Best running routes around Comox Valley?

I’m visiting Courtenay this week and would love to get a few runs in while here. Have both my road and trail runners with me but don’t know the area at all and unsure where to go. If there’s an active run group this time of year even better. Anything from 5-25k and 5-7 minute/km (depending on terrain) would be right up my alley. Also love Hash House Harrier type outings ;)

What would be the impact on Yukon First Nations if their employees became unionized?

I realize this question is a can of worms, thinking a territory wide First Nation Government Employees Union.

What would be the pros and cons if the employees organized, what would be impact be for FN’s, and why hasn’t it happened it? Would love to hear different perspectives on this topic.

Garmin ‘training readiness’ says 1, do I adjust my training plan?

How closely should I follow my Garmin fitness and recovery recommendations? Currently training for a 50 mile ultra happening in a couple weeks. Had planned a 20k trail run/hike today but my Garmin clearly disagrees haha.

Biggest differences preparing for a 50 mile compared to a backyard?

I’ve done up to 70km in a backyard ultra format (3 weeks ago) but never more than 50km in a straight ultra race. I have my first 50 mile ultra coming up in a couple weeks and am feeling nervous about the big increase in distance.

For the BYU it felt easy to get nutrition after each loop but I can’t exactly be carrying a container of peanut butter and banana sandwiches for my upcoming race. It’s also going to have 3000m of elevation gain where the BYU I did only had 130m per loop.

So any advice for me at this point? Race day is only 15 days away!!

Why do BnR Yukoners always seem to make a point of telling you they are?

I usually just smile and nod, not wanting to be rude, but am I supposed to be impressed that you’re born and raised here? It’s like an entitlement or something. I don’t recall people in other parts of Canada making a point about this. Why do so many Yukoners do this, particularly those under age 40? I moved to the Yukon in my 20’s from northern BC and I never recall stating I’m a BnR northern BC boy like it’s a badge of honour.

Best cinnamon buns in Whitehorse?

I’m missing the sourdough cinnamon buns that the Chocolate Claim used to make. Does any place in Whitehorse come close these days?
