comparing them and check for differences?

I've tried to think of solutions myself and asked AI about it too, but it seems difficult as there is no key column and the order and number of rows could change.

I've been working with the idea that the combined data of each row should be unique so I've added a hash column and it seems to be a possible way forward. But only for finding differing rows. I don't know how to get the excact difference in the row cell from here?

Preferably I need to see what would change in the "prod" SQL table if synched with the "dev" SQL table. This comparison could possibly be sent to a third table "changes SQL table.

Any help is appreciated :)

Thanks

Quake 3 arena - single click gives double click?

Hi,

As the title explains I've installed the GOG version of Quake 3 Arena in Lutris and running it with wine-ge-8-26-x86_64 like every other game I've installed in Lutris and the game runs fine.

However whenever I click the game makes a double click. It's really annoying in the menus, but not really an issue in-game. I'd still like to hear if anyone has a fix to this?

I have this issue on both CachyOS and Manajaro where Lutris is installed as flatpack.

Thanks

CachyOS and Lutris "OpenGL loader failed!"

Hi,

I'm on CachyOs and playing PD2 through Lutris and everything works.

Then I updated my system the other day and I can still launch the pd2launcher, but when pressing "Play" in the pd2launcher I get this popup error "OpenGL loader failed!".

It happens with both Wayland and X11.

I can play the game if I set the loader to "DDRAW" instead of "3DFX".

Has anyone else experienced this? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

EDIT_01:

OK so I also did a flatpak update and a sudo yay -Suy and then it worked again.

Classic mistake I guess.
