Hi guys it’s me and my Very Important Analysis of these two characters.

1.       Abilities and parental conflict

Both Tyler and Enid have a problem with their family members treating them wrong because of their abilities. Enid’s abilities have not manifested yet and it highly disturbs her mother who finds this fact disappointing.

Later Enid’s mother tries to push Enid in one of lycantropy camps trying to fit the girl into her standards of a good child because she can’t treat her daughter for who she is and perceives Enid’s inability to shift as a failure.

Tyler’s situation is similar and opposite at the same time. Both his parents see his abilities as unsavory. His father is terrified even with a potential opportunity of Tyler having Outcast abilities. His mother, also an Outcast as her son sees the Hyde as a curse and tries to get rid of her own Hyde and after failure tries to take away Tyler’s.

2.       Being in a cycle

In the beginning of S1 Enid is powerless Werewolf unable to transform. Because of this condition she is afraid to stay a lone wolf without a pack and a mate, being an outsider in her own community.
S1 Tyler is a boy suffering loneliness, his mother absence and being mind controlled by a Normie.  

At the end of S1 both characters go through a major transformation and despite the fact a lot of things changed between the seasons, they somehow are facing similar problems again and the dangers and fears they face somehow return in S2.

Tyler is not motherless son, he gets his mother back but now Tyler is controlled and stripped of his agency again, putting him in a cycle of losing his freedom.

Enid in S2 after wolfing out finds out about her being an Alpha and therefore she is again facing the risk of being a lone wolf rejected by her own community (also the risk of being hunted down so this time her situation is worse).

 3.       Internalized Parental Voice scene

Also I find it interesting that both characters have their own internalized parental voice scene.

Tyler endures one in S2 ep5 hallucinating in the sewers (see ElvenQueen’s post) and Enid deals with inner voice of her mother in S1E6 remembering all the unpleasant things her mother says to her.

Tyler even sees a whole image of his father being disappointed with what Tyler and his life have become.

Both characters face their inner insecurities voiced through the images of their parents in a stressful situation when being left alone and those insecurities include the fear of rejection and loneliness for them both.

 4.       Possible parallels with inner beast control

Both Tyler and Enid turn out to be Outcasts ostracized by the Outcast communities or excluded from the community. Also I can perfectly imagine them both having problems with taming their inner monsters and to get a grip on their normal life because of their conditions. Really looking forward to see this theme explored in next season, that’s definitely important for building these both characters and it would be a waste if this theme will be glazed over.

made me realise Tyler was not aware he will start losing his mind?

He may already know that breaking a bond will kill him eventually (If Tyler managed to read that part in Faulkner's diary before Donovan interrupted) but sanity slipping away was definitely an unpleasant surprise.

Не сильно автентичне, але смачне
