What is expected from a fresher joining MDS 1st year?

I’m joining MDS 1st year soon and wanted to hear from current/recent MDS residents about what faculty, departments and seniors expect a fresher to already know on Day 1, across both clinical and non-clinical specialties.

I have a considerable gap after BDS/internship and haven’t been in clinical practice since then, so I’m quite out of touch with the clinical side and want to prepare myself beforehand.

- Which BDS subjects/concepts should be strong?

- How much clinical knowledge, diagnosis and treatment planning is expected?

- Are we expected to remember instruments, materials, procedures and protocols?

- How much should we know about case history, examination and investigations?

- What academic/research knowledge is expected?

- What do faculty/seniors generally expect during the first few months?

- What are freshers commonly surprised to be expected to know?

- And what are we not expected to know when we first join?

Would really appreciate insights from current/recent MDS residents, especially regarding how much is expected from someone who has been out of clinical practice for a few years.

How do I(27f) comfort my bf (28f) in LDR when he is sad?

So I am in LDR with my bf.

He has this habit of isolating himself whenever he is going through something.

He does let me know that he is sad but then after some minutes he withdraws.

I do understand that some people find comfort or like it when they are alone, while other feel the need of someone's company.

I understand that and maybe my bf is in the former one.

So, I give him space whenever he wants.

But it's been the same every time.

I feel so helpless and bad that I am not able to comfort him.

I feel bad that he is going through something and I can't hug him in person and comfort him.

And I feel I am not good with words as well, I used to be good earlier but now I am not able to because I also feel hopeless and not doing much with life as well.

So sometimes I try to just stay silent, but then I feel bad, like I'm not helping at all.

What to do?

How can I get education loan of 10 lakhs?

Hey, there ..

So I am thinking about taking an education loan of 10 lakhs for my postgraduation courses.

The 10 lakhs includes 3 lakhs of tuition fees and the rest is hostel fees, thesis , books and miscellaneous expenses..

Can I get an education loan without collateral?

Also, would they accept the cosigner to be a non earning member?

I don't want to include my father as a cosigner because of some differences and his reluctance. Can I make my mother cosigner even though she isn't earning?

In my case which bank would help me to get loan?

Or would nbfc would be the only option left?

Any advice or suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

I have accepted the fact that no one can understand me.

I have accepted the fact that no one can understand me.

And guess what?

I don't want to explain to anyone anymore...

Let people paint me however they want to..

Because I would be going away minding my own business, too consumed in my own world to give a shit about anyone..

A philosophical advice i got for my ongoing situation.

Came across this thoughts somewhere and felt little striking...

So sharing it here...

One of the hardest truths of adulthood is:

Some people may genuinely have acted unfairly toward us.

We may never receive an apology.

We may never receive acknowledgment.

The question then becomes:

"Do I want my future to remain tied to proving they were wrong?"

Or:

"Do I want my future to be built regardless of whether they ever change?"

The second path is usually the one.

I feel so lost.

It was my third attempt for neet mds...

Feels so unfair that I see my batchmates from the very first attempt itself joining the college enough though I scored the same as them.

Why didn't I join?

No financial support and this time too it continues the same..

All these years, I thought it's okay let's do the hard work..

If I don't have any money, hard work would definitely help me..

But God forbid, I didn't even have the liberty to concentrate on my studies..

Had to do the preparation from the house itself in a very dysfunctional family going through all the traumatic experiences to the point where I fell into the depression.

But still no one bothered about my mental health..

I still tried but by the last attempt I was so burned out and mental health hit so bad that I couldn't study..

Many people used to say, you can't study in that environment..

Leave your house you are very much disturbed..

But i couldn't as I wasn't financially independent..

I live in a remote place, so can't even go to clinic for practice..

And to move out to another city, I needed money ..

I did gave interviews in clinic in the city last year but since I had career gap they didn't want to give me salary right away..

They wanted me to work for them at free of cost for some months but i couldn't even relocate as my family can't help me with my expenses in the city..

So i ended up sitting at home and preparing for the exam..

So at last..

I don't have any clinical skills to earn money,

Neither I scored enough to get in to govt college...

And plus I am older now..

Everyone in my family and relatives are expecting me to bring some money to the house...

People see me as failure..

People think I am dumb that's why I couldn't get the govt college..

People think I am complaining....

Yes people just see your results, if you score good or doing well then you are something..

But if not, no one is gonna empathise with you..

no one understands th

e pain I went through,

the numbness I feel,

And the same time the feeling that you are lot behind in your career,

Where you see people earning doing something with their life..

But now..

You are just left with an undergraduate degree, no confidence, no skills, no socialising power anymore..
