• Since early May, I’ve had around 28 Costco gold deliveries (May/June/July). Values vary — not every box is a $25k–$50k shipment (I wish) — but some are, and nobody wants to miss something that valuable.

• As we all know, it says 9am - 1pm, but my first few were always 230pm+....sucks bc we and most people who work full‑time, I can’t sit at home for hours waiting for FedEx. Convenience matters when you’re trying not to miss a high‑value delivery.

• After a handful of 230-3pm+ every single time deliveries I asked him why it always pushes back etc etc, my then‑regular FedEx driver (I only had him for about 3 weeks) seemed nice. He mentioned he hoped to get more hours. He told me his morning route starts at a Walgreens 3 minutes from my house and said I could meet him there at 9 AM instead of waiting until 2–3 PM. He said it didn’t matter where I signed as long as it was me.

• With everything going on (my senior rescue dog was in the ER for weeks), meeting at Walgreens was extremely convenient. I wasn’t doing inventory checks as consistently as I normally do. Sometimes I just put the box in the safe without opening them right away, especially when they aren’t super high‑value - i know, i know stupid on my part and reckless

• The first person to deliver after him I asked if we could do the same - older lady who was a 30‑year FedEx veteran looked like I was crazy, then asked who I was, asked for my ID, and told me Costco/FedEx have strict rules for these packages - only the address on the box, scan ID, and off you go

• She then proceeds to tell me he no longer works there (was fired, opposite of what he told me as he didnt want extra hours) and gave some context: he didn’t show up for shifts, was late often, and had “other issues.” I had no idea about any of that until she told me.

• I recently did a full inventory because I made several purchases last week and this week — and realized I’m missing specific bars, including (2) Argor 1 oz green‑assay bars. These are definitely not in my safe.

What would you do in this situation? Am I just SOL, or is there a path forward given Fedex didnt follow Costco's protocol? Timeline

Late 2020 through 2021, I became one of the largest customers of an online sports card breaking company, that was very small and now has grown to a full-time office in NYC with over 30 employees.

During that time, I spent well over $200,000 with them through PayPal, wire transfers, and cryptocurrency.

Because I was opening high-end products publicly, I also drove significant traffic and visibility to their business while they were very small and just starting, but a friend referred me to them so I wanted to "help out the little guy" - as the majority of my other business was to large, reputable shops

The dispute

One weekend they allowed me to open approximately $35,000 worth of boxes "on tab," with payment due Monday since my purchase limits were hit during the week

This arrangement was discussed and accepted with the understanding that a third party who owed me money would pay them directly - they spoke to the third-party and understood and accepted this

That third party never paid (which became an entirely separate legal matter involving a no longer best friend I had hired for a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency business I started and was highly successful right off the bat).

What happened next

After I couldn't pay immediately, I received aggressive collection efforts, including threats and intimidation from someone representing them.

To secure the balance, I sent approximately $45,000 worth of high-end sports cards (five cards total) as collateral.

Within about three months, I paid the balance in full.

My allegations

After paying in full:

My collateral was never returned.

The cards from the $35,000 worth of box breaks were never shipped.

My understanding is that my collateral may have been sold, although I do not have direct proof of that.

I have documentation of the transactions, payments, emails, text messages, shipping records, and communications surrounding all of this.

Attempts to resolve

I attempted to resolve everything privately through a mutual friend who acted as a mediator.

I later received a cease-and-desist letter from an attorney representing the owners after speaking publicly about what happened

At one point, one of the owners discussed settling and proposed an NDA, but the offer was only to return one card worth roughly $5,000, which I declined.

Additional events

The financial loss contributed to significant mental health issues, and I ultimately entered treatment during that period.

In 2025, I received anonymous text messages referencing the owners, threatening to contact my family and containing personal information about them. I forwarded those messages to their attorney and advised that I intended to pursue legal action if we could not resolve the matter. The attorney responded that he would only communicate through legal counsel.

Where I need advice

I lived in Tennessee at the time during Covid, but currently live back home in Florida, and the company operated out of New Jersey when we conducted business out of their parents house (very, very wealthy family) and there may also be New York issues involved.
