Status Update
Spent today making progress on the reactor module.
The goal is to create a self-contained “reactor core” that can eventually become a modular accessory for Moon Man. Today’s work was mostly mechanical:
Redesigned the housing around the speaker and magnets.
Printed and test-fit the first prototype.
Started experimenting with a UV-reactive ferrofluid chamber.
Testing different magnet spacing before moving on to electromagnetic control.

Every revision gets me a little closer.

Status update/ nightstand mode

New this week

  • Apple Watch charging dock integrated into the helmet
  • Wireless phone charger under development
  • Updated ambient blue lighting
  • Testing charger placement and cable routing

Current Variants

  • Desk Lamp
  • Wireless Charger
  • Pen Holder
  • Phone/Tablet Stand
  • Printer Monitor Version
  • Nightstand Version (in development)

Current Focus

The goal is to combine:

  • Apple Watch charging
  • Wireless phone charging
  • Ambient lighting

into a single bedside companion.

Next Milestone

Finish the wireless charging integration and complete the first fully functional Nightstand Edition prototype.

Feedback is always welcome. The project gets better every time someone suggests a new use for him.

PROJECT MOON MAN // STATUS UPDATE

Tonight was the first time I had all major systems online together for a proper photoshoot.
Current status:
✓ Modular astronaut platform complete
✓ Reactor / life support sled operational
✓ Remote web controls online
✓ Live camera system functional
✓ MQTT network stable
✓ Touchscreen status display integrated
✓ Remote printer control working
✓ Tailscale remote access working
What started as a simple desk companion is quickly becoming a modular connected platform.
The goal has never been to build just another astronaut model. The goal is to build something that can grow with each new module, feature, and experiment.
For the first time, it finally feels like all the pieces are starting to come together.
Still a lot left to build.

Moon man S

Here is a link to the smallest version of my Moon Man project.
This version is designed to be simple and easy to assemble:

Glue the arms into your preferred position

Insert the cylinders into the arms

Attach the hands onto the cylinders

Insert the visor into the helmet by aligning one tab with the opening first

Flex the visor slightly to slide the second tab into helmet opening
Slide the visor fully into the helmet until it pops into the round openings

Set the helmet onto the body

This little guy is what originally started the entire Moon Man project.

Status update/ The sled

Got the first version of the sled off the printer this morning and started assembling the hardware side of the sled. There will have to be a few revisions on where certain cables go etc but overall the build quality and architecture is there where it needs to be.
Upcoming revisions

Final version of moon man body is currently under revision for cable management and air circulation evaluation.

Polish UI

Improve servo sweep and control settings

STATUS UPDATE // MOON MAN
Moon Man is no longer “just a robot” — it’s now a fully networked platform.
Over the last 24 hours -completed the Pi-based infrastructure, added dedicated Wi-Fi hosting, internet relay, remote access, and connected the Pi, ESP32s, touchscreen UI, and mobile web interface into one system.
today was networking day.
Moon Man can now:
host its own control website
be remotely accessed from anywhere
manage distributed hardware
support future webcam and printer hosting
function as a modular monitoring/telemetry platform
The “life support/reactor” sled is now the compute and networking core of the ecosystem.
Now finishing the sled design and turning this into a fully deployed fabrication companion system.

Moon man - This project escalated quickly.

Initially, it started as a simple astronaut desk figure and gradually evolved into a modular ESP32/Raspberry Pi project.

Current plans and features include:

- Servo-controlled visor and helmet movement
- Internal lighting
- Cooling and fan cartridge system
- Wireless controls
- Touchscreen and web UI
- Modular internal electronics sled

Most of the components are still prototype hardware and test prints at the moment, but it’s gradually transforming into a fully interactive desk companion.

Honestly, this project escalated much faster than I anticipated.

Currently, I’m working on a “life support” expansion or support rig for the project.
