Getting ready to piece my long block back together. What sort of gasket material should I use on the upper oil pan to block surface?

I bought this bike to try out the whole dual sport thing. It has been a very fun bike and I'm incredibly sad to see it go. It was never the 'best bike' for any one discipline but it sure did a lot of things well. I'm now fine tuning my interests and, unfortunately, the XT just doesn't have the umpff I need for long distance travel. On the bright side, I got a great deal on a low mileage DR650. Have fun out there.
Scooped this '12 up for a song. Only 1900 miles on it. The PO put Moose Racing lowering links on it and I'd like to return it back to stock height.
Does anyone have a set of stock links and a stock length kickstand lying around? I'd be happy to buy them or trade my lowering setup. Thanks!
I'm doing a head gasket on my 2.7 and when I pulled the exhaust manifold, I found a pool of oil inside this port behind the manifold gasket. I can't, for the life of me, figure out where this port goes. There are two of them that are covered by the gasket and the other is clean.
I can only think of a cracked head being the culprit but this is a very off place for it to crack.
164k. Needs a head gasket but it runs good and there are no weird noises. And it has a recalled frame. Couldn't pass it up!
The bike will only run with the idle screw nearly all the way in. Seems like it's starving whenever I turn it down lower. Valves are correct and it's timed. I was going to replace the intake seals next.
Any pointers?
I think it's time for a top end and I have some fresh pistons/cylinders ready to go on. I was thinking about replacing valves guides and lapping valves in the garage. How difficult are the guides to remove and install?
I took my intake off to get a peak at the intake valves and noticed some bubbles from unburnt fuel sneaking past the front intake valve on compression. I'm assuming I'll need to lap the valves at the very least.
Looking for a fastpack in the 23-28l range. Preferably with running vest style straps but open to other options!
I currently have 1.5" Rancho leafs on the back but they won't support my 250lb dirtbike without sagging. I'm looking for some spring recommendations that'll keep me around a 2" lift without squatting like one of those stupid trucks.
I have a trip planned for next month and the lead times from seat concepts are about 8 weeks right now.
Looking at this truck as a project. 08 4x4 2.7 w/ 164k on the clock. Frame was recalled 12 years ago and is super clean aside from these two spots. The rest of the body on the truck is also clean. $2k is the asking price.
Realistically, is this frame past the point of no return? Is there any mitigation for this scaling? Is it safe?
But they want 10k so it ain't going to happen
A buddy has a single cab 2.7 4x4 MT up for grabs for $2.5k. It has 164k on it but it needs a head gasket and the truck is originally from Massachusetts. The frame was recalled in 2012 (it's in Colorado now). The rest of the body has some rust spots but nothing structural. I have yet to actually look over the truck but, assuming the frame is solid, would this be a decent buy for the asking price?
I'm able to do all the work myself and actually just got done with this job on my 1st gen. As far as the rest of the truck goes, the steering rack and clutch were recently replaced.
Definitely a long shot but if anyone has a 18-19" torso Yar Gear Cadence pack up for grabs, I'm in the market for one. I had one that I should've never sold. Thanks!
4th gear is out in my buddie's ax15 and I was able to source an NV3550 w/ t-case out of an 01. Will the trans/t-case be compatible with my trans mount and driveshafts?
My steering wheel is torn to bits and I'd like to replace it with a stock wheel. If anyone has a post-96 wheel that's in good shape, I'll buy it off you. Bonus points if it has cruise control buttons.
UPDATE!!!!! Original Reditor confirmed they sold the truck to a dealer for a very reasonable price and this new ad is from the dealer themselves. The OP in this case is VERY innocent and and nice guy!
The pics that were attached to the thread revealed holes in the frame in multiple areas. OP and I had been messaging (I won't provide the name) about the truck for parts and I was sent pictures of the truck so I can confirm this is it (we're both in Colorado). In the ad, the seller states the truck has "Typical Tacoma rust".

I don't care if I'm being shitty, I hope nobody buys this death trap.
